Located in the Sierra Crestellina Natural Park between the hilltop "pueblo blancas" of Gaucin and Casares, this finca commands stunning views across the beautiful Rio Genal valley to the mountains of the Sierra Grazalema National Park, Los Alcornocales National Park, and the Serrania de Ronda.
With the Sierra Crestellina mountain as its backdrop, Finca Las Aguilas is set in six acres (2.5 hectares) of landscaped and wild gardens and is a birdwatchers' paradise. There are many excellent walking trails close to the villa - and the sky at night is stunning. In spring the wild flowers are beautiful.
Although private and peaceful, the villa is ideally situated to provide easy access to Blue Flag Mediterranean beaches 15 minutes' drive away, excellent restaurants, shops and superb golf courses (Valderrama, Sotogrande, etc) along the coast. There is an award-winning goats cheese factory (queseria), a bakery (panaderia), and a bar/restaurant just over a mile away. Supermarkets, retail parks, banks etc and all the essentials of the Costa del Sol are within easy driving distance. The wonderful cities of Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Tarifa, Grenada and Malaga are all less than 3 hours away - and Morocco is a 30-min ferry crossing from Tarifa.
During the low season (and sometimes the mid-season) the house can be rented as a two bedroomed property (the ground floor bedroom suite and library corridor can be locked) sleeping a maximum of 4 adults and two children under 5 sharing their parents' bedrooms. All other amenities and facilities of the house are the same as for the 3-bedroom house. When rented as a 3-bedroom house the villa will sleep a maximum of 6 adults plus three children under five sharing parents' bedrooms.
Our prices include absolutely everything: weekly house cleaning and towel/linen change, fresh white laundered Egyptian cotton bedlinen, bath, hand, kitchen and pool towels; table and kitchen linen; all utilities, free wi-fi broadband internet access, UK satellite TV (family and sports package), free-to-view Spanish TV, pool cleaning, hair driers and adult bath robes (so no need to pack these), the use of our library of books, DVDs, CDs and family board games, picnic ware and cool boxes. The house is made for entertaining with indoor and outdoor dining areas and plenty of cutlery, crockery and glassware.
The on-site caretakers (or sometimes the owners when they are in Spain) live in the attached casita (cottage), separated from the main house by a study/store room. They are an invaluable source of local knowledge and are on hand to help in any way. The casita does not overlook the main house at all and has its own separate access, car park and small garden. Visitors have the sole use of the rest of the grounds (6 acres - 2.5 hectares) and pool. If the owners or caretakers are not in residence in the casita our keyholders can be contacted at all times for help and information. Their phone number will be given to you.

More than we ever dreamed of!

Where do we begin....The house and property is nothing less than spectacular. Since I love to cook, the kitchen was a chef's dream. Plenty of counter/cabinet space, beautifully appointed, and everything one could think of as a chef in a strange kitchen. Bravo, well done. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and also well appointed. I kept getting lost, the house is so large...And most importantly, the house and surrounds, pool, etc were immaculately clean. Top notch goodie basket upon arrival as well! As for the owners, well, let's just say they are two of the nicest, warmest people my wife and I have ever had the pleasure to know. We can't rave enough or give enough "stars" to the entire experience, from the first email, directions to the house, payment, helping us to book a day trip to Tangier (you simply must!), and a myriad of other details. They truly must love making everything so special Thank you L and J, for a phenomenal week in your storybook home! Can't wait to return! Richard and Paula R, NYC and also VRBO homeowners

Beautiful House in a Magificent Setting

We are so grateful for our time in this absolutely beautiful house in the most extraordinary location. The setting is so breathtaking. We could not have asked for more. This spacious and well designed house exceeded our expectations in comfort and amenities. We felt right at home. The owners were welcoming, gracious, generous and very accomodating. Their input was crucial to making our stay so gratifying. Ever patient, they gave us restaurant and sight seeing suggestions which were excellent. The surrounding area is great for sightseeing. A week's stay is not sufficient to cover all the area's attractions. We ordered delcious tapas through the owners from a local chef to eat at home our first night. We also purchased wine in advance as well. We feel very, very lucky to have found this house and Liz and Gerry, it's wonderful hosts. Thank you.
Owner response:So glad you enjoyed your stay - and thank you too for making the time to write this review. Jane will be pleased to know that you enjoyed her tapas - and we arte pleased that you enjoyed the sight seeing and local restaurants. By the way - we are so pleased you went to Bolona and Baelo Claudia - it is a very special place and not many people know about it. Come again for longer next time!

The photos don't do justice to this villa. It is a lovely home away from home. The kitchen was much nicer than we anticipated, and our group enjoyed spending time together cooking. The bedrooms were spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The multiple outside dining areas offered good views while dining, as well as enjoying the fresh air and warmth of Andalucia. I especially enjoyed the hammocks down by the pool with the excellent views of the mountains and nearby hill towns. The local hill towns were quite enjoyable to explore. And there is a quaint beach town only 15-20 minutes away. We day-tripped to Morocco, Sherry/Brandy tasting, hill towns (Ronda, etc.), art fairs, farmers markets, beach towns, hiking in the mountains, etc. as well as just relaxing by the pool on other days. We intend to return, and have already recommended to many friends in just the week since we returned home.
Owner response:Thank you so much for taking the time to send this review - and for your lovely comments in the house guest book. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Yes, we know the photos don't do justice to the place - but it's virtually impossible to take pictures that truely represent this wonderful landscape and beautiful Andalucia. You certainly made the most of your holiday and our cook really enjoyed meeting you and cooking her Taste of Spain menu. We look forward to welcoming you here again. Liz and Gerry

We've just returned from a fantastic week at the Finca. The location is perfect, it is easy to drive to the many villages and sights of southern Andalucia. The home is clean, quiet, elegant, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen very well equipped for cooking and entertaining. Liz and Gerry are wonderful hosts, helpful and available whenever they are needed, and they provided a lovely welcome basket for us. The beaches are close by, or you can just relax at their beautiful pool after a day of sightseeing. The area is tranquil, the sunset and stars are beautiful at night, and the wildlife is right at your doorstep. We would not hesitate to return.

We were lucky enough to spend a week in this lovely villa in September, 2007. There is little we can add to the numerous comments above, except that they are all true. This is an exceptional way to combine rural and urban site-seeing in this beautiful part of Spain along with relaxtion - we could have spent the whole week just reading and watching the sceneray from the villa's many verandahs. But Gibralter, Rondo and the other white villiages, Jerez, and Roman ruins also called.

This is a truly spectacular and very different place to stay: up in the mountains with amazing scenery but within striking distance of the coast. You will see a very different side of Spain including the wildlife: wild boar, salamanders, mountain goats, vultures and praying mantis were seen on our many walks around the villa. The villa itself is an unusual and clever design. Open plan for family living but with secluded areas where you can get away from people and enjoy the peace. All the rooms are furnished and equiped to a high standard and tastefully done in an authentic style in keeping with the rural character of the area. We stayed with another family and found it well equipped and very spacious for four adults and three children. The pool is great (important when you've got kids) and everything we needed was there.

What a lovely, elegant and comfortable house! And the owners have great taste in books and DVDs. The pool area is lovely too. We enjoyed the spectacular mountain views during the day, the local wildlife and birds and star gazing at night. The nearby coastal town is very unspoilt, and accessible. We will definitely be making a return visit.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay in this stunning villa. The location is exceptional with views for miles in all directions across the National Parks and out across Gibralter, and yet it is also close to amenities. We will particularly remember a lovely casual lunch down at the beach and a ramble up to the top of the Crestillina above the house. The villa itself had everything we needed and lazing by the pool amidst the views is hard to beat for sheer relaxation value.

"Finca Las Aguillas" What a perfect name for the perfect retreat. I have stayed several times both in the main house and the cassita, on my own and with a larger family group. The accomadation is so versatile and well equipt ( especially the kitchen! ) All bedrooms En suite, Sky TV, Radio, beautiful pool and terrace area with loungers and BBQ, there's truely everything you need, home from home!. The Sierra crestellina mountain, veiws across the Ronda Valley or views to the coast and Gibraltar beyond is the greeting you receive every morning. Stunning!. You are ideally placed for the Costa del sol, Larger cities like Seville and granada are within 2 hrs drive. In a nutshell Finca Las Aguillas is ideal for a base to travel and see andalucia, or stay and relax as though you are at home, or both!! Perfect!!

We loved our stay in your very beautiful and very comfortable house. It provided everything we needed to make our stay so relaxing. The location was perfect for us - tranquil and peaceful and ideal for exploring this glorious part of Spain. It was wonderful to wake up every morning to those superb views - especially across the valley towards Gaucin and then watch the equally spectacular sunsets. We definitely will be returning.
