In mid July my husband & I spent a most enjoyable week at this beautiful, fully equipped, most comfortable cottage. My husband fished every morn and was so pleased that the boat ramp to Umbagog is less than 3 miles from the cottage. While he fished, I sat on the porch soaking up the morning sun while I read and had my coffee. We were close to hiking and fishing and exploring new places and we took advantage of it all. The owner was more than accomodating and assured us that she was only a phone call away...although it was not necessary to be in touch because the cottage had EVERYTHING we needed. We definitely will be returning.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

Dear Patti, We absolutely LOVED everything about our stay at Windy Hill Cottage and Lake Umbagog!!!! We had a GREAT time kayaking! Our first day we paddled down the river to Leonard Pond and explored some of the northern part of Lake Umbagog (which was quite a challange coming back up river in the afternoon as gusty winds were against us!) and then Sunday we launched from the boat ramp at the southern end of the lake and went up into Thurston Cove and around Big Island. The scenery and views of the mountains were just beautiful. We have always wanted to explore Lake Umbagog for quite some time and are so happy we finally got to spend some time there. We saw tons of wildlife (at least 7 moose, lots of loons, herons, ducks, otters,etc). We also loved your cottage! It is such a wonderful design and great use of space! Your directions were very clear and we had no problems getting there and opening/closing the cottage. We were VERY comfortable there and it was so nice to come "home to" at the end of the day after being out on the water paddling! We did not want to leave Monday morning! THANK YOU so much for letting us rent it, we really enjoyed it very much. We hope we can return again some time in the future! Sincerely, Joanne PS.
