Sleeping up to seven adults and situated in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains, the house is set in a secluded and peaceful wooded valley beside a bubbling stream. Surrounded by stunning scenery and yet only 40 miles south of Dublin, Aughavannagh Cottage is the ideal location for a perfect holiday.
This lovely house is convenient to Dublin Airport and the ferryports at Rosslare and Dun Laoghaire, ensuring that you can enjoy some of Europe’s most spectacular unspoilt scenery without the need for a long and tiring journey following your arrival in Ireland. Aughavannagh Cottage is also an excellent location for a range of activities including golf, hill walking, horse riding and sailing. For those for whom such pursuits are a little energetic, it’s also the perfect location for a relaxing getaway.
The surrounding area is dotted with pretty villages , historic houses and castles, craft shops and excellent restaurants and pubs. Wherever you go in Wicklow you are assured of a warm Irish welcome!
Accommodation at Aughavannagh Cottage is designed to provide a comfortable home from home. The house is centrally heated and comprises a fully equipped kitchen with every modern convenience and a traditional sitting room with an open fire. There are four bedrooms, each with a lovely view and comprising two doubles, a twin room and one single bedroom. There are also two bathrooms and utility room with washing machine and dryer - perfect for those engaging in outdoor activities. Outside a large informal garden surrounds the house complete with a barbeque and garden furniture.
The Wicklow Mountains is one of Ireland most scenic areas. The area is a walkers paradise with countless opportunities to get away from it all in beautiful unspoilt mountain scenery. Whether you want a gentle stroll in lovely surroundings or prefer a more energetic all day hike there is always a wide choice for every taste. Waterfalls, mountain lakes and deep glaciated valleys all provide a wonderful backdrop for walkers of every ability. Deer, foxes and hares can all be seen in the quiet glens and kestrels, merlin and peregrine falcons can also be spotted with a bit of luck. There is little in the way of man- made settlement in the mountains but with a bit of careful planning it should be possible to ensure that your hillwalking day ends at a good pub!
Lugnaquilla, Wicklows highest peak, rises to over 3,000 feet just behind Aughavannagh Cottage and provides an exhilarating challenge for the energetic and experienced who will be rewarded with spectacular views from the summit. There are several routes to the top and it isn’t difficult to plan a hike which ascends one route and descends by way of a different track.
