Our property ideally located on Taylor Street, one block away from Huntington Park, Grace Cathedral, The Fairmont and Mark Hopkins hotels. The Nob Hill neighborhood is a very charming residential area graced with Victorian and Edwardian architecture, small cafes and corner grocery stores.
Public transportation is easy to accessible. The cable car lines to Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square are two blocks away, local bus lines to the financial district and other locals are only a block away and most popular sightseeing areas such as China Town and North Beach are all within easy within walking distance.
Our property, a classic San Francisco Edwardian, was built in 1908 and this unit is located on the third and fourth floor of the building and entryway from the street.
The first level has a spacious living room with bay windows that offer views of Grace Cathedral. The formal diningroom can easily accomodate 8 to and has beautiful period details. A well-appointed, two-story flat awaited me in the San Francisco Nob Hill district. As I entered the home, I was lulled up the stairs by classical music playing from an antique-style radio. Natural light poured in through the tall widows flanking the main living and sitting rooms. An inviting bay window provided the perfect view of Taylor Street’s rich architectural facades.
The real surprise was located off the master bedroom on the second floor. A set of French doors opened to a delightful little balcony with a truly breath-taking view of the bay. The outdoor area provided the perfect location for sipping morning coffee or watching the colors change at sunset.
The owner of the home kindly left us with welcome treats, which included a fresh loaf of sourdough bread (toasted and served with peanut butter and honey – a bear’s favorite treat!), Ghirardelli chocolate squares, a bottle of Pellegrino, and a vase of gorgeous yellow daffodils that bloomed throughout our entire stay. Guests of this home also receive a resident’s pass to a covered garage located just a block down the street, so driving in and out of the area is a breeze.
Within the same block of the home, I discovered a quaint restaurant offering authentic home-style Italian dining. Not only was the food fresh and flavorful, but the accompanying focaccia was worth writing home about! A small convenience store, well-stocked with last-minute necessities, was located a few doors down from a dry cleaners.
The Nob Hill neighborhood is known for its historic landmarks and the Grace Cathedral was also within block away from the home. A brief walk by foot transported us into another culture to nearby Chinatown. After eating an abundant and delicious lunch, I appreciated that the steep San Francisco streets offered a challenging walking back. If you choose public transportation, the Muni bus, or a cab are both easily accessible within a block’s walking distance of the home.
With all the amenities of a well-kept home and the convenience of its location, this beautiful flat provides the perfect opportunity to discover all the unique and historical attractions that San Francisco has to offer!

This was our first experience with a Vacation Rental, and we couldn't have been happier! The location of this townhome is perfect! We bought muni passes that were good for any buses or cable cars, and we usually took advantage of the cable cars to get us downtown or Fisherman's Wharf. The townhouse was just as promised, and was so ideal for our family to "hang out" in during our stay - We would have needed 3 hotel rooms and then we would not have had the living room to visit or watch TV together - not to mention the kitchen and dining room. It would have been a very different trip! The owner also provided us with a pack 'n' play and toys for the little one in our group! And for the rest of us: a fresh loaf of San Francisco Sour Dough Bread was waiting for us on the kitchen table. I heartily recommend this townhome for anyone looking for accommodations in SF! You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Karen - Thank you for being our guests! So glad you enjoyed you stay.

Our family enjoyed our stay in this apartment very much. The pictures are accurate, the apartment very clean and spacious. We were a family of 4; parents, grandpa, teenage son. Everyone had their own space and we were able to entertain an additional 4 people at the dining room table and in the living room area in comfort. Having the Nob Hill Cafe next door and a convenience store down the block were a great plus. Stairs to apartment were a bit of work out for Grandpa but he said the accomodations were worth it. We would love to stay again, even considered moving in! Cable car is two blocks up, Grace Cathedral nearby, beautiful to look at with yoga classes open to public, Peet's Coffee in basement area. Easy access to Union Square. Owner was lovely and gave great advice.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

This was the perfect location for what we needed on our last trip to SF - close to financial district, Union Square / shopping, Chinatown, cable car lines, you name it. The flat is roomy and accurately described on the listing. We were 2 couples and 1 single and had more than ample room. Very comfortable and nicely furnished - we will definitely go back if we have a group that size again. Jill's extra touches are great - fresh flowers and bread. We were there for 5 nights and it was such a treat to feel right at home. As others have mentioned - if you don't like stairs, this isn't the place for you. However, you're going to be walking hills anyway because that's part of being in SF! One more thing - the rooftop patio is such an added bonus and window views are great.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My family (two adults and four children ages six through 12) Stayed here over early spring break 2013. The property is beautiful. A third / fourth floor walk up on a street half a block from the main square housing Grace Cathedral, the Fairmont, and the Mark Hopkins. The property was very well appointed and very comfortable. The location honestly could not be better. We were a fun cable car ride from all family-friendly activities, a two block walk downhill to the cable car museum, next door to a wonderful Italian restaurant, with a small grocery store 200 feet away. We loved every minute of it, and the location and comfort of this property eere very big factors. I especially loved having the rooftop deck to look out over the bay in the mornings. The beds are very comfortable and we all slept well. This is something I cannot say for many properties I have stayed at before, both through VRBO and at hotels. I would give this property my highest possible recommendation. In fact, I already have to several friends. As a disclaimer, I do not know the owner, nor have I ever met the owner personally. I'm not receiving anything for writing this review.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, families with teenagers.

The house offered fantastic accommodation for our family of 5. There was plenty of space and bedrooms to fit us all and the central location was convenient to the nearby cable car lines in either direction to Union Square or Pier 39. Would have no hesitation in recommending it to families looking for very comfortable and spacious accommodation.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

If you want to experience the real San Francisco, forget the overpriced hotels and choose the apartment at 1130 Taylor Street, Nob Hill! Myself and a group of colleagues from the UK visited the City by the Bay for the worlds largest Public Health conference. The decision to choose this property was based on economics (great value for money) and location. But having called the place home for a week, the decision to return will be based on the great experience of the City which was enhanced by staying at this great apartment. The process of booking was very smooth, and the owner was very helpful (even leaving a fresh loaf of sourdough bread, which is a must try). A first word of warning, when you go through the front door you are greeted by a daunting staircase, but scaling those stairs is well worth it and gives you good practice for the many hill you will encounter in San Francisco. The apartment was immaculate and being fortunate to have stayed the first night on my own I could appreciate the property and all it has to offer, including the amazing views from the roof terrace. The location and surrounding area is also worthy of a mention. Huntington Park and Grace Cathedral are a short walk from the apartment, China Town within easy walking distance and if you head to the right upon leaving the property and tackle a rather steep hill, you are rewarded with stunning views of Alcatraz (this must be visted!) and Coit Tower (which is worth a visit, particulary for its vantage point and views over the City and of the Golden Gate Bridge just as long as it is not misty!). Speaking for myself, this was the first time I had rented an apartment, and based on this experience I am sure I will do so again in the future. My only hope is that any future experience of property rental is as smooth and that the property itself is as pleasureable as the recent stay in Nob Hill.Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We just finished a wonderful trip with family made all the more so due to this lovely home in San Francisco. The owner is so helpful and very interested in making your visit special and comfortable. The upstairs masters suite with sitting room and large bath has its own rooftop garden area - a perfect lookout for Coit Tower. We did have a car but you do not need one with trolley cars and buses so close by. Grace Cathedral is beautiful and you have a convenient neighborhood grocery less than a half a block away. Oh, we hope to be back soon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Two grandparents, parent and three kids stayed here for a week. We had a wonderful time. The place is spacious, location is great, muni options close, park close, Nob Hill cafe close, corner market close. We were able to get to wharf area, marina area, south beach area, financial district, etc from this central location. The beds were comfortable & living space great for us to spread out. Loved the gift of sourdough bread and coffee and appreciated the basics being there like sugar, salt, odds and ends of cereal & other foods, plastic baggies, etc. Some VRBO's have not furnished toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap. There was even a nice selection of Legos and games which the kids enjoyed. Great tourist info available, esp. liked box of walking tours. Being so close to Grace Cathedral was a plus. We did not find the steps to the apartment a problem..easier than the many steep hills! Owner was great to work with. I am SO glad we were able to stay here! Highly recommend this place.Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

The townhouse was amazing. It was very clean and located in a great area. The owner had left us two loaves of sour dough bread and fresh flowers in the master bedroom. We arrived an hour before check-in and had a fabulous lunch at the Nob Hill Cafe that is only two doors down from the residence and recommended to us by the owner. We were traveling with our three adult children and our son-in-law and it was wonderful that everyone had their own space. We were able to walk to Chinatown, the North Beach area, and the Coit tower. After a full day of sight seeing, it was nice to return to our little oasis and relax with appetizers on the roof patio. My only negative would be that the stairs leading up to the apartment might be difficult for older guests to navigate.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
