Since 1801, The Old Tavern at Grafton has been providing visitors with timeless elegance and the finest comforts and amenities in a quintessential Vermont setting. The inn is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and is one of the oldest operating inns in the US. Forty-six rooms, including our four rental houses, are individually appointed with period antiques.

White Gates, a gem of a home, is located in the heart of Grafton, Vermont at the junction of routes 121 and 35. Conveniently located in Southern Vermont, just twelve miles from I-91, and 2 hours from Hartford, 2.5 hours from Boston and 4.5 hours from New York City.

An array of local attractions such as fly fishing, hiking, and mountain biking provide the perfect opportunity to relax and invigorate. Things to enjoy: restaurants, art galleries (three in Grafton alone), tennis, fitness center, outdoor swim pond, nordic skiing, cycling, and mountain biking. Nearby: golf, variety of restaurants, horseback riding, freshwater fishing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, outlet shopping. Attractions: in addition to historical Grafton, the local towns of Chester, Weston, Woodstock, Bellows Falls, Ludlow, and Manchester.

    • Queen Bed: Three queen bedrooms all with canopy beds and large private bathrooms. Master room has whirlpool tub, double sink and large walk-in shower. Other two rooms baths feature a double soaking tub. All rooms have sitting areas.
    • Double Bed: Located on the first floor, this bedroom includes an antique double bed with a private bathroom (shower only).

The Grafton experience also includes a visit to the award winning Grafton Village Cheese Company, the blacksmith shop, three art galleries, unique gift shops and two museums. Picnic areas and walking trails are scattered throughout the Village. Day trips to neighboring Vermont towns like Brattleboro, Chester, Manchester and Weston include a variety of activities, art galleries, theatre and restaurants. Bromley Mountain(30 minutes), Okemo Mountain (35 minutes) and Stratton Mountain (30 minutes) offer skiing/snowboarding in the Winter and golf and other activities in the Summer.
