Lovely Romantic Retreat

Guest: Emma R.
Date of Stay: 01/14/12 Review Submitted: 01/16/12

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bramble Rose Cottage January 14-16th 2012. It was exactly what I had hoped for when first looking for accommodations in NOTL. This cottage is charming, cozy, and exceeded all my expectations. It is decorated beautifully, has a full kitchen equipped with all the tools you could possibly need, the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely linens, and there were many games, as well as tourist information provided. It is also extremely close to anything you could want to do in NOTL. We were in town for the Icewine festival, and the Bramble Rose Cottage was within a 10 minute drive of all the wineries we wanted to visit (we went to six but there were many more to choose from!). The property was very clean and well maintained and there were plenty of extra blankets and towels. In addition there are fireplaces in the both the bedroom and living room which added an extra bit of charm. In addition the owners were very easy to get a hold of and communicate with about all arrangements before, and during our stay. If I were to come back to NOTL I wouldn't even think of staying somewhere else :)

Cozy, romantic getaway

The cottage was truly a perfect romantic and cozy getaway in a terrific location. Even though the weather was not great, the stay was relaxing and enjoyable. Close to town, the Falls and local wineries. I drove all the way from Virginia and would do it again in a heartbeat....and hope to sometime! Also, Gideon and Irene made everything smooth, easy and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Perfect R & R Retreat!

Guest: Cheryl B. (Joplin, Missouri)
Date of Stay: 12/07/11 Review Submitted: 12/18/11

Bramble Rose Cottage is everything we expected and more! After spending 13 days there, we would love to have stayed 13 more. The cottage is so cozy, tastefully decorated, completely updated, and we felt right at home. Everything you need is there: washer/dryer, cookware & utensils, wonderful linens, TV/DVD, & even books & games. Gideon, Irene, & their sons were very gracious hosts and very accomodating. The quaint town of Niagara-On-The-Lake is full of history and everything is just a short walk from the cottage. Lake Ontario borders this small town and is just a short walk, as well. We completely enjoyed the Christmas Parade. Our daily walks took us to Fort George, Fort Mississauga, Lake Ontario, & the town's grocery store for whatever we needed! We look forward to coming back to Bramble Rose in the summertime to see the beauty of the community and enjoy the patio & everything this cottage has to offer. Thank you, Gideon & Irene!

Owner response:Thank you Cheryl! It was great hosting you at our Bramble Rose Cottage. Have a safe return home. Gideon and Irene

Bramble Rose Cottage is a Delight

Guest: Jann (Picton, Ontario.)
Date of Stay: 09/19/11 Review Submitted: 11/12/11

I spent most of a week at this lovely little cottage in NOTL and would recommend it to anyone who wants a little place of their own in which to live while visiting the area. B&Bs are fine but if you are like me and never really feel at home in them, this is a financially comparable experience and I felt really comfortable here. The owners live next door so if there is a problem, they can help [for instance, I could not figure out the TV, duh!] but they are never intrusive. The house is tiny but there is a little terrace in back and absolutely everything one could want for day to day living. I walked everywhere. It is only a couple of blocks to Tim Hortons, the grocery store, Starbucks, and not much further to the theatres. It was perfect for one, and would be also great for a couple, or probably even a small family. My only reluctance in writing such a glowing review is that there will be more people, possibly, to compete with to book it!

A Cozy Spot

We read the glowing reviews before booking this cottage. We were not disappointed! The cottage is quaint and extremely clean. We enjoyed cooking a delicious steak dinner using the bbq. After a cool fall round of golf we warmed up by the fireplace. The cottage is great and Niagara on the Lake is a beautiful place to visit. Sandra and Tom

Cozy catch up time with sister at Bramble Rose Cottage

Guest: sister (Ontario)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/28/11

My sister and I recently stayed at the charming Bramble Rose Cottage and I have already recommended it to a friend. Such a lovely spot, and very conveniently located No need to eat out every meal – just take advantage of the nearby local bakery and markets – and the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen. Clean and modern, the cottage has period touches that are warm and welcoming. The skylights are wonderful – lots of light during the day – and the evening sky at night. We visited in the fall and can well imagine how beautiful the gardens must be in the summer. I look forward to a return visit.

Serenity Now

This was our second time to stay at Bramble Rose, and it will not be our last. Like many people today, our lives are busy and stress-filled. When we stay at this cozy haven, it is all left behind. The kitchen is quite well equipped, certainly for most of the basics. I love to cook, so I bring a few of my favourite kitchen tools--but just because I enjoy cooking with my equipment, it is not neccessary. And if you don't fancy cooking on your escape, there are plenty of restaurants to take care of you. The kitchen/living area is open concept and we find it a relaxing place. There is a gas fireplace that heats the house in colder months. The bedroom offers a comfortable bed and bathroom. There is only a shower in the bath, but my wife, who loves to take baths, happily gives up her soaking time to stay here. Lack of a bath is not a problem for us. The bathroom is well equipped with soaps, shampoos, hairdryer, and everything you would find in a hotel room. The cottage offers easy internet access via wireless router. There is a TV/DVD player, but we did not use it. We love the location. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the main street in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is SO peaceful. When we leave Bramble Rose, we are rested with renewed energy.

Perfect cozy cottage for 2-4

This cottage is quiet and private, yet close to the heart of old town Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Zoom bike rental place is 1 block away and we biked everywhere: town, theatre, Fort George, wineries. One could even bike to Niagara Falls from here! The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable and we enjoyed cooking, grilling and eating on the back patio.

Another wonderful stay!

Date of Stay: 09/02/11 Review Submitted: 09/12/11

My husband and I have celebrated my birthday in Niagara on the Lake for the last several years, each time we have stayed at Bramble Rose Cottage. This lovely, quaint cottage is the perfect place to stay; comforting, serene and complete with all the amenities from home. Decorated beautifully this pretty cottage leaves you wanting to settle in and enjoy a delicious meal in the wonderful kitchen, lounge about in the cozy parlor or indulge in a glass of wine outside on the back patio. The bedroom is simply amazing; the fresh, exquisite linens dare you to get up in the morning and the newly added fireplace adds to the romantic setting. After each stay, we begin our trip home by stopping at Willow Cakes bakery which is minutes from Bramble Rose. We enjoy a coffee and pastry as we talk about how we cannot wait to return to our little home away from home. There is absolutely no where else we would care to stay when visiting Niagara on the Lake.

Cozy Comfort

Date of Stay: 08/17/11 Review Submitted: 09/09/11

We've been to NOTL many times, staying in B&B's and cottages. Overall, this is the most comfortable place we have stayed, hands down. A functional kitchen, lovely bath, nice linens and a nice place to eat outside. Fantastic grill. I would rather not have a skylight in my bedroom after a late night at the theatre, but that was the only downside. The location is good, not too noisy and the owners are very friendly and helpful.
