Our cottage was built in 1932 on a small private drive south of highway #27 and sits by itself in the dunes and pine forest along the Atlantic Ocean. The cottage has air-conditioning, an awesome country kitchen and great wood-burning fireplace. It has been lovingly maintained and upgraded year after year. The grounds are lovely. Rental includes weekly maid service. Located East of Amagansett on the Napeague Strip, this cottage is an inholding in Napeague State Park (Dune and Wildlife Preserve). The ocean is in your backyard, with miles of private and pristine Atlantic Ocean beachfront. Incredible sunrises and sunsets with views of Ocean and Bay.

In the dunes, off a private lane South of the highway through the Napeague Stretch, it has tremendous views of Napeague Bay, Lazy Point, and the Ocean. Surrounded by Napeague State Park, a 1364 acre dune preserve abundant with native wildlife and vegetation, there is a private path leading from the cottage to the quiet White Sands Beach bordering the park. At the ocean, you can surf, boogie board, sea kayak, kite-board, swim, sunbathe, hunt for shells, build sandcastles, walk for miles or just relax. Lazy Point, on the Bay, just minutes by bike or car, is known for swimming, sailing, boating, kayaking, shellfishing, windsurfing and parasailing and is also a wetland haven for birds and waterfowl. Back at the cottage, use the outdoor shower; then relax in a lounge chair or the hammock perched atop the dunes. Equipped with plenty of patio and lawn furniture, beach toys, (chairs, umbrellas, towels, beach bags, kadima, frisby, boogie boards, beach coolers).

There are two bedrooms on first floor each with two twin beds; and upstairs master bedroom with queen bed. One Full Bath plus an OUTDOOR SHOWER. Weber Gas Barbeque Grill. Patio off kitchen. This was the perfect place to stay while attending a conference in Sag Harbor a close 30 minute drive. Friends came along and used the beach, shopped in the towns of Amangansett and East Hampton. The cottage is surrounded by nature and a short 5 minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean beach. The house was perfect for me and 4 of my friends, though it will sleep 6. I would recommend this quaint cottage to those who like a sense of history by staying in a 1932 Cottage with charm and character. The couple who own the cottage are easy to work with to rent this lovely place, and are willing to share recommendations on where to visit, shop, (even second hand stores), and where the locals hang out. I will recommend and do recommend you come and stay at this quaint home.

Beauty is in the details. This Amagansett Cottage that my partner and I and our two dogs rented on the week of the 4th of July hit the spot for our first Hamptons summer getaway. The interior of the cottage is replete with so much Americana. You can't help but reflect on history and ask questions about how Americans lived a century or more ago. Lesson: You cannot take anything for granted. While the look and feel of the cottage is, rightfully, from the past, it has modern amenities including an air condition and sound system. In the sun room, we were able to catch up with our summer readings and I pain. As soon as you get out of the back door of the kitchen, you see the scattered pines that mark the begining of Napeague State Park! Then a few steps to the left, you descend towards a sand-filled spot with a natural grill using ready-chopped pine wood. Here, we spent a lot of time barbecuing butter steaks and shrimp from either Citarella (they have two stores in the Hamptons), Zabars or the local grocery. At night, after dinner, we sat around the fire, which kept the mosquitoes and other night creatures away. Then a few steps up from the grilling station, you reach a sand-dilled mound, which is the highest point of the property to enjoy a view of the dunes facing the Atlantic Ocean while sitting or swinging on a built-in white hammock. We took the liberty of moving the outdoor furniture and umbrella to the mound where we had our week-long summer meals: from breakfast to dinner. The path towards the Atlantic Ocean from the cottage is through a private trek that took us back to our island upbringing. There are baby pines on the path and clam shells. Our two dogs guided our path unleashed since this part of Amagansett is not crowded. We chose to walk straight out of the property. The less travelled path was the road with a sign that read: "Drive Slowly, Road Bends." Our stay at Amagansett was unforgettable, thanks in large part to the carefully placed details and well-planned layout of both the cottage and the land itself. Did we mention the outdoor shower, where we, including our dogs, washed off the Atlantic sand? Of course, the near-perfect summer sun during our whole week stay never disappointed. The property, which is located at the tail end of Amagansett, is also right on the border of Montauk, a strategic location for those of us who shy away from the touristy but thrive on the personal.

I work as an art dealer in New York, and needed an escape from the city. This Amagansett cottage was the perfect thing and only two and a half hours on a train from the city. It is close enough to town, but removed from the tightly packed neighborhoods of surrounding beach communities. The beach and the bay are a short walk from the backyard hammock, which I made great friends with. The area is also great for anyone who is looking for an artistic retreat. Feeling a bit burnt out by the city, Amagansett allowed me to recharge while remaining in an an artistic environment with a rich history. The cottage allows for seclusion and and expression. There are great places to work and create. The place can sleep six, and would be a great place for anyone looking to hold a art school for several weeks or take a sabbatical. Peter and Wendy keep the place in immaculate condition, and maintain its rustic charm. I will be bringing artists out there next summer to work and become inspired. Thank you Peter and Wendy!!

We are a couple who stayed for a week in July and had one of the best vacations ever. The house is like a French beach cottage - so comfortable and charming. We almost felt like house guests, not renters, because the cottage is outfitted and decorated like a real home. The property is very private - like a small oasis of green in the dunes - with birds and wildlife everywhere, great BBQ, nice picnic area, lovely landscaping. You can hear the ocean and watch the sunrise from bed in the bedroom upstairs, as well as sunset from the garden. We cooked everyday with the fabulous kitchen utensils! If you need a microwave or dishwasher this cottage might not be the right place for you, but we wanted an authentic experience and love to cook so that was no problem at all. A perfect beach is very close by. Napeague Harbour, the inlet on the other side, is amazing - perfect for windsurfing, kayaking, etc. Owners were very helpful with orientation and very responsive. We would definitely return!!

I spent 10 days at the cottage in late June and it was simply wonderful. It is in close proximity to the beach, which is often empty of visitors aside from a stray surfer or two (especially early in the morning). The cottage itself is comfy and sweet and well kitted out with all the usual amenities. The grounds are wonderful, with all manner of wildlife paying a visit while you gaze out a window or sit in a lounge chair. Can't recommend it enough!

We had a wonderful time in this lovely cottage. Our teenaged sons were very keen on watching the worldcup. Between beach visits (8min walk) we huddled at the lanai/porch and had fun following the "drama". We enjoyed venturing out to Montauk and Amagansett but enjoyed most meals at the outside patio. The house is secluded and very private. We brought our dogs who also seemed to enjoy themselves:-) (Beware of the ticks on Long Island) The beach is gorgeous, we enjoyed waterplay and long walks along the nature reserve. I would not recommend the place for small children or handicapped rentors. It is fairly small and full of the most delightful knick knacks and the main bedroom is upstairs. We would certainly come back here anytime.

My husband and I have spent many weeks at thiis cottage over the years. The cottage is indeed charming, and a vacation there is like a glimpse into the old style Hamptons summer experience. Time just slips away. The ocean is a few minute walk away; Amagansett is conveniently just 3 miles up the road. While the place may not be for everyone, it was perfect for us who enjoy the closeness of nature surrounding ocean, bay and dunes.
