This serene getaway sits just 1.5 hours from a multitude of different activities throughout the Sierra Nevadas and is close to three separate entrances into Yosemite National Park.
The Arch Rock Entrance (Central Entrance) is within a 1.5 hrs drive with the Merced River Canyon winding along hwy 140. Which leads to the entrance and the Yosemite Valley Floor. In combination with the breathtaking views the river offers activities such as camping, fishing, swimming, and rafting.
The Southern Entrance is a 1 hour drive and is located off of hwy 41. It enters into Wawona. While this entrance sits .5 hrs from the Yosemite Valley Floor, Wawona provides fabulous dining, golfing, a historical village, horseback riding, and swimming. Hwy 41 passes by the historical Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, which offers several rides daily, picnicking, and souvenir shopping.
A third entrance, which enters into Wawona as well, is located just 10 miles north on the same county maintained road in which Apple Pine Ranch is located. The trip takes 30 minutes and passes through the beautiful high sierras. The maintained Forest Service road provides miles of dirt road for off road vehicles, some which connect to the various locations mentioned above.
Mariposa, the historic gold rush town is located just 20 minutes away on hwy 49. This quite town offers dining from several locally owned restaurants, shopping at a variety of antique/collectable shops, The Mariposa Museum and History Center, and The California State Mining and Mineral Museum which offers gold panning lessons.
Bass Lake is located 40 minutes away off of hwy 41 outside of Oakhurst. Bass Lake is a beautiful lake surrounded by acres of oak and pine trees. This serene location offers water skiing, jet skiing, house boat rentals, fishing (land/boat), great dining at Ducy's on the Lake and Forks diner (best hamburgers!).
