  The folks at Calabash Cottages, which manages Sago Cottage, made our trip to St. John perfect! They are so efficient and friendly that we had absolutely no glitches or stress! From the moment we contacted them to reserve the week at Sago, they provided all necessary information and assistance--private transportation from the St. Thomas Airport (and return) and rental car. We had stayed at one of the other Calabash properties a few years ago so we knew what to expect. A well-equipped cottage with all the conveniences, a spectacular view, and any needed help while on the island. We have rented other vacation properties in the US and foreign countries, and I can easily say that Susan Brierley and her staff are THE BEST managers anywhere! We can't wait to return to Sago or one of Calabash's other properties!

  My husband and I wanted to get away and relax on St. John so the place we stayed was very important to us. We wanted secluded and quiet with excellent views. Sago Cottage was absolutely perfect and we would definitely consider staying there again. The porch was fantastic (our favorite part) and the accommodations provided everything we needed and wanted. We were also pleasantly surprised at how well we were cared for by Susan and her staff. We were taken care of from the moment we arrived on St. Thomas, given excellent recommendations by her staff, and provided with snorkel gear, beach chairs, and everything we needed to enjoy the island. I highly recommend Sago Cottage!

  This was our second trip to St John. We found the Sago Cottage a wonderful getaway with awesome views. The owner Susan was very friendly and more than helpful. The cottage was spotless. We love this location on the island as it’s close to hiking trails, beaches and ruins. The nearby Donkey Diner is a must for breakfast and they also make pizza a few evenings a week. Try the Tourist Trap if you have a chance for their lobster rolls. A really nice convenience at the cottage was having free beach chairs, coolers and snorkeling gear. Big savings on not having to rent these items. You should know that this cottage is for sale so you may have a realtor stop by. The bed was just ok. We liked having an outside shower and hot tub but found not being able to control the temperature on both a little disappointing. Overall staying at the Sago Cottage on St John was another wonderful time on the island and we can’t wait to return.

  Sago Cottage is everything we hoped for and more for our honeymoon! If you are like us and do not like resorts and big crowds, this cottage is perfect. Not only is the house set up on a hill with tons of privacy and no neighbors, it is in a great location in Coral Bay, which is a laid back and slow paced part of the island with lots of character and great local spots! While you do have to have a Jeep if you stay here, that was one of our favorite parts was driving around! Just down the hill are some of the best restarurants in Coral Bay so you don't need to drive far if you don't want to. The cottage itself looks exactly like the pictures shown, I thought it was too good to be true! The cottage is clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. There is no A.C. however the fans and breeze felt perfect and we were never uncomfortable. Some other reviews mentioned a problem with bugs, however we were lucky in that we did not have too many. Yes, there were occasional intruders and a few ants in the kitchen by the end of the week, but nothing that a quick wipe down couldn't fix! As long as all your food is kept in the refrigerator there is no problem! The hot tub was amazing and the view around the whole cottage is breathtaking. We were supplied with ample towels, two coolers, two beach chairs, and snorkel gear. The shower is outside and makes you truely feel like you are living the island life with the hummingbirds right above you every morning. The staff at Sago Cottage could not have been more wonderful. We were greeted by Jen at the ferry who drove us to pick up our jeep, stopped by the grocery store with us, then lead us to the cottage and went over our maps. We later booked a Kayak tour with her as well! Our second day we called the office because our snorkel gear did not fit and we were greeted at the bottom of the hill within the hour by Dianne with new gear. The whole process was smooth and enjoyable from the moment we arrived until we left! We have wonderful memories of our time at Sago cottage and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape! Katherine and Connor Mathis Virginia Beach, VA

  My wife and I stayed in a similar cottage on Kauai, and Sago Cottage was equally delightful. The short drive on the bumpy road was no problem, and the privacy of the cottage was well worth it. The trees and flowers surrounding the cottage make a beautiful setting, and the view of the bay is stunning. We awoke each morning to the sunrise over the east end, made coffee, put water in the bird bath and watched the birds line up to play in it. The outdoor shower on the back side of the cottage provided natural privacy and beauty; regardless of morning or evening. The cottage fearture were just as described: very comfortable bed/linens/towels, complete kitchen accomodations, and balcony features. Being quite high up the hill, the breeze through the cottage made the temperature just perfect (and my wife has a very narrow comfort range). If we're able to return to St John in the future, we would definitely stay at Sago Cottage again. Russ Wenzlick

  We loved everything about Sago Cottage...the privacy and seclusion was the best part. The views were amazing! Thank you to Diane, Susan and their staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We stayed for one week during our honeymoon and it was the best choice for us...hope to return some day in the future! :)

  My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had a great time! We pick this cottage because of the views and they were better then what we had expected. It took a little getting use to not to be able to lock the doors/window and using the outside shower, but I think that's what makes you feel like you are living the island life. Location is very private and only a short ride to north shore beaches. Must be an adventure seeker to stay here. Thanks again Diane and Susan!

  My husband and I chose Sago Cottage as our honeymoon destination. The place seemed too good to be true, but somehow managed to surpass our expectations. The views and seclusion are what made us choose this lovely cottage and we would have never had this sort of romantic and adventurous trip in a traditional all inclusive honeymoon resort. That being said, you should definitely be sure you like this sort of vacation. You need to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle and drive a bit to get to beaches and restaurants. We had some of the most fun driving around though and loved the freedom to go wherever we wanted. You also have to be ok with the idea that you are sleeping and staying with unlocked doors and that you are in fact in the islands, so small creatures and insects do make their way inside. We never felt unsafe and had no trouble with security. This is a vacation home for an adventurous couple that enjoys freedom, peace and quiet. The seclusion allows for the most amazing of views and it’s unbelievable to feel as though you are the only two on the island! The hot tub was perfect for late night drinks and relaxation, you can watch the sunrise without leaving your bed, and the simple but ample amenities make for a comfortable stay. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! We cannot wait to plan a trip back.

  I cannot possibly say enough about Sago Cottage and its owners and managers (Susan, Paul & Diane, with a bonus mention to David, our greeter). It is everything represented in this listing and more. I was a little wary of spending our honeymoon in a rented cottage, but Susan and Diane took such great care of us from the moment we booked the cottage, we never had to worry about anything! They booked our jeep rental for us, they arranged our transportation from the airport to the ferry, they had some one waiting at the ferry dock to take to get the car and stock up on groceries... Not a detail was missed. They truly made the experience easy and stress-free. Add to that that the cottage is THE. MOST. PERFECT. LITTLE. COTTAGE! and I knew the second we walked in that we could never have picked a more perfect place for our honeymoon. It's very secluded...not a neighbor in sight! Very private!) The location is amazing...centrally located to everything we were interested in (north and south shore beaches) and not a bad drive to Cruz Bay (we only went once...Coral Bay is much more our speed). There are at least 5 fabulous restaurants right by the cottage! Sweet Plantains and Shipwreck's landing were my favorites, but previous guests raved about Aqua Bistro as well! We had a little bit of bad luck with the weather. It was overcast or raining much of the week, but we still went out and explored the island and the beaches (Maho Bay, Leinster Bay/Waterlemon Bay, and Salt Pond Bay are not to be missed!). I can't wait to come back for an anniversary!!!!!

  My wife and I throroughly enjoyed our visit to St. John and Sago Cottage. The views from the cottage porch of the various bays and islands speak for themselves during the beautiful sunrises and the moon filled night sky. We enjoyed the access to the many beaches the variety of which allows for a good beach day. We appreciated the various amenities provided at the cottage including the beach and snorkeling gear. The concierge service was very helpful as an introduction to the island and escorting us to the cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and included many nice touches to make our visit even more enjoyable. We look forward to our next visit.
