Location: Makaha, West Oahu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA (45 minutes from Honolulu International Airport) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: House
Sun on your face, wind in your hair, the scent and sounds of the ocean beckoning you to come sink your toes into the warm sand. This is Makaha. Deep blue water, stunning sunsets and enchanting early morning "full moon" sets; if you're lucky you may even see a "moonbow"!
This beachfront home is well appointed with a nicely furnished kitchen and a dining table that seats 10. Tiled throughout with the bathrooms accessible also from the outside, the house lends itself well to indoor / outdoor living. In fact, the windows facing the ocean and mountain are screen and glass track doors that fully retract virtually removing the walls.
Ceiling fans in every room make the house feel breezy even when there is no wind. The beautiful surrounding trees lend shelter from the sun when you're ready to kick back and cool down in the shade.
Makaha Beach is well known for surfing and diving. Each day surfers, paddle boarders, kayakers, snorkelers, divers etc. partake in the fabulous ocean fronting the house. This location is also enjoyed by those who are enthusiastic about fishing, whale watching and outrigger canoeing.
Just 15-20 minutes away are the Ihilani Resort and the new city of Kapolei. There can be found a spa, a theater, many stores, fine and casual dining. About 8 minutes from here is the Makaha Golf Resort.
In summary, this location and home combined are nothing short of epic. Owner is a licensed realtor in the state of Hawaii.

Just spent ten great days with four teenagers in tow at the Makaha Beach House. It was perfect. A five minute stroll to one of the best swimming and surfing beaches on Oahu; a reef right out front for your snorkeling pleasure; and a beach routinely frequented by turtles just down the street. If you're after the bright lights of Kalakaua Avenue (Waikiki), Makaha is not for you, but if you want to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the "real" Oahu with the charming and friendly people of the leeward side, you'll be just as pleased as we were. There was plenty of room for the five of us, and all the amenities we could ask for, whether cooking, playing, or just plain relaxing.

Circumstance afforded me the opportunity to stay in this beautiful sanctuary for several days in January. Every day was perfect. The home itself is warm and comfortable. The views are breathtaking and unparallel. You cant ask for a more picturesque setting. Sunsets to die for and whales to watch right from the upstairs bedroom deck. Waves to ride, turtles to swim with and sunshine to soak up- this is all you have to do today! While you're there, get to know the next door neighbor called Becky. She's four legged, has lots of grey hair, and is the most intuitive dog I ever met (& I work at my local ASPCA). She was always waiting for me to wake up in the morning and say hello, and my constant companion for long quiet walks on the beach. She was my guardian angel, ever present and protective when I was alone. As a single woman who did spend some time by myself, her presence was welcomed and exactly what I needed. Just give her a whistle and she'll come running. Her owners dont mind lending her out for company! Frolic in the waves with her and throw water at her- she loves it, and she's a beautiful girl. I love this home and this community. Go walking & chat with the neighbors. Everyone I met here was genuine & kind. I had the chance to spend some time with the homeowners during my visit to Makaha, and cant imagine meeting a kinder, more generous family. Their warmth, openness and hospitality made my stay truely meaningful. The kindness and generosity they showed me fully embraces what the Aloha spirit now means to me. It's a spirit I dont feel on my side of the country. This peaceful home in this tiny little town in the wild west of Oahu will forever feel like home now because of them. I somehow have felt out of place ever since I got back and I have lived here my whole life. A week in Makaha, and my soul feels like thats where it should be, and I hope to go to that home again and see my new friends someday. There's something in the air here- I think its magic... Go. Stay. Namaste, Crystal T.- NJ I hope this finds you, as I didnt get a chance to express how much I appreciate your gift. Words can not express my gratitude and admiration for you both... caught up in my abrupt departure, I left without your contact info. Peace and love.

If you understand Makaha is not Waikiki then this is the house for you. We rented this home in Nov/10 with our 2 children Grandma & Grandpa, and were very comfortable here. The access to the beach is a short walk down the shoreline to the North ( the area right out front is not suitable for swimming) The sunsets are spectacular and there are turtles swimming out front. To be really honest I would not venture out a night by my self, but there are many areas in any city that you just have to be smart about. The neighbours are great, so take the time to say hi. A car is a must to go out and get groceries etc, as there is really nothing too close. The home is clean and well stocked. We will return.

Such lovely memories! The house is a beautiful yet cozy home, with great amenities and lots of space. I would absolutely go back, and would highly recommend it to everyone. Just thinking about it, I'm back, sipping a beverage under the coconut trees at water's edge...

If you want to be next to the ocean and hear the waves breaking outside your bedroom door then this is the house for you. Just a short walk down the beach and you can swim with turtles or lay on the beach next to them. If you want peace and be away from the crowds you will not be disappointed with this beautiful retreat in Makaha. Don't forget your camera for the breath-taking sunsets.

We were here last summer for a week and it was aloha paradise. This home has a wonderful vibe, and we loved every minute! Great back yard for our kids to run around, killer master bedroom deck for lounging and watching the sunset and an absolute perfect spot for relaxing with multiple families. We traveled easily to turtle beach and north shore. We would definitely go back!

We love this house! Makaha is off the beaten path, and gives you a taste of Hawaii that you only get when you go outside the mainstream (with easy access to all the amenities). The house is large, clean, well-appointed, broadband, and most importantly easy access to the beach and nightly sunsets. The addition of a gas-grill this year seals the deal. You will never want to leave.
