My husband and I purchased our ranch in 1999 and lived there for 5 years before his job moved us elsewhere. We ran a small horse boarding business in the early days and love keeping horses to this day. We appreciate our unique land, it's privacy, and all the wildlife....it is our dream to retire here someday!

THE ULTIMATE COLORADO VACATION RENTAL

Guest: Rick S (Rogers, Texas)
Date of Stay: 12/27/08 Review Submitted: 01/07/09

Where do I start! The home was exceptional in all aspects! Clean, spacious, well stocked and so very cozy! The location afforded tremendous privacy and the opportunity to truly relax and enjoy our vacation without worrying about the children bothering anyone by with their extreme exuberance! We love the outdoors and this is where the home excels..National Forest and wildlife in abundance..I have had good experiences with all my previous vacation rentals but nothing compares to this home! By the way, Anne Tomforde is expetionally nice and a pleasure to work with and Chuck, the ranch foreman so to speak, is great and very helpful! We liked him enough to ask him to share our final meal at the home with us! You can't go wrong with this property; dont be put off by the 25 minute drive to Pagosa, the setting and privacy more than compensate for that and it makes the Durango area much more convenient! In the end..I can tell you this was one of the most special weeks that my family has ever spent together!

Owner response:We are so happy when others enjoy and appreciate our mountain retreat as much as we do! It is such a pleasure to share our home and ranch so that other families can also create special memories there.

Remote, beautiful, just as described (maybe a bit better)!. got a chance for a little horseback lesson/ride from Bill, the ranch manager and awesome horseman. Taught me a lot, and had a beautiful ride. I would come back here if i get the chance. Anne, owner, was very nice and responsive to a zillion questions I had. Even saw a bear cub! Lots of room for the dogs to run, great access to USFS land for exploration.

Beautiful Location!!!

Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 09/16/10

We are in complete agreement with the Gentleman from Texas and his review! Wow! The cabin is in an absolutely beautiful valley. I only wish I brought my horses! The cabin was clean, spacious and very well stocked! We slept like babies (even the kids!) in extremely comfortable and clean beds. The kids had plenty of space to explore and the little creek was a daily spot of rock collecting and bug examining. If you are the outdoorsy type, this is a perfect 'home base' to Williams Creek Reservoir and Chimney Rock. We also recommend taking the tour at Chimney Rock. Truly an amazing vacation and I am going to contact Anne about a family reunion!!! We never even made it into Pagosa Springs, as we were just comfortable hanging out in the peace and quite of nature. Thanks again!

Pagosa Springs Colorado House 173567

Guest: BB (Cadiz, Ky)
Date of Stay: 08/16/10 Review Submitted: 09/10/10

We have enjoyed this vacation rental for a month Aug.2010 and two weeks Aug. 2011. We plan to return again next summer. It is a beautiful setting and the home includes all the amenities to make you feel at home. It also has a mud room which was perfect for leaving our dog when we went shopping. We also checked out the boarding kennel at Elk Park Animal clinic in case we wanted to take a long day trip or overnighter.

Peace and Quiet

Guest: --- (Flower Mound, TX)
Date of Stay: 06/30/10 Review Submitted: 07/23/10

My family stayed in Anne's home the first week of July 2010. It was quiet, relaxing, and great for stargazing at night. We enjoyed having a campfire several nights we were there. I really appreciated how fully stocked the kitchen was with not only pots and pans, dishes, and such, but with salt and pepper and several other spices. So nice not to have to bring dishwashing detergent, etc. The home is located at the end of a quiet road so there is no traffic going by, which was really nice. We also appreciated the fans in the house to cool it off in the late afternoon. I think we used the gas grill nearly every night - so nice to have that available. This is a great place to stay to get away from city noise and lights. It was great to be able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh crisp Colorado air.

Great Home Away From Home

Guest: Karl & Teri (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 06/10/09 Review Submitted: 06/16/09

We (three couples) rented this home for a week as a base home for riding our motorcycles. The location was a central point for several day rides. The gravel road was well maintained and easy to navigate with the bikes. Having three bedrooms and three bathrooms worked very well for us. We used the outside fire pit for roasting dogs and making smores. The gas barbecue grill was handy for several quick meals. We appreciated having everything there that we needed to really enjoy our stay, a great home away from home. We enjoyed feeding the horses and Chuck, who gave us a detailed orientation and then let us enjoy the home. The wild turkeys were a pleasure to see and hear (hope the coyotes stay away). We were able to watch the NBA playoffs with very good satellite reception. We will highly recommend this home and serene environment to our friends who want to stay in this area. Thank you very much Phillip and Anne. Karl & Teri

Great Place!!!

What a wonderful place to stay. If you are looking for off the beaten path, this is the place! My family and I stayed for a week and we only saw one car during that time. We had wild turkey's within steps of the house each morning. Twice we saw elk in the pasture! We also saw mule deer each day. The caretaker Chuck was very nice and accomdating. We all are looking forward to the next time we can make it to this place.

Beautiful house in a beautiful location. Stayed here during Xmas week and it snowed the whole time. My family and I truly enjoyed our stay and are planning on returning in July. And Chuck, the ranch caretaker goes above and beyond in making sure all is well.

Beautiful!

Guest: Brandie D. (Wylie,Texas)
Date of Stay: 11/21/08 Review Submitted: 12/09/08

My family of 5 joined a family of 6 and we rented this property together..and I have to say I was nervous about the space---nothing to worry about, the mother-n-law quarters is downstairs around the corner ,so a perfect place to send kids for quiet time! The house was very well stocked..lots of firewood for inside and outside fires. The house is last on the left so lots of privacy. The view from living room looked like a picture..I loved sitting in the chair and just staring at the scenery.Every morning lots of deer in the yard. The pictures do not even begin to show how beautiful, clean and spacious it is.The stable guy (Chuck I think--sorry if the name is wrong) was so nice and told us the do's and don'ts ,what to watch out for, what the best places are to see and do---great guy! When we go back we will stay here again!

Beautiful and peaceful!

Guest: Kansas traveler (Lawrence, KS)
Date of Stay: 05/20/08 Review Submitted: 05/27/08

The first thing we noticed was how clean the house was. Beds and linens were exceptional. We were there in late May the temp went for 80 to snow in 24 hours--only in Colorado! We did a lot of hiking around the property and had a wonderful time watching the horses, birds and wildlife.
