We stayed here for 5 nites early November 07 and the location was ideal. Only about 10 minutes from the aiport with little, if any, traffic to contend with. Costco is nearby and Kona with its' Ali'i drive is quite close. The house is kept immaculate and the location is very quiet. We enjoyed sleeping in and then heading out to Ali'i drive or to other good nearby snorkeling beaches. Judy, the owner, also stocks quite a number of beach items like Boggie boards, coolers, picnic baskets, etc. and she knows the island well. The Stadium cinema next to K-mart is also about 10 minutes away. Of course we reserved the movies for after dark when you cannot swim nor can you see any of the beauty of Hawaii after sunset. I recommend this place for anyone wishing to spend some time in Kona.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family stayed here for 6 nights. It was a home away from home. We especially enjoyed Judy. She lent us her local discount card (that we used several times at Blazin Steaks!), shared her her home-baked bread and fruits from the garden, and made us sorbet! The condo was clean and quiet. We parked in the garage underneath the condo. The garage had all of the supplies you needed, like a cooler, towels, chairs, etc. We will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We were pleased with this rental choice and give our positive recommendation. There were 2 of us, so the rental size and amenities were what we were looking for. We were both sightseeing and doing outdoorsy activities, so the close-to-Kona location worked well. The owner was really nice and responsive, including early check-in and late check-out to match with our flight schedule. She did a good job with detailing the description and photos on this site, as it was what was described, so it met our expectations.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Let me explain the 4-star (vs. 5-star) rating. Our experience here was very good, I just don't rate many things as 'excellent.' The house was great for us, and we'd stay here again. ? We stayed at this house for five weeks. (I could have stayed longer.) The home is a small free-standing unit above the ground-level garage. It is about 700 to 800 square feet including the lanai. The main room is “L” shaped and contains a king-sized bed, TV and sitting area and kitchen/dining area, plus the full bathroom. There is a propane BBQ on the lanai. The owner supplies linen and towels and there is a washer and drier in the garage. (We were there for five weeks, so naturally had laundry to do.) • The house is as advertised and contains all you need to live there for a few days or weeks. (You will have to plan your meals as the only way to [say] boil two pots at the same time is using the induction plate and the burner on the BBQ .. no problem.) • The house on the edge of a dryland forest reserve and at the end of street to it is quiet (except early morning birds that were great.) • The house is about 1,200 feet above sea level and it cools down in evenings and makes for great sleeping. • The location was good for us. It is ten minutes to Costco and about 12 or 14 minutes to the KTA grocery store and WalMart. (Avoid Safeway unless you win the lotto..so expensive!!) • There are many shoreline access points, state parks and beach areas 15 to 30 minutes away, and many more farther away. You can be at a whale-watching point or see green sea turtles or spinner dolphins (if you are lucky) all within less than a 30-minute drive. (The best turtle areas is only about 15 minutes away at the historical park by the Kona marina.) • We stayed south of Kailua-Kona last year and much prefer the Kona Pacific View location. • It is an easy drive up to scenic Waimea, or northeast, over to Hilo…where it rains a lot. • The drive to Kilauea volcano is about 2.5 hours…more if you stop along the way. It is slightly farther going the south route. For a day trip to the volcano, you can head south on the west side and come home heading north up the east side through Hilo and back via the Saddle Road…which is a good road despite what some older travel books say..it has been upgraded.) I was blessed to stay at the Kona Pacific View guest house for ten days. the views from the Guest House are fabulous: morning sun coloring with shades of pink the puffy clouds above the Pacific Ocean and the evening sun set brilliantly coloring the sky over the ocean. The proprietor of this guest house is knowledgeable about the island and provides guests with every possible link to sight seeing, points of interest, beaches, restaurants, local lore, and also all sorts of beach needs. This guest house is immaculately clean, bedding of the highest quality, abundant, thick towels, bathrobes, the kitchen has every cooking utensil needed and is fully equipped for preparing any meal It also provides an eat in kitchen, a fabulous outside grill and eating table .and chairs. The lanai is very private and quiet. Perhaps a visitor to Kona Pacific will be treated to fabulous bread and garden produce; truly a private oasis!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We just returned from a 4-night stay at Judy's Kona Pacific View. The place is amazing, and you'll see that the minute you drive into the driveway and go up to your unit. It was a pleasure to meet Judy. She made us feel at home and her hospitality was outstanding. The breads she baked for us were a plus as well as the fruits she gave to us from her garden. The views from our lanai were beautiful. Unfortunately, we were never there to see the sunset from there, but I can just imagine them being beautiful. The apt was very large compared to other places I stayed in Hawaii. We had a garage below the unit to store the car, even though the area is very safe. She even had coolers (that we used), boogie boards, mask & snorkels (all for your use). The bathroom was also large with plenty of towels for us. The bed was very large and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you needed to cook, but we never really used it. We went out to dinner to places that Judy recommended, and the discount card that she let us use provided discounts at some of those restaurants. The unit did not have a/c, which was a concern of mine, but truly you are so high up the mountain that you don't need it. The weather was just perfect. The location is great; it is very close to the airport (only 10-15 minutes away) and to the center of town as well. We will definitely be staying at Judy's place on our next visit to the Big Island of Hawaii. Mahalo, Judy....Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We travel often and have stayed in wonderful hotels, homes, etc. but by far Judy's tops the list! From the moment we pulled in the drive we knew we had made the best choice. Judy greeted us with kindness, a warm smile and the most delicious homemade bread. She provided us with great tips for things to do and places to go and had a wealth of information (brochures, maps, etc.) in the studio for us to look at on our leisure. The studio was so clean and comfortable!!! The pictures on the website show it perfectly. She had every appliance we could ever want and provided us fresh fruit from her grove daily. It was nice to be able to make some meals at home and enjoy sitting on the deck watching the sun set. She provided picnic and beach supplies which we used daily. It was so fun to explore the island and play in the ocean by day and then come home to the cool and comfortable studio at night. It was so calm and peaceful! Each morning we woke to the cool island breeze and beautiful sounds of the native birds. We saw the wild turkeys in the yard often and even heard and saw the wild pigs a couple nights sneaking in to steal Judy's prized veggies and fruit. Judy is a delight! We wish we could pack her and her home up for every vacation we take because they both were perfect! She is a gracious host with a wonderful sense of humor and charm. We made a new friend for life and look forward to our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Judy's studio apartment is the best vacation rental we've had in a decade of worldwide travel. The private location was close enough to Kona for sightseeing and shopping, but far enough above--at 1200' elev.--to avoid the mugginess. We enjoyed the fruits of the "farmlet" and Judy's "above & beyond" efforts to ensure visitors had all they needed to enjoy the area (beach equipment, weather forecasts, shopping & eating suggestions, directions) and her apartment (well-equipped kitchen, comfy bed & sofa-bed, plenty of towels, even bathrobes). We especially enjoyed Judy's conversation, sense of humor & generosity--she welcomed us with fruits from her farm & fabulous foccacia bread. We reveled in the view, had fun with the grill on the lanai, appreciated the lovely flowers, and watched the local birds, although we never saw the wild turkeys (only heard them). We hope to return to the Big Island and will definitely stay at Judy's Pacific View studio again. We are telling all our friends and relatives to stay here if they visit Hawaii. Thanks, Judy. We recently stayed at Judy's studio apartment for nine nights and had a wonderful time. We arrived on Thanksgiving Day very late at night and Judy kindly treated us to a turkey dinner! She is a very nice and generous person. She supplied us with her homemade delicious bread, fresh fruits from her garden - fully ripe and sweet, and her coffee. She grows Kona coffee. Aroma and taste are wonderful. Judy gave us a discount card valid for many restaurants, and we used it several times. The apartment is actually a separate building with a garage for your rental car and studio above. Very private place in a quiet safe neighborhood. The studio is an open space with many windows. It gets cooling mountain breeze at night so you have a good sleep even after a very hot day. It has a lanai (veranda) - with spectacular view downhill on top of trees and ocean and sunset into the ocean. From lanai we could watch birds: two kinds of cardinals, wild turkeys and others. Also there was a barbeque set on lanai which we didn't use as we spent most of our time outdoors. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated with tropical flowers. Free WiFi internet and TV. The kitchen had all utensils, even an automatic rice cooker. There was everything in the bathroom: shampoo, conditioner, body lotions, and even cotton robes. Nice sink and shower. There were many things for the beach: beach towels, boogie boards, umbrellas, chairs, etc. We found everything very practical. We really liked our stay and we recommend the studio based on our own experience. Thanks Judy for making our vacation so nice!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We frequently travel to Kona to visit relatives and this is our new favorite vacation rental. When we arrived, Judy invited us in for tea and we were greeted by the aroma of her delicious homemade bread. She is such a warm and friendly host and we really enjoyed getting to know her. The studio is the perfect spot to take in the sunsets and unobstructed ocean view. You will definitely want to spend some time just relaxing here in this beautiful and quiet spot. Its an easy drive to many of the popular shopping areas, beaches and other local sites. There is a small grocery store just a few minutes away where you can pick up supplies or local favorites like fried rice and beef stew (they have a small take out window inside the store that opens early). We are planning to stay here during future trips to Kona and look forward to visiting Judy again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.
