Charming Waterfront Cottage

What a great place! This cottage has everything that you would want for a vacation getaway, the area is secluded, quiet and peaceful. The cottage is beautiful, clean and well furnished for comfort. It is located on a bay that provides entertainment watching the tide, lobster boats and birds. The whole experience at this cottage was terrific! If you would like a peaceful retreat from it all...but close enough to it all...this is the place to be! Can't wait to visit againI

Owner response:We are very glad you enjoyed your time at the cottage. Thank you for taking the time to post your review!

Maine as it should be!

We just returned from a weeks stay at this delightful cottage! It truly is a wonderful escape cottage to relax and unwind in after a busy day of hiking & exploring the nearby areas. It is very clean and well equipped and lacked for nothing that one would need away from home. Attention to detail is obvious and it is a cozy, comfortable cottage. We enjoyed watching deer from the deck down on the rocks as well as hearing the loons and gulls. It is secluded yet close enough to essential amenities for groceries and staples. It is convenient to Acadia and Bar Harbor which is about a half hour away. Perfect get away and we would highly recommend this VRBO home. You won't be disappointed! The property owner is delightful and tends to any need you may have. Visit our beautiful state and stay at this lovely cottage!

Owner response:Hi Robert and Susan, Your review just arrived in my e-mail and I thank you so much for taking the time to submit it. I certainly appreciate the kind words! Neila

We recently spent 4 nights in October. The cottage and surrounding area was clean and in good condition. The setting on Frenchman Bay was a real plus as well. All-in-all the trip was a very pleasant experience. Having a nice place to stay played a large part in that. I would recommend this property to anyone considering a trip to the area.

Well, we are sitting here drinking our morning coffe looking out over the water on our final day of our vacation wishing it could go on forever. The experience here has been great! We woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise which you can view from the livingroom windows or by taking a walk down to the waters edge. Some of the wildlife we saw here were loons, seagulls, squirrels, red fox, deer, and an amazing Bald Eagle! At low tide, we were able to find various shelled creatures including mussels and small crabs along the shore. The cabin is immaculate and has everything you need to be comfortable. There are paths to lead you to the water (which is only about 200 feet from the cabin) and around the property. After spending time in the mornings enjoying the peacefulness at the cabin, we ventured out to Acadia National Park and to Bar Harbor during the day. The park is a must see on your vacation. Don't leave without driving to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The view is breathtaking. Bar Harbor is beautiful as well and there is plenty to do there. If you like shopping, you will enjoy all the little shops in Bar Harbor. We took an amazing two-hour cruise on the Margaret Todd which is a replica of a 151 foot sail boat from centuries ago. And of course, we ate lobster at various local restaurants. We would reccommend eating at Ruth & Whimpy's Restaurant. Not only is the food amazing, the restaurant is filled with nostalgic pictures to view while you are there. This was Neila's recommendation and we are glad she told us about it. We would definitly recommend this cabin to our friends. We are actually planning to bring some of them here with us next year!!!!!! Thanks, Neila, for the hospitality and allowing us to stay at such a wonderful place!

Delightful Cabin in the Woods

Date of Stay: 09/13/10 Review Submitted: 09/25/10

Quiet, relaxing with the amenities. We really enjoyed coming back after a busy day of exploring Acadia and relaxing. The cove is beautiful and there are many places to walk and enjoy it. We searched for seals but to no avail. The sunsets were beautiful and the rain on the roof was very soothing. The place was spotless and well maintained. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay that is away from everything (35 minutes to Bar Harbor or Acadia). Like the other reviewers I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be away from the crowds, enjoys the woods and nature.

Seclusion in Paradise

Guest: Ted and Donna (Beaver Falls, PA)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 08/22/10

We expected Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park to be loaded with tourists (like us) and after a full day of hard play it was a relief to get back to this wonderful place located on a wooded point sticking out into the tip of Frenchmans Bay (actually the Skillings river). There are no neighbors to be seen or heard, just the sound of gulls and the wind in the trees. An occasional lobsterman may putt by and we saw a seal sunning itself on a rocky ledge. The cottage looks brand new and is very comfortable. There is a gentle pine needle cushioned path from the cabin down to the waters edge. If you brought a Kayak with you it would be feasible to launch it or a biologically oriented visitor may enjoy searching the mud flats and tidal pools at low tide. We were there during the third week in August and were never hot despite an absence of air conditioning. Acadia is about a 35 minute drive away and another 5 minutes gets you into Bar Harbor. At the IGA market in Trenton its possible to park and take free buses onward to Acadia and Bar harbor (50 minute ride on the bus). After exploring all the little harbor towns along route 1 in Maine and seeing the bumber to bumber traffic and the little motels jammed next to each other like pearls on a stiring, we were absolutely amazed when arriving here to face such marvelous isolation. There is a well stocked general store 10 minutes away and despite the strong appeal of all the sights to be seen in Mount Desert Island we were sometimes tempted to just stay at the cabin and enjoy the silence. We brought our precious dog with us and she loved having the freedom to wander around outside and look for squirrels. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone, keep it a secret because we will want to come back!

Acadia cottage on coast of Maine

Guest: Maizeman (Toledo Ohio)
Date of Stay: 07/04/10 Review Submitted: 07/20/10

This cottage was cozy, comfortable and quite peaceful. A dramatic change from the busy and bustle of Acadia and Bar Harbor, which we also like by the way. But after a day of hiking or visiting shops in town, coming back to the cottage was very relaxing. There are shells to find on the rocks below the cottage. A small trail to follow and great views of Frenchmans Bay from the cottage and the shoreline. The photos are quite accurate and the cottage was clean and user friendly. It has everything you need to enjoy your time in Maine. It is close to town center in Lamoine and less than 15 minutes to Ellsworth, where groceries and anything else you might need are to be found. Yet, it is removed from all the traffic which we really enjoyed at the end of a day hiking or whatever. The kitchen is ample enough as we had lobster and clams on most nights for dinner. And there are plenty of places to procure such delights. I would definitely recommend this cottage and location to anyone who loves nature, loves the ocean, the Maine woods and wants to truly get away. It was great!
