St. Michaels cottage description
This unique waterfront cottage is just minutes from historic St. Michaels and Easton and is located at the end of a long drive in a very private setting. Originally built as a farmhouse in the 1920's, the house is situated on 70 acres with a stocked pond, open fields, and several acres of surrounding woods. Maryland's Eastern Shore is one of the most beautiful and treasured places you will find, and this picturesque farm allows you to enjoy all that the shore has to offer in an unforgettable location.
Only 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore and Washington, DC, with easy access to airports and trains, this property provides guests with the perfect vacation getaway, conveniently located near two major cities, but worlds away from the distractions of city life.
The entire house has been lovingly updated with new furnishings. The spacious family room is bright and cheery with large windows and waterfront views. Newly added woodburning fireplace with 50in flatscreen TV above. The dining room has a long table perfect for family dining and the kitchen comes equipped with anything you might need to make a home cooked meal or to barbeque on the grill. The screened in porch at the front of the house looks out over the water and is great for enjoying meals or for simply sitting back and taking in the scenery. The woods just outside your door are perfect for hiking, biking, exploring, and observing the abundant wildlife. Wake up each morning to the sun rising over the water and waterfowl gathering on the creek. Sit by the water and read your favorite book or go crabbing or fishing off of the dock. Head out for a kayak excursion to explore the scenic waters of the Chesapeake or head in to St. Michaels to stroll the streets and wander through the many little shops. Of course, make sure to end your day with some delicious Maryland crabs!
Fresh seafood, fine dining, wonderful shopping, countless attractions, and pure relaxation are just some of what await you here. There is so much to do and so much to see you will have to come back again to experience everything this place has to offer!

Unbelievably relaxing and easy

We came with 6 adults and 4 children (ages 5, 11, 12, and 14). The house was very comfortable and has views of water from almost every window. We kayaked, fished, and enjoyed the outdoor firepit at night. Never had to leave the house except to buy crab to make crab cakes.

We spent an incredible 4 day weekend here in mid-May. What a great location! The fire-pit in the back yard was a nice surprise and we spent every evening out there. Our golden retriever really enjoyed the dock and the river. We couldn't keep him out of the water. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed evening walks along the farm roads and thru the woods. Easy location between St Micheal's and Easton. Can't wait to come back again!

I stayed for two weeks in December, 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed the time. My daughter, son-in-law and son visited from Baltimore on weekends. I felt as if I were living on a small farm in the 1930's, without amenities I can't stand such as granite counters and kitchen islands. The interior of the house was larger than I had expected. Most of the neighboring houses were closed for the winter, and there was almost complete privacy. The weather was warm enough for kayaking, and we walked the property regularly for exercise. I’m not a bird watcher, but liked the Canada geese, great blue herons (one hid under the dock), kingfishers and blue jays.

We enjoyed a totally relaxing Labor Day weekend at the farmhouse. It's a quick drive from Washington but feels completely removed. The house is set on a beautiful, peaceful stretch of river. We spent lots of time sitting on the screened porch looking out at the water with coffee and a book. The house is very comfortable for children--lots of outdoor space to run around, as well as fishing and kayaking, also plenty of indoor space for meals and hanging out. We also used local tennis courts in St. Michael's. Easy shopping nearby. It's a fabulous spot!

We had a lovely week at the farm cottage. we were there in mid-May and although it was cooler than normal and quite windy a lot of the time, we still found a lot to do. The house is comfortable and the lawns outside provided great spaces for yard games. It is very private and quiet here, but still close to shopping, St.Michaels and Oxford. We did manage to get in 2 long paddles in the kayaks and had a lot of fun on the water.

I have stayed at the Farm Cottage twice once in the early summer and then again this past winter and no matter what season it is a great weekend getaway from DC! Both times we enjoyed walks on the surrounding property, dinner in St. Michaels and fires in the backyard fire pit. I particularly liked enjoying my morning cup of coffee while looking out at the water. The farm cottage provided a true escape from hectic DC life!

This was the perfect vacation retreat - very private and relaxing. The living space is very open and comfortable. The screened-in porch was the perfect spot to eat our meals while enjoying the spectacular water view. Our kids loved kayaking and exploring the nearby woods and fields. I would highly recommend this very private and comfortable getaway spot.
