Villa Cardeto is positioned on a gentle hill and for centuries has enjoyed panoramic views of the Upper Tiber Valley with truly romantic Tuscan sunrises and sunsets. An opportunity to enjoy a relaxing holiday in a beautifully restored Tuscan villa surrounded by terraced grounds complete with statues, a soigné pool with pergolas, a garden pavilion and a horoscope garden.
An abundance of spots for relaxing with a good book, soaking up the Tuscan sun or simply enjoying the scents of rosemary, thyme, lavender and roses in the air. The large swimming pool does not seem out of place as the grounds are superbly landscaped and meticulously maintained. This 3 hectare property is completely fenced with wrought iron gates and a long pine tree lined driveway. There are also cypresses, cedars, palms, fig and olive trees within the villa grounds.
The villa is situated, just 10 minutes from Anghiari, voted to be one of Italy’s most special medieval hilltop towns, 10 minutes from Monterchi which houses ‘The Pregnant Madonna’ by Piero della Francesca and 15 minutes from the walled town of Sansepolcro, the birthplace of this world famous artist, ‘The Resurrection’ is exhibited in the local Museo Civico.
Villa Cardeto is ideally suited for large family celebrations or reunions, groups of friends on holiday together in Tuscany, conferences, seminars and Wedding parties. A wedding coordination service and wedding party catering is available to guests wishing to celebrate their special day in this romantic spot. The historical little church of San Donato is just minutes from the Villa and for civil services the town hall in Anghiari is also a special location.
Over the summer months, a number of courses are held from painting to pottery and ceramics. Italian cooking classes are also regularly held in the spacious well equipped villa kitchen. In addition to the kitchen facilities fully catered meals can also be arranged.
It is divided into 3 wings with additional double and single en suite rooms also available and may accommodate up to 24 guests. The large villa kitchen on ground level is fully equipped and available for all to use, it steps out onto a covered patio with seated ‘al fresco’ dining for up to 24 guests. Adjoining the main kitchen is a dining room complete with elongated dining table providing seating for up to 18 people and located on the first floor is a comfortable living room with satellite TV.
Smaller groups also have the opportunity to enjoy a unique holiday in this classic and romantic Tuscan setting as the apartments or separate wings of the villa plus the additional rooms may be rented independently, subject to availability. The villa boasts in total 12 bedrooms [6 with double beds, 6 with two singles] and 9 very well appointed bathrooms. There are traditional terracotta floors throughout with antique furnishings in every room.
The 3 apartments each have their own characteristic charm and accommodate 4 to 6 guests:
‘Siena’ is the housed in the most historical wing of the villa, the tower that dates back to the 14th century. It consists of 1 double bedroom, 2 bedrooms each with 2 single beds, 2 bathrooms, a small kitchen in addition to the villa kitchen, dining room and lounge.
‘Arezzo’ is located on the ground floor just around the corner from the villa kitchen and also sleeps up to 6 people with an internal and also an external bathroom, outdoor terrace and comfortable private living room.
‘Firenze’ consists of a double room plus a second bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom, lounge and a delightful terrace overlooking the park like gardens and pool.
Your gracious hosts live in a small cottage within the villa grounds and are always available to assist their guests with information and to ensure that your stay at Villa Cardeto is most enjoyable, relaxing and memorable.
