My cabin was featured on the Fine Living Channel as Stonebridge Cabin. My beautiful log cabin in the country is the perfect place for two people or a whole family to enjoy being together in a tranquil setting. Enjoy a sunset from the swing or rocking chair on the front porch. Have a cook-out on the back porch using the gas or charcoal grills. Or, just watch the songbirds at the feeder. Don't forget to feed them. There's sunflower seed in the can on the back porch.
I built the badminton-volleyball court. How about a game of horseshoes? The croquet set is in the little barn. The hammock will probably be up in good weather. Indoors I have collected quite a few games. The books on the rotating shelf at the end of the sofa cover a wide variety of interests. There by the Stone Fireplace is an old fashioned popcorn popper. Corn is in the fridge. I have installed a gas log fire set in the fireplace for safety. You'll find the kitchen fully equipped. Microwave, dishwasher, full sized fridge, and my eclectic collection of kitchenware. Faye made up the queen bed in the master bedroom-put a nice quilt on it. There's a quilt on the queen bed in the downstairs bedroom too. The antiques look nice against the old wood walls and floors. That painting by the fireplace is a primitive that my mother painted a while back. The DVD is on the loft with the lcd tv. It is connected to a satelite dish. That sofa pulls out into a queen sized bed. The leather sofa in the great room hides a queen sized bed as well. Sheets and towels are in the linen closet. More blankets and pillows are in the cabinet by the dining table. The phone is by the stairs.
Now, I want to tell you about our area. This is a beautiful area of Virginia. The Blue Ridge mountains you can see to the east. The famous Natural Bridge is just 2 miles down the road. Historic Lexington, where General Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson lived, is only 11 miles up the pike. Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University are here. You can watch a cadet parade at 4 PM on Fridays at VMI. The new O. Winston Link Museum in Roanoke (35 miles)is wonderful. Many photographs of steam engines on the N&W railroad. In Lexington there are horse drawn carriage rides through town. The two national forests have their information center just 2 miles away. They have many outdoor activities to tell you about. There is much more to do than I can tell you here. I put information brochures on the table in the Great room. Send me an e-mail or call about reserving my cabin. Roy and I have finally completed the caboose which has a double bed, bath, galley and a small day bed. This could allow you to expand the size of your group depending on how you arranged them. There is a firepit and brick patio at the caboose. It is separated from the cabin area by landscape features. Thanks, Tom Bradshaw |
