Liked it!

This is a clean and comfortable place in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is a short walking distance to a Tim Horton's and a gas station (to get a paper and coffee in the morning). Also, you can walk from here to the Waterfront trail. One day we went to the Albert-Knox gallery in Buffalo and enjoyed a longer hike in Darien Lake State Park. Also, the Pie Plate (on Niagara Stone Road) has tasty food in a cozy atmosphere. We would definitely recommend it to friends!

Owner response:Thank you. see you again soon.

Bramble Rose Cottage

Guest: Dan M.
Date of Stay: 02/18/12 Review Submitted: 02/26/12

If you are staying in Niagra on the Lake, Bramble Rose is a nice place to call home. The cottage is very well appointed with high quality furnishings and linens. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and the appliances are in excellent condition. The home is located in a very nice neighborhood and within walking distance to town. The home is located close to several wineries and the bike trail. We would recommend the Bramble Rose to friends and family for a couples get away. Very cozy. Dan and Diane M. Ohio.

Owner response:It was good to have host you, Dan and Diane. Hope to see you again soon

Lovely Romantic Retreat

Guest: Emma R.
Date of Stay: 01/14/12 Review Submitted: 01/16/12

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bramble Rose Cottage January 14-16th 2012. It was exactly what I had hoped for when first looking for accommodations in NOTL. This cottage is charming, cozy, and exceeded all my expectations. It is decorated beautifully, has a full kitchen equipped with all the tools you could possibly need, the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely linens, and there were many games, as well as tourist information provided. It is also extremely close to anything you could want to do in NOTL. We were in town for the Icewine festival, and the Bramble Rose Cottage was within a 10 minute drive of all the wineries we wanted to visit (we went to six but there were many more to choose from!). The property was very clean and well maintained and there were plenty of extra blankets and towels. In addition there are fireplaces in the both the bedroom and living room which added an extra bit of charm. In addition the owners were very easy to get a hold of and communicate with about all arrangements before, and during our stay. If I were to come back to NOTL I wouldn't even think of staying somewhere else :)

Cozy, romantic getaway

Guest: Heather
Date of Stay: 12/29/11 Review Submitted: 01/04/12

The cottage was truly a perfect romantic and cozy getaway in a terrific location. Even though the weather was not great, the stay was relaxing and enjoyable. Close to town, the Falls and local wineries. I drove all the way from Virginia and would do it again in a heartbeat....and hope to sometime! Also, Gideon and Irene made everything smooth, easy and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Perfect R & R Retreat!

Guest: Cheryl B. (Joplin, Missouri)
Date of Stay: 12/07/11 Review Submitted: 12/18/11

Bramble Rose Cottage is everything we expected and more! After spending 13 days there, we would love to have stayed 13 more. The cottage is so cozy, tastefully decorated, completely updated, and we felt right at home. Everything you need is there: washer/dryer, cookware & utensils, wonderful linens, TV/DVD, & even books & games. Gideon, Irene, & their sons were very gracious hosts and very accomodating. The quaint town of Niagara-On-The-Lake is full of history and everything is just a short walk from the cottage. Lake Ontario borders this small town and is just a short walk, as well. We completely enjoyed the Christmas Parade. Our daily walks took us to Fort George, Fort Mississauga, Lake Ontario, & the town's grocery store for whatever we needed! We look forward to coming back to Bramble Rose in the summertime to see the beauty of the community and enjoy the patio & everything this cottage has to offer. Thank you, Gideon & Irene!

Owner response:Thank you Cheryl! It was great hosting you at our Bramble Rose Cottage. Have a safe return home. Gideon and Irene

We read the glowing reviews before booking this cottage. We were not disappointed! The cottage is quaint and extremely clean. We enjoyed cooking a delicious steak dinner using the bbq. After a cool fall round of golf we warmed up by the fireplace. The cottage is great and Niagara on the Lake is a beautiful place to visit. Sandra and Tom

Cozy catch up time with sister at Bramble Rose Cottage

Guest: sister (Ontario)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/28/11

My sister and I recently stayed at the charming Bramble Rose Cottage and I have already recommended it to a friend. Such a lovely spot, and very conveniently located No need to eat out every meal – just take advantage of the nearby local bakery and markets – and the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen. Clean and modern, the cottage has period touches that are warm and welcoming. The skylights are wonderful – lots of light during the day – and the evening sky at night. We visited in the fall and can well imagine how beautiful the gardens must be in the summer. I look forward to a return visit.

Serenity Now

This was our second time to stay at Bramble Rose, and it will not be our last. Like many people today, our lives are busy and stress-filled. When we stay at this cozy haven, it is all left behind. The kitchen is quite well equipped, certainly for most of the basics. I love to cook, so I bring a few of my favourite kitchen tools--but just because I enjoy cooking with my equipment, it is not neccessary. And if you don't fancy cooking on your escape, there are plenty of restaurants to take care of you. The kitchen/living area is open concept and we find it a relaxing place. There is a gas fireplace that heats the house in colder months. The bedroom offers a comfortable bed and bathroom. There is only a shower in the bath, but my wife, who loves to take baths, happily gives up her soaking time to stay here. Lack of a bath is not a problem for us. The bathroom is well equipped with soaps, shampoos, hairdryer, and everything you would find in a hotel room. The cottage offers easy internet access via wireless router. There is a TV/DVD player, but we did not use it. We love the location. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the main street in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is SO peaceful. When we leave Bramble Rose, we are rested with renewed energy.

Bramble Rose Cottage is a Delight

Guest: Jann (Picton, Ontario.)
Date of Stay: 09/19/11 Review Submitted: 11/12/11

I spent most of a week at this lovely little cottage in NOTL and would recommend it to anyone who wants a little place of their own in which to live while visiting the area. B&Bs are fine but if you are like me and never really feel at home in them, this is a financially comparable experience and I felt really comfortable here. The owners live next door so if there is a problem, they can help [for instance, I could not figure out the TV, duh!] but they are never intrusive. The house is tiny but there is a little terrace in back and absolutely everything one could want for day to day living. I walked everywhere. It is only a couple of blocks to Tim Hortons, the grocery store, Starbucks, and not much further to the theatres. It was perfect for one, and would be also great for a couple, or probably even a small family. My only reluctance in writing such a glowing review is that there will be more people, possibly, to compete with to book it!

This cottage is quiet and private, yet close to the heart of old town Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Zoom bike rental place is 1 block away and we biked everywhere: town, theatre, Fort George, wineries. One could even bike to Niagara Falls from here! The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable and we enjoyed cooking, grilling and eating on the back patio.

My husband and I have celebrated my birthday in Niagara on the Lake for the last several years, each time we have stayed at Bramble Rose Cottage. This lovely, quaint cottage is the perfect place to stay; comforting, serene and complete with all the amenities from home. Decorated beautifully this pretty cottage leaves you wanting to settle in and enjoy a delicious meal in the wonderful kitchen, lounge about in the cozy parlor or indulge in a glass of wine outside on the back patio. The bedroom is simply amazing; the fresh, exquisite linens dare you to get up in the morning and the newly added fireplace adds to the romantic setting. After each stay, we begin our trip home by stopping at Willow Cakes bakery which is minutes from Bramble Rose. We enjoy a coffee and pastry as we talk about how we cannot wait to return to our little home away from home. There is absolutely no where else we would care to stay when visiting Niagara on the Lake.

We've been to NOTL many times, staying in B&B's and cottages. Overall, this is the most comfortable place we have stayed, hands down. A functional kitchen, lovely bath, nice linens and a nice place to eat outside. Fantastic grill. I would rather not have a skylight in my bedroom after a late night at the theatre, but that was the only downside. The location is good, not too noisy and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

Four Star Cottage at Two Star Prices. What a Find!

Guest: Mike H. (Ajax, Ontario)
Date of Stay: 07/27/11 Review Submitted: 07/31/11

Niagara on the Lake is loaded with B&B's. If you like sharing a bathroom and seeing other people in their dressing gowns with bedhead, no problem. But if you want your own charming cottage that is so well appointed that you will log onto VRBO and write a positive review when you get home, then I suggest Bramble Rose. Be sure to take advantage of the private garden/grotto like setting on your private patio. The cottage, appointments and experience were flawless. Lots of interesting things to see walking distance from the cottage, but you will need to drive to the theatre - which is no big deal. Ideally, you bring your bikes.

Charming Cottage

Guest: Barbara L.
Date of Stay: 07/08/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

My husband and I and our adult student daughter had a very enjoyable stay at such a clean, comfortable, charming cottage with private patio. The luxurious linens, the skylights in every room, the artistic decorative touches and well stocked kitchen (including cookbooks and spices) made our stay very pleasant. We enjoyed our little visit with Irene and Gideon one balmy evening, before we spent the rest of the evening on the patio savouring some wine from our wine tasting adventure earlier in the day which also included a trip to the "Falls" and Fort George. A lovely place to relax before the next foray of visiting and sight seeing.

Owner response:Barbara! We were glad to be able to host you in our Bramble Rose Cottage. It was nice to chat with you a little and we are thankful to know that you, your husband and daughter enjoyed your time in Niagara on the Lake. Hope to see you again. Gideon and Irene

My family and I recently stayed at the Bramble Rose Cottage while visiting Niagara Falls and were very happy with our choice. The cottage is in a great location, within walking distance to the old NOTL downtown district and 20 minutes away from the Falls area. It was decorated beautifully. It has a lot of character but is also updated with all of the modern conveniences. We felt right at home upon walking in and enjoyed coming back to the cottage each night. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We thought it was very clean and cozy and in a great location to walk to town and nearby restaurants! Also, you cannot tell from the pictures but there are skylights in each room that let the natural sunlight in. Gideon and Irene are very sweet and accomodating. We will definitely be back!

We've spent two winter vacations at Bramble Rose, since we cannot afford Niagara on the Lake during the theater season. It is just the right size for a couple who wants to curl up with books, cook simple meals, and walk to the shops, cafes, parks, and other attractions in town. It is quiet, elegantly furnished, with a lot of charm, comfort, and convenience packed in to a small space.

Owner response:It was good to have you both at our Cottage this winter. Thanks. Irene and Gideon

This was our second time to stay at Bramble Rose, and we found it just as enchanting as the first. The decor has been thoughtfully selected, the kitchen is well stocked--even including a variety of cookbooks, the house is immaculate, and the owner/hosts are very solicitous of guests' well-being. The location is convenient to most area attractions, shopping and restaurants. We love the annual theatre events and the wineries and look forward to our next visit!

Magical Cottage

Guest: Liz (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 07/29/10 Review Submitted: 02/02/11

The Bramble Rose Cottage is idyllic! We rented the cottage for a long weekend spanning July/August of 2011...two adults and two teenage girls. The cottage is beautifully appointed, with lots of luxuries - lovely details everywhere, from the sweet front garden to the modern kitchen, and, my favorite - a private outdoor terrace, where we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast each day. Although easily accessed, the cottage is very quiet - our girls slept peacefully in the front room - and loved the cable TV! We were in NOTL for an event at Fort George - and were able to comfortably walk to the Fort, the waterfront, local groceries and fabulous restaurants. We had previously visited NOTL, and had camped nearby - but it was magical to stay in town, with all the amenities. Our entire family had a wonderful time, and we are so grateful to the owners, Gideon and Irene, for such lovely, (and yes - romantic!) lodgings, and also for taking the time to contact us and to mail back a few forgotten items! We all hope to be able to enjoy Bramble Rose Cottage again in the near future.

Owner response:Elizabeth Hi! Thanks so much for your kind remarks regarding our Bramble Rose Cottage. we are glad that you have enjoyed your stay with us in the town of Niagara On The Lake. Looking forward to host you again. Gideon and Irene

After a hectic time in Toronto for my brother's wedding, we loved coming to such lovely place. The cottage was as described and a short walk to the lake. It was perfect for us and our one year old crawler especially once the air con had kicked in. Really enjoyed quiet afternoons relaxing on the grass by the lake. Thank you for a great stay.

Summer at Niagara on the Lake

Date of Stay: 06/12/10 Review Submitted: 02/02/11

My husband and I stayed at Bramble Rose June 2010. The cottage was perfect. It was well decorated and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked. We cooked every day and had exactly what we needed. The location was great! You are close enough to town to walk but far enough that you do not feel overwhelmed by the crowds of people. We had a wonderful time going to wineries, the theatre and eating at some great restaurants. Each night we came home to a beautiful quiet cottage. Our only complaint was we couldn’t get the internet to work. We were not sure if it was the cottage or our American laptop? Great Vacation!!!

Owner response:Alynn Hi! Thanks for your comments about our Bramble Rose Cottage. we are glad that your stay was enjoyable and that you have found our Cottage to be perfect. We are sorry to learn that you could not connect to the internet. we are providing wireless internet access for all of our guests who come with their lap top. Take care. Irene and Gideon
