Turenne - Spacious, Light and Elegant Marais Apartment
- Minimum stay:5 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This is a stunning and traditional 2 bedroom apartment in rue de Turenne in the Marais (3rd arrondissement) between St. Paul and the Place des Voges, near to the Carnavalet and the Picasso museums. It is near the end of the rue des Francs-Bourgeois, one of the most exciting shopping streets of Paris. The nearest metro stations are St. Paul and Chemin Vert (direct to Bastille).
The apartment is on the second floor set within a plant filled courtyard in a historic 17th century building. It has views both onto the road and courtyard and is very light. There are many windows which are double glazed and insulate the apartment from any street noise. The main door into the courtyard has a security code and there is also a code to enter the stairwell. The newly built modern kitchen is fully equipped with four burner hob and conventional oven, microwave, Siemens dishwasher and Siemens washer/dryer. There is a new modern bathroom with full bath tub and shower over, basin + toilet. There is also a separate shower room and toilet. There is plenty of cupboard space. The apartment is heated by modern individual radiators. As it has just been renovated all electrics and services are new.
The furnishing is classic and functional with elegant items. There is a new top quality double sleep sofa in the lounge and various leather easy chairs. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and overlooks the street and courtyard. This is set next to the ensuite shower room and WC. There is an excellent convertible queen size sleep sofa in the second bedroom (possibly the best design we have encountered) and has a full ensuite bathroom and WC.
The apartment is fully equipped with telephone, cable TV, DVD player. It has a Hi-fi CD player/radio, broadband internet connection, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, alarm clocks as well as all crockery, glassware, cutlery, pans and utensils. Everything you need for a comfortable time in Paris.
All sheets, bedding and towels are provided together with a starter supply of coffee, tea, milk, sugar, salt pepper etc. Pillows are non allergenic.
This is a NO SMOKING apartment.

In writing this review I think I'm being very big. Not in terms of gluttony or sheer physical size; in terms of generosity in sharing. I say this because this two bedroom apartment's only imperfection is it's perfect: location, mix of antiques and oils, three light-filled exposures, scale, ambiance. Terrific. If I were covetous and a hoarder I'd keep still. But I won't. I understand that an American owns it, and true or not that makes sense to me, because it's a dream Paris perch as envisioned by un americain (or americaine). Some of the upholstered furniture is starting to rip and tear, but for now that only adds to its charm. I can't recommend this apartment highly enough.Did you find this review helpful? My husband & I stayed at this beautiful apartment while visiting our daughter who lives in Paris. Looks just like the photos and more! We were joined by my sister and another couple. From the moment we walked into this beautiful, very clean, well appointed apt. we were impressed. Roses and a bottle of wine welcomed us. It was very comfortable and big enough to accomodate all of us very nicely. Loved having 2 bathrooms! We had our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner there on the large extendable dinning table (daughter and boyfriend joined us) and the kitchen had everything we needed (pots/pans, spices, dishes etc.)to put on a delicious meal. Lovely art on the walls and beautiful antique furniture. Great location (3rd arr.) near Place des Vosages. In easy walking distance of everything. On right bank, 15 mins walk from Ille de la Cite and Ille Saint Louis. We have stayed in many apts in Paris, as our daughter has lived there for years (we never stay in her very tiny apt). After having lots of "rental apts in Paris" experience to compare to, we voted this apt one of the best we have ever stayed at for location, comfort, lack of any street noise and well appointed kitchen. We would definitely recommend this apt to friends & family. Thanks Xavier for checking us in and answering all our questions. Help with the wifi and t.v. setup as well as information on a taxi driver who was super nice and accommodating to us. Also, thank you Ken for your help in setting up the booking. p.s. Very excellent restaurant (my daughter's favourite) near Place des Vosages called Chez Janou #2 Rue Roger Verlomme (need a reservation as it is popular with the locals). Great Patisserie across the street and down 2 blocks (for morning pastries!) Also, grocery store a block down on Rue St. Gilles called G20. Great shopping down Rue Franc Bourgeois and of course the beautiful Place des Vosages. Best regards, Lorraine & Mike BrownRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our family of five stayed in this apartment during spring break and loved everything about it. The furnishings are lovely without feeling like you can't touch anything - the apartment was extremely cozy and well-furnished with everything you could want and kept very clean. And its location was wonderful - a vibrant neighborhood, near parks, the Metro, a grocery store and pharmacy, restaurants and shops. The management was very efficient - making arrangements to meet, providing the apartment with a small supply of things to get you started before you have to run to the store, etc. We'd rent again in a heartbeat - it felt like a home away from home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

What an incredible place ! What an ideal set up and location. The owners have obviously put a lot of time and good taste into furnishing and decorating this apartment. Their art collection is of museum quality. Much of the furniture is fine antiques. The owners must have had a professional decorator help them make the place so pleasant and beautiful. The sculptures and unusual bric a brac and french china are great. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the view of the small and charming Parc Royal out the front parlor and master bedroom windows. The private courtyard which the flat overlooks is an oasis. The apartment is very well "kitted-out " and had every creature comfort we needed. There was a wide selection of Paris guide books and DVD movies and musical CDs. We felt as if a good old friend with similar tastes and sensibilities had lent us their deluxe Paris flat for the week. The area surrounding the flat has all sorts of necessities and charms. A big grocery store is around the corner and so too are a great bakery, flower shop and wine shop-- all within a block away. Also steps from the flat is one of those new municipal bicycle for rent stands called a Velib. An historic church is a block away. And the famous Carnavalet Museum of the History of the City of Paris is just a five minute walk. Also the new Picasso Museum is closeby. Wonderful cafes and restaurants are all around. We ,of course, found our very favorites and other guests will too. This flat is on the edge of the Marais which is a fantastic old historic walking district with so many ancient landmarks and lots of terrific shopping. The world famous Place des Vosges is a few blocks away. The manager of the flat was most pleasant and accomodating. The apartment was spic and span and obviously well maintained. The photos on the website really did not do the apartment full justice --of course how could they really when we were so enchanted ? We want to go back soon and have already booked the flat for next season. We like to think of it now as our home away from home, with a french accent and flair !Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

This apartment is wonderful. In the heart of the Marais it is close to metro stops, bus, wonderful food shopping on Rue de Bretagne and Rue de Rivoli. The apartment is roomy and charming. Kitchen is very well stocked. Bathrooms are in great shape (tub and shower). Most delightful is the homey feel--art on the walls, rugs on the floor. It feels like a home more than a rental. Good storage for longer stays too.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
