Our property is a beautiful Provence country house set in its own six hectares overlooking a peaceful valley strewn with vineyards and fruit trees.
Part of a lovely and untouched 17th century hamlet, it is surrounded by only 4 houses, all inhabited. On top of a hill, at 800 m from the Gardon river, Campagnac honey-coloured stone walls greet you as you arrive.
Uzès, a magnificent medieval town, is ten minutes' drive away, and a French Architectural Heritage Site. It has excellent shopping facilities, restaurants and a justly famous market on Wednesday's and Saturday's.
The house's architecture is traditional for the region with walled court yard and a series of arches supporting the first floor.
It has been very sensitively restored reflecting the relaxed yet sophisticated lifestyle of the owners.
This 350 m2 stunning home features huge open living spaces, loft style. It is furnished with a mix of antiques and contemporary design.
It features 3 big bedrooms, each with its en suite bathroom and dressing room; a 120 m2 open and very contemporary and well equiped kitchen and dining area, a huge living room with a fire place, and a library-office.
The huge garden surrounding the property features a 12x4 m pool (not heated and available from spring 2009 only), a terrace with its dining space, and lots of resting areas.
This region is particularly rich in provencal culture, charm and history. It benefits from 300 days of sunshine each year and is perfect for outdoor living.
Nearby is the spectacular 1st Century aqueduct, the Pont du Gard, which crosses the Gardon River, a protected biosphere area and excellent for canoeing and swimming. Golf is available at Uzès and Nîmes; horse riding, hiking and mountain bike riding are all available in the valley.
The house is also within easy exploring distance of the Cévennes and Camargue National Parks, the exceptional cultural attractions of the Roman cities of Nîmes (20 minutes), Montpellier, Orange, Avignon, Arles, Aix en Provence (all less than 1 hour), as well as the beaches of the Mediterranean (1 hour 15 minutes).
