Welcome to "Elmhurst" Captain Cook's 1890's shingle style farmhouse. The house is located south of the Montauk Highway on Ocean Road in the estate section of Bridgehampton. This 5,500 square foot home has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It accommodates eleven people comfortably and is surrounded by 1.3 acres of lawns and mature 100 year-old trees. The property includes a 42 foot gunnite pool surrounded by brick terracing and a 50 bush mature rose garden.
If you love the beach you are only a few minutes’ walk or bike ride from the Ocean Road beach entrance. This world-class Hampton’s beach is underutilized because there is little parking available which makes it even better for the beach-goer.
Rental includes free weekly pool service, twice-weekly trash removal, weekly lawn maintenance and weekly housekeeping.

- Beginning in July is the international polo meet in Bridgehampton - about a ten minute drive from the house. The world class Hampton's Classic horse show and dressage competition is held every August. The area has several excellent wineries with daily tours and tastings. The Hamptons are also known for hosting elegant charity events open to the public from designer fashion auctions to dancing under the stars. Check danspapers.com for listings and invitations to exciting events. Autumn in the Hamptons is truly beautiful - a stroll on the beach plus the October International Film Festival attracts a bevy of artists, actors and writers to the stunning waterside location. Fun for kids - picking apples, pumpkins, pony rides - October in the Hamptons is a wonderful family time.

The house has been in our family for 69 years - it was purchased by my father as a country retreat for the family when we lived in New York City.
The Unique Benefits at this House
If you enjoy old houses and antiques, you will love Elmhurst. It has a wonderful charm and warmth not often found in newer houses. The location is stellar - within walking distance of one of the few public beaches in the Hamptons. Since there is little public parking for the Ocean Rd beach access it remains relatively empty - even in high season. If surf casting is your passion, walk to the beach in the early morning and enjoy the solitude.

I came across this wonderful place looking for a spot our entire crew could stay while on a photo shoot. I wondered about putting 6 of us in a house all together for a week while working. I have to say, this place has great vibe! All of us were comfortable and could come back after the shoot and feel right at home. The owner helped us with everything we needed and more, very happy to help with anything. The backyard by the pool was the favorite gathering spot, great for BBQ, talk, laugh and swim. If you are looking for a little alone time, this place has room to spread out. We were all very comfortable and felt at home, everything we needed was provided. The shoot went spectacular and I believe it was due to this wonderful, quaint, peaceful home we came back to after a long days work. I highly recommend this home if you are wanting a spot to call home on your vacation.

My wife, 9 year old daughter and small dog loved our August at Elmhurst. The house was charming and very well maintained with an authentic hampton quality. The beach is a 5 minute walk and so is Bridgehampton. Really a perfect location. We loved it.

My family loves this house/property! The kids jump in the pool the minute we arrive as well as the first thing every morning and the last thing each night. The house is clean as a whistle and the property is extrememly well maintained. Very quiet location, yet very convenient to get to all the local activities. Close to the beach. The kids are already talking about next year's trip!

My husband and I have been coming to Elmhurst for many years now. We enjoy the peacefulness and nearness to the ocean as a perfect getaway for us from the pressures of everyday life. We walk to the beach each day, nap, swim in the lovely pool, cook our meals there, eat on the terrace, and take walks in the nearby towns. The owners have thought of every convenience, making our stay truly enjoyable and relaxing. We really feel at home. The property is so beautiful and quiet, we feel like we are in our own little world. Thanks for a memorable stay.

My husband and I have been coming to Elmhurst for many years now. We reserve the same week every year. We know we can get away from the pressures of life and completely relax here. Our first few days here we just listen to the ocean from the house and nap, ion our comfortable room and bed, and forget everything. We can stay in the house all day, just eating, swimming in the beautiful pool, reading and enjoying the lovely gardens. If you forget suntan lotion or flip-flops or any toiletries the hosts have provided every possible touch to make us feel welcome and at home. We have been coming for 3 years now and love it here! Our kids, 5 & 11 would be devastated if we didn't come here each summer. The house has such character and charm. We would not change a thing.
