My family really enjoyed their stay at the condo. The pool was close by and not too crowded. Great location to area attractions and Downtown. Kitchen nicely appointed, condo was clean and well stocked. It was nice to get my family together at the same location for this wedding. Underground parking was great - no hot cars. Beach access a little bit tricky but a few miles away was a drive-on section of the Beach that was most convenient for our large group with baby in tow.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for sharing our home away from home !

We really enjoyed our stay! This Condo is in an excellent location. You can relax on the beach away from the tourist crowd and be right in the middle of it at your leisure in minutes. It really is just moments from the Lighthouse and Historic District and on a Beautiful Beach. About 10 minutes. You really have the best of both worlds. The Condo and Property is clean and well maintained. The residents and staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved all the flowers along the path to the beach .When you arrive at the long dock over the Amazing sand dunes, the sight and sound of the waves put you in a trance. :) The owners have really taken the time to ensure your comfort and think of the details. They had beach chairs, umbrellas, and even kites for our use. They have a basket of maps , attraction brochures, and even menus to a few local Resturants. We loved the pancakes at Sea Oats Cafe. If you are on a budget and prefer to stay in for a night, the kitchen in the condo is great to cook in. The condo's kitchen was stocked with pot and pans, and any kitchen untensil you can think of needing. There are also gas grills available for use by every pool on the grounds. Every corner you turn reminds you to relax. The Lazy Boy in the living room is one of the most comfortable chairs I ever sat in. I enjoyed sitting in it and putting my feet up after a long day of sightseeing. The master bath also has a nice garden tub to soke in. If that was not enough the hot tub and pool were literally right around the corner from the unit. I highly recommend this Condo for your stay. It is perfect for families and Romantic Get Aways alike. We can't wait to go back. Thank You!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mary and Steven, glad you had a GREAT time !

The property was beautiful and the unit lovely on the inside, with the parking garage conveniently located. We had all the space and amenities needed there, and it was very close to eateries, downtown, and grocery. It was a bit farther from the beach than expected, making carrying beach gear cumbersome, so a wagon or cart of some sort would be helpful next time. Also, the view of the main road was a bit loud. For a family vacation, we will more than likely find a place to rent closer to the beach next time, but I would consider this property again for a girls trip or just sightseeing.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Kristine, thanks for your review. And will look forward to your "Girls" trip. Yes, there are four other condo's in front of us. But considering ours is only 6 yrs old, we are behind the 35 year old ones. I did have a fold up cart in the closet which you may have missed. Volume of noise changes with the season. Especially Bike Week, etc. But we sure love them. Thanks again, Janis and Steve

We stayed at condo two nights on our way to Disney from NC. Found condo to be very clean, very convenient and very well stocked with kitchen items. It is decorated nicely, the beach isn't a bad walk and downtown St. Augustine is just a short drive from condo. St. Augustine beach is beautiful! Would definitely return for another visit!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom, first floor condo, for 3 weeks in January 2011. The weather was cooler than we had expected, but we still had a great time. The condo is very clean, and beautifully decorated. The kitchen has plenty of cabinets, upgraded appliances, granite counter tops and is fully equipped. I can't think of anything we needed that the owner, Janis, didn't have in the condo. She was also available to contact, if needed. It is nicer and larger than the pictures suggest. Being on the first floor was very convenient and only steps to parking. The location is only a 15 min. drive to the Old Town, so we were able to make several visits, taking our time seeing the wonderful, historic, and beautiful sites. There are many restaurants in the Old Town, (had to eat at "Harry's"), as well as on St. Augustine Beach. Food shopping is also very convenient. There is a flea market at the Pier on Wednesdays and another on Saturdays at the Amphitheater where we enjoyed music, food, and the " arts and crafts". We took many walks (and a drive!) on the beach which was easily accessible. And, we were thrilled not to be in any of the 7 snow storms that our friends and family were experiencing up north. We had a fun time and look forward to staying at the condo again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Arlene and Rob, thanks for staying in our home. You were delightful guests.

My daughter and her husband from MD.,my daughter and husband from St Augustine, my son and I stayed in #102 for a week in Aug. Ryan's family from Gainesville stayed in Janis's other condo on the 3rd floor.,,,,,1st time we had all been together. We had a FABULOUS reunion; LOTS of FUN, FOOD, LAUGHTER.......we couldn't have had a better place to stay. The unit is clean, fully furnished with everything one could ever need, and Janis is always easy to get in touch with if need be. Of course we love the beach, and chose to stay close to home......we were not disappointed. The pools are close to the unit and never seemed to be crowded. I really liked the fact that beach towels were available in the condo. Thank you Janis, for letting us enjoy your "home"......we had the perfect vacation.Owner response: Jill, thank you and your family for sharing both our homes. It was such a pleaseure having your family there! Thanks again, and hope to see you in the near future!!

My family and I stayed in condo #102 in July 08; it is one of the nicest condos I have stayed in and can't wait to visit again. It was quiet and peaceful, and a short walk to the beach. The condo is beautifully decorated with very nice furnishings. It has all the amenities one would need away from home. Lots of restaurants nearby; Saltwater Cowboys is one of my favorites. The owners take very good care of this property and the rent is reasonable. I have recommended this property to all my friends!Owner response: We loved having Carol and family stay in our home. Thanks's for taking care of our home like it was yours !

We stayed in condo #102 and it was great! It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We felt like we were at home because everything we needed was there for us! The kitchen was fully furnished with items such as Tupperware, dishware, cookware, and a coffee maker. A complimentary bottle of wine was also provided. There are great restaurants nearby. We took our bicycles and rode to the Oasis restaurant just a short trip down the sidewalk. We rode them on the beach in the afternoon and took a moonlight stroll looking at the clear sky and feeling the ocean breeze. We also had our choice of several different pools and hot tubs to choose from between the condo and the beach. It is a quiet place to stay that does not feel touristy, but there are attractions minutes away and downtown St. Augustine (with great ice cream on St. George St.). The renters were very nice and accommodating, too. They really wanted to ensure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. We plan to go back in the future and would recommend this condo as a great place to stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: Janis & Steve Dittman....this is our home away from home. We love that we can walk easily to the beach and also drive on the beach. We are only 10 minutes from the downtown historic "Old City". We can check out the bikers or races in Daytona in one hour. Orlando is about an hour and a half. Whats not to love! Our home has everything you need. Just bring your food and clothes!
Why the Owner Chose Villas of Ocean Gate:
Our condo is a very short walk down a boardwalk path to the beach. You will pass two pools that are yours to use. There is a ramp just north of the condo to the beach ,where, like on few beaches, you can drive for miles. Need a shopping fix? In ten minutes you can be at Old City's downtown district or the shops on Hwy US 1. Another ten minutes will take you to a HUGE Outlet Mall on both sides of I-95.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Beautiful, comfortable! Easy to access. One unit is ground floor with a covered parking garage, the other is top floor (3rd floor) with easy access to stairs or elevator. All the culinary items you need. Lots of extra linens (and beach towels). Beach chairs.
