If we lived in Florida we would be taking legal action against this owner. She rented it to us as a 2 bedroom cottage. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a very cheap, hard mattress. The second 'bedroom' had a blow up camping size twin air mattress ON THE FLOOR as the bed. When we got there, we were only provided with keys for one of the 3 doors. The others were all locked with no keys available - an extreme fire danger, as was the fact that there were NO smoke detectors. The cottage was marketed as having 'new carpet' when it was old, dirty, and full of stains. The rear sun deck was rotted and moldy and so was the outdoor shower area. We didn't want to go near it. Also, beware - none of the windows in the house open. They are all stuck shut, and even if you could get them open, they have no screens. There was substantial overgrowth all around the property which kept the entire property in shade and contributed to the mold problem on the back deck. There were nightly visits by raccoons who were very good at getting the trash barrels open, so we woke up to strewn trash around the yard almost every day. Inside, there were both roaches and ants in the kitchen, a broken coffeepot, and a refridgerator that leaked water all over the floor as well as dripped water inside over all of its contents. Internet service which was promised was practically nonexistent. There was no password given and once in a while it worked off of a poor quality shared network from the neighborhood. The TV was an old box style, appeared to be from the 70s. There is no heat in this cottage. We were left with one tiny electric space heater. Thankfully we didn't have to use the air conditioners because they were old and dirty also. Because of all the construction happening on Anna Maria Island (this is a huge problem noted in the newspapers and there was an actual moratorium on building being discussed in the newspapers while we were there), we were awoken daily at 7 am by construction crews in a neighboring yard. Nothing about this house is charming. If you could look beyond the filth and the illegal hazards, you'd still be able to do much better for the price. We also discovered there is much cheaper housing available just off the island in Cortez or NW Bradenton, beautiful areas that are not spoiled by overbuilding and traffic problems. lts

Best value on the Island!

I have stayed in this lovely bungalow three times in the past five years. It changed ownership last summer, and the new owner is using a rental agency now (the new phone number on the listing will be answered by Coastal Cottages AMI, not directly by the new owner). Christie and Ellie at Coastal Cottages AMI are the best property managers ever! Also, they have kept the price here the same as it was under the previous ownership, which gives you the best value on the Island. You get a whole house (with dock) for less than the price of a single hotel room in Bradenton Beach! I'll be back!

It seems too long ago since my family and I enjoyed your wonderful home this past December. I wanted to share with you how much we loved the bungalow, its great location, and the comfortable decorating and appointments. We all felt relaxed and quite at home and this was only possible because of how you have thought of every detail needed. You have been so thoughtful in how you have taken care to see that everything needed is available and providing a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of big city life for your guests on Anna Maria Island. I was indeed fortunate in finding your hidden treasure on the internet. It does not always work that way.

We had a truly wonderful time on the island and having this cottage as a "nest" made Anna Maria that much more delightful.

Booking sight unseen can sometimes be disapointing. Not the case with this place. As promised, the cottage was indeed the epitome of "Old Florida Charm." From the screened front porch--great for enjoying the outdoors without bugs., to the cozy bedrooms. This cottage was perfect for my beach getaway. The location was ideal...just steps from a private dock where I could watch the sunrise. And right across the street from a gorgeous white sandy beach where I took in the colorful sunsets. The cottage was clean, the hammock was ready and the private backyard felt like an oasis. I can't wait to come back!
