Dated with Old World Charm, The Madison Ave Historic Buildings are converted and refurbished into beautiful one and two bedroom condominiums. The kitchens are completely new with all the amenities you will need. There is central air and heat. The neighborhood is one of the most desirable in all of San Antonio and is layered with Culture and Art Galleries.

The two bedroom condo is one block from the Riverwalk and within walking distance to the Alamo, Museums, Alamodome, & Fiesta in the Month of April. San Antonio is a city that is constantly on the go. You can't fit all there is to offer in one week. There are numerous Churches of all kinds to attend. In addition you have the areas surrounding the Historic District which offer the Hill Country with the Rivers and the Mountains and the Wine Country. You will love the Trolley Tours and riding through the neighborhood in the Horse Drawn Carriages.

For the kids (of all ages) there is Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas with all their rides and shows. The restaurants are diverse and there are many local favorites right at the end of the block.

  • We stayed a week and loved every minute. The accommodations: The beautifully appointed condo easily accommodated four adults. The beds were comfy, the towels thick and fluffy, and the arrangement of space was ideal for a party that included 2 early risers and 2 who wanted to sleep in. Handling business: The internet access via our laptops was fast and reliable. Note, there's also a Wifi cafe on the next block. Transportation: Interstate access was a snap. On street parking wasn't a problem. We always found a place to park either in front of the condo or on the same block. We walked everywhere but the trolley was exceptionally handy on gully-washer days. Location, location, location: It is ideally situated for anyone planning to visit the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Two of us were working, the other two were vacationing, and our age ranges were 40 to 80 years old. One block to the west is access to the Riverwalk and the trolley is one block to the east. The Alamo? We walked to and from several times a day while conducting research at the archives. But our day trips to the missions, the Hill country, Austin, and Goliad were all easy -- non-taxing drives. The kitchen: I can't say enough about it. It's amply stocked with essential make, measure, cook, bake, broil, brew, toast, chill, freeze, and store equipment. Don't worry about coffee filters, napkins, cutlery, measuring spoons, pots, cork screws, or strainers. Lynn's thought of everything. All we had to bring was the food and our appetites. We packed lunches for day trips and came home for lunch while working at the Alamo. The nearby restaurants? Tito's, a family-owned Mexican restuarant a block an a half from the condo, helped add inches to my girth. HEB (grocery store) is not close enough to walk it, but still very convenient. The best feature of this idyllic lodging? It is nestled in a lovely historic district. The atmosphere is enchanting. The setting within a collection of grand historic homes -- many dating from the 1800s -- with mature and exotic plantings and a plethora of tropical-sounding birds, reminded me each morning that I was visiting a very special place. The neighborhood was friendly and engaging. Although temporary residents, we felt at home and welcomed into this unique section of old San Antonio. We plan on repeat visits.
