A beautiful, family owned and built home on the best part of the lake. My folks bought this property in 1958 as a weekend home for our family and we have considered it our home away from home ever since. Dad built most of this place with his own two hands, a saw and a hammer, and Mom did the furnishing and decorating.
We have since added many amenities and upgrades, but the place feels like home to us! This is not a cookie-cutter, contractor built home, that you can see many of at the lake. There are no mints on the pillows, and the nearest store is five miles away. It is very comfortable, fully equipped and in the perfect location right on the lake!
We have Jim, our super handy - handyman, in the area that you may call if you need a hand with something.
There is a full kitchen, dining area, a master bedroom with a queen and a bath, two small bedrooms, one with a queen, one with two twins, near a full bath, a loft with a queen and three twins and half of a bath, a sunken conversation pit around a huge stone fireplace, a private tennis court that is shared with three other families, an outside shower that is just great after an evening ski, three BBQ's: a stainless propane, a Weber and pig-sized stone built in, a large deck on the front side, a bunk house with a vintage record player that the kids will enjoy hanging out in, CD, TV, DVD, cable, WiFi, local phone in the main house, etc.
The location on the lake is prime! We are on the Green Glade side of Thousand Acres, about 10 lots east of Crows Point. If you mapquest: Crows Point Road, Swanton, MD, we are near the end of the road heading towards the point. It is the least crowded cove on the whole lake - 12 miles away by boat from McHenry, MD. We get the morning sun on our dock, but not the afternoon sun. You can rent a boat from a local marina [Bill's Marina], and park it at our dock for the week. There is great hiking, fishing, and swimming right from the place. The area is very woodsy and you will likely see deer and other critters every day. You can tour Swallow Falls State Park for a day, drive into Oakland for groceries or antiques, or take the boat down the lake to the Honi Honi Bar for a beer, a band and a pizza! The Thousand Acres Golf Course opened last year, and is only minutes away. There is a lot to do and see in Western Maryland.
There is a rental agreement that spells out all of the details of the place, and an application that I will need to have filled out - all very standard stuff. Late Apr-Early Oct ONLY. NO WINTER RENTALS.. $2000/week plus county tax 5% = $100
Rental Fee includes cable, local phone and firewood.
$400 Refundable Damage Deposit and $100 Cleaning Fee are required in addition to
rental fee. No credit cards, mail me a check.
