Jekyll Island is a 7 ½ mile long state park with 10 miles of beach and is 6 miles from the small mainland city of Brunswick. OASIS is located on a beautiful, tree-lined street in the original forest on the riverview side of the island. The house was completely refurbished in March, 2007 with all possible amenities summer renters desire. All linens, towels, and cookware are furnished.
A 125 year-old live oak tree grows outside of the 2nd bedroom. In the master bedroom, you can sleep like a baby on a new, queen-size bed, plus enjoy the forest view of the backyard. The second bedroom is furnished with new twin-beds equally as comfortable. Two more people can sleep on the new sleeper-sofa in the den/tv/entertainment room.
We decided that the dining room was too small and that the original living room was surplus to family needs. There is a Jekyll Room in the back of the house with windows on three sides overlooking the live oak/pine forest and a den which is another place for family gatherings. We turned the old living room into a spacious dining room, moved the chandelier and installed a 9-foot oak table with enough chairs to seat all who are there. Dining is also available on the screened-in porch and a gas grill is just outside one of the screen doors for the barbecue chef.
Our house, which we call Oasis, is approximately 2 miles from the nearest beach. Four adult Beach Bikes are in the garage and more can be rented from the shopping center or bring your own. The extensive, 20+ miles of bike trails and the 35 mph speed limit make Jekyll Island a delightful, safe place for all. |
