My family and I just returned from a wonderful vacation at this property from 17-24 August 2012. We were amazed at how beautiful the setting was on the North Fork of the Flathead River! Every morning and evening we were treated to glorious sunrises and sunsets, and the quietude was exquisite! You will never see as many stars in the night sky as you can from the Glacier Chalet! The listing photos do not do this property justice; the Glacier Chalet is even nicer in person. We found a back way into West Glacier via Blankenship Road which let us get there in about 20 minutes. We would definitely recommend going into Glacier National Park for hikes and the Red Bus tours. We took the "Crown of the Continent" Red Bus tour which covers both West Glacier and East Glacier. We also floated down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River one morning using a raft rental from the Montana Raft Company. We can't wait to return in 2013 or beyond! Thank you Steve and your family for being willing to share this incredible vacation home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Steve the owner was easy to work with. The home is clean and functional with plenty of space to lounge and dine. We especially enjoyed the deck overlooking the river. It was also very nice that the kids could watch a Disney movie (they have quite a selection!) in the evening in the separate, comfy, loft living room upstairs while we enjoyed the living room downstairs! Thanks to Steve and his family for sharing this lovely spot.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This log cabin home was exactly what we were looking for. It helped so much in the planning of our trip that this house is exactly as it is described. The home itself is beautiful, very well constructed, clean and nicely furnished. It's location on the river is perfect for those who want to have a place to just be and to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings and abundant wildlife (we saw a moose our first day). It is also perfectly located as the town of Columbia Falls is just a quick and easy 15 min drive as is the west entrance to GNP. The owner is very nice, easy to deal with and very responsive. We had a plumbing problem on our first day caused by a bar of soap and the owner took care of it immediately. Our visit to this area came at the end of our trip and everyone in our party agreed it was far and away the best part of our visit and the house was what made it so. We all want to come back soon if only just sit on the deck of the Glacier Chalet.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the great review. Your family is always welcome to come sit on the deck and enjoy the wildlife.

Beautiful, well mainted home with everything you could possible need. River just steps away from the back porch. West Glacier gate just 15 minutes away, 20-25 minutes to Whitefish. Easy access, yet very secluded and quiet. Steve was great, answered all of our questions. Everything was as described or better. We'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Kurt and Lisa, Thanks for the review. We are glad you enjoyed the Chalet. Let us know when you want to return. Steve

This cabin is in a beautiful place in West Glacier, a short drive to the park entrance. The cabin is spacious and comfortable with a great view of the river and mountains. We saw a lot of wildlife just sitting out on the deck and driving through the neighborhood. It was great to have both a dishwasher (dish soap provided) and laundry facilities at the cabin. I was so relieved to find sugar in the cabinets for morning coffee as I forgot to pack it. My only complaint is that I had to do some cleaning when we first arrived to get it usable for our family. The 2 bathroom floors had not been cleaned so there was a lot of hair to wipe up in each. Also, the kitchen cabinets had lots of fingerprint smudges. Thankfully there were some cleaning supplies available. All the other reviewers found the house very clean, so all I can figure is that there was a change in housekeeper or he/she was in a hurry that day. I wouldn't have minded so much if there hadn't been a steep cleaning fee. A few tips: bring your own teakettle and either pre-grind your coffee or bring your own grinder. Be prepared to hear noise on the roof every night. Our guess was raccoons or rats. The first 2 nights it was kind of charming, but by the 4th night we were getting a bit weary of it. The owners were easy to work with while I was setting up the contract, but then never checked in to ask how things were going during or after the stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

The Glacier Chalet is an awesome place to stay! It is comfortable, quiet, peaceful and right on the Flathead River. At the same time, you have WIFI and good cell phone reception! Columbia Falls and shopping are a just short drive away. While we were there, it was the wettest June on record and the area even had a flood watch one day. The river never got close to the bank, and Steve was in touch with us throughout. There is a long lane from the main road to the chalet, and parts of this lane were under water, but we never had any trouble getting to the chalet or out to the main road. In the evenings, we would build a fire in the fire pit and grill out on the deck overlooking the river. What an amazing view ! Everything we needed was right there. Glacier National Park is just a few minutes away, along with rafting, horseback riding and many other activities. We spent every day hiking in the park. We were lucky enough to arrive just 2 days after the opening of the Going-to-Sun Road. What an unforgettable drive! We saw just about every type of wildlife one can see in the Park. We also visited Whitefish, which is a really nice small town just to the west at the base of Big Mountain. Thanks to Steve; we would love to come back!Owner response: Thanks for the review! We would love to have your family come back to the Chalet and hopefully, if you return, the weather in Glacier and the Flathead will be better than is was this spring.

Wonderful Week at Glacier Chalet

We came from Florida to get a first-hand look at the wonders of Montana and Glacier National Park - and we were not disappointed, from the wonderful Glacier Chalet that served as our home for a week to the magnificent scenery that we were treated to each day. Glacier Chalet was all that we were led to believe. It was comfortable and everything that we needed was provided for. The view of the Flathead River from the back porch was magnificent - and I can only imagine what fun it is to have a cabin on the river during the summer months, especially for a family with children. The chalet was very clean and well-maintained. And Steve answered any questions we had during our stay. He was very accomodating. I would recommend this property to anyone heading to Glacier. It is very close to the park's western entrance and it's only a short hop to Columbia Falls, where there is a convenient grocery store and plenty of places to eat. Our favorite restaurant, however, was inside the park at the Lake McDonald Lodge.Owner response: Linda, Thanks for all your kind remarks abour the Glacier Chalet and the location. We really are lucky to be able to share our place in one of the most beatiful locations in the country.
