Perfect Perfect Perfect!!

Date of Stay: 08/22/09 Review Submitted: 09/02/09

The house is beautiful and perfectly located. We were able to go to TN, NC, and travel GA with ease. There is so many things you can do within 90mins of this house we will be booking next year for 2weeks. We went to waterfalls, local shopping, Blue Ridge Train ride, Mercier Orchard,a kangaroo conservation, and the Lost Sea. There are still a ton of things we would like to do. The local restautants were great. Everyone in the area is so nice and willing to help. If your looking for anything just ask the locals..they will gladly suggest places to go. There is a grocery store and many other stores for supplies within 15-20mins of the home. Yet when you get to the property you will feel like your all alone in seclusion. The house itself is beautiful and so home-y feeling. It is well maintained and clean. The description is accurate but the pictures don't do all the woodwork in the home justice. It was ready for us to enjoy when we got there. Our dogs had a blast..we all left kicking and screaming wanting to stay longer. We can't wait to go back!! I would recommend this home to anyone that wants to enjoy themselves and stay in a lovely home!!

Owner response:I try very hard to truly accomodate each and every guests needs. I realize that you want to get away and at the same time have all of the comforts of home. I realize that your pets are very dear to you and special treats await them. If possible check-in and check-out times are flexible. Sometimes every third or fourth night is free depending on the season. We have a play room with Air-Hockey, Foos-Ball, Play Station II, Guitar Hero III, a library and many movies. If you have a special interest share with me and I will try to give you good direction. I want your stay to be as exciting or as relaxing as you choose.

Most memorable New Year's getaway for our family

Guest: Grace C.
Date of Stay: 12/27/07 Review Submitted: 12/07/11

It's been several years since we stayed at the Creek Cabin. We were very lucky to come across it and each year wish we'd find a similar cabin in a new location. I reserved the cabin for a 5-6 day winter get-away in order to have some quite family time and experience the season (we're from South Florida). We had a fabulous time and unexpectedly had a snow fall come thru; where we had to run to the Blue Ridge dime store to pick up winter hats and gloves. What a wonderful issue to have! The cabin is roomy yet also cozy. The downstairs great room was perfect for teenagers. It's easy to access from the main roads and remote enough for rest and relaxation by the fireplace. Highly recommended! Grace Carril

Pink Floyd

From the reservation process and conversations with the owner my personal opinion is that the owner is a real people person. He promtly worked with me to help meet my needs. He did what he said he was going to do. The cabin was more than we expected. Pictures can only tell you so much. The area was really peaceful and not very for from Blue Ridge. The cabin had everything we needed to cook, lounge around & lay back. We stayed here the entire Thanksgiving Holiday from Nov 20th - Nov 27th 2011. The creek was nice and clean. My 11 year old son was able to easily get around in it to fish at his lesure. We spent most of our time at the cabin. The little amount of time we spent away was very scenic & tranquil. The people in the area are very friendly. The experience was wonderful. We are from South Louisiana and love spending time in the mountains. It's so nice after a long drive to have this nice a place to end up at. One word of advice. Please pay attention once off the main road which is I believe Hwy 60. Once on Old loving road stay on this road until you get to Lost Valley Road then take a hard left on Lost Valley Road and stay on this road until you reach the cabin on the right. Do not take Lost Valley Ln. We spent some extra time trying to find the place. Once we were there it was magnificant. If you plan on staying in some cold harsh icey, snowy weather conditions I would strongly recommend a fourwheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle. We do plan on making this a come back to place.

Nice cabin and location, but not so nicely maintained.

My stay at the Lost Valley Lodge was good, but could have been better. The location is ideal with lots to see and do nearby. The grocery store is only a short drive away and there are gas stations/convenience stores right up the street. The cabin is charming and warmly decorated with plenty of space. There’s even a hammock beside the creek that’s great for relaxing while listening to the water. My guests really loved the place and we all wish we could have stayed longer. The reason my stay was fair and not great was because of a few issues with the cabin, one of which the owner blames me for. First upon arrival, I discovered the fireplaces didn’t work. This wasn’t a huge deal because it wasn’t particularly cold at the time, but it would have been nice if things were inspected before a guest checks in. Second, the hot tub jets would only stay on for a minute or two at a time and then cut off. They would stay off for about 15 or 20 minutes, randomly come back on for a minute, cut off again, and repeat. I called the owner and he sent out a repair man the next day. The repair man said there was too much water in the hot tub. Apparently the high water level caused something to get wet that wasn’t supposed to. Keep in mind there was only 3 or 4 of us in the hot tub at a time. So, the repair man drained some water which did not correct the problem. The jets never stayed on for more then two minutes our entire stay. Upon checking out, the owner had the nerve to charge me for the service call saying quote, “A responsible person would have let enough water out of the tub to avoid overflow. I didn't have to be there to realize that an irresponsible act was performed. Give us a break and man up to the irresponsibility of your guests.” In no way was it our fault there was too much water in the hot tub and/or that it never worked properly my entire stay. A responsible landlord would make sure everything in the cabin works before a new guest checks in. The owner said he would issue me a refund for the service call, but never did. Overall, the cabin should be wonderful due to the ideal location and great features, however it could be better taken care of and the owner is a little shady.

Owner response:We are so sorry that we did not meet the expectations of this young gentleman and his seven college friends. The Hot Tub is designed to accomodate up to four Guests. Excessive Guests at one time will overflow the water level and damage the electrical components. We acted swiftly and had a certified Hot Tub and Spa company fix the electrical components and timer the next day. Since their stay we have implemented Guest friendly directions on how to properly use the Hot Tub and also on how to properly operate the fireplaces. Several Guests have stayed since then and based on their reviews our mission has been accomplished.

Great for whole Family

Guest: Family Traveller (Woodstock, GA)
Date of Stay: 09/21/11 Review Submitted: 10/03/11

Well laid-out cabin with the Great Room/Game Room in the lower half of the cabin (one huge room), that has 2 queen size Murphy beds within. Kids loved the full-size air hockey table, Foosball table, and puzzles. PS2 also there with several games, but we never got around to that. Small-catch fishing in Hemptown creek is right outside the back door and creek is shallow enough for the little ones to play and explore in. Caught 9 fish in 2 days (sunfish, bluegill, smallmouth bass, and even a trout!), but only a few were keeper size. Kids caught their first catches too! King size bed upstairs was comfy and the hottub on the screened-in deck was large and clean. Cooking/kitchen gear could use an upgrade, but was acceptable. Overall great experience with plenty to do on-site and nearby!

Owner response:So happy the guests really enjoyed themselves. We tell it like it is and apparently the guests saw for themselves.

We really enjoyed our stay and the seclusion! We spent a lot of time on the upper porch just enjoying nature, we even saw wild turkeys across the creek. The atmosphere is so peaceful you don't hear traffic just the sounds of nature. The house is very nice, the first floor provided plenty of space for watching movies, playing our board games and reading. We rode the local train and did some antiquing and specialty shopping and although there are a lot of other things to do our goal was to unwind and that is what we did. For the first time I was actually sad to see our vacation come to an end. The owner was very gracious and it was a pleasure renting from him. I would highly recommend this place to any of my friends.

Wonderful Experience

Guest: GM (FL)
Date of Stay: 03/24/11 Review Submitted: 04/17/11

My husband and I (along w/ 2 canine family members) recently spent several days at this cabin celebrating our marriage and preparing for his deployment to Iraq. The cabin was spacious, neat, clean and with plenty of indoor entertainment and outdoor private space. We had a slight problem with the hot tub, called the owner that night & next day repairmen was there (only a slight adjustment needed). The location had good access to explore the local towns. At the end of our vacation we all left happy & well rested. Thank you again for making our stay so enjoyable. GM

Last minute-short trip-wonderful place-going back!!

Guest: Karen (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 02/11/11 Review Submitted: 02/17/11

I called last minute and was able to book this for a romantic weekend. Great place!! Secluded with a hot tub. Furnishings very nice with 2 fireplaces. We will get back here in the spring and maybe even the fall. Loved the seclusion and solitude. Fun things to do in the house (foosball, air hockey, games), on a creek (with a hammock) and did I mention there's a HOT TUB?!! Blue Ridge is just a quick 10 minutes away with restaurants and artsy shopping. Great place to get food to cook if you're going to be in the cabin very long. We had a wonderful time. The owner was accomodating and easy to work with. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

This cabin was amazing! There are so many things to do and everything is in the cabin that you could possibly need. The two decks were fantastic and that is where we spent most of our time! The four of us that went are making sure we go back every year! Its just a really nice cabin, in a beautiful tucked away spot with your own little stream in the back what else could you ask for. The price is unbelievable as well!! Next time we are looking forward to exploring outside the cabin so we can enjoy the whole area! I would recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone!!! :)
