I want to first thank the owners of Lola Lakeside for keeping up such a nice cottage to stay in. My wife, My 15 month old daughter and myself had an amazing week there. I work 2 jobs and never really have time to relax so we decided to getaway to relax and we couldn't have picked a better place. This place was very well kept and clean plus the air conditioning was great. My wife is a little bit of a "crazy" mom when it comes to things with my daughter and she was overly impressed. She didn't mind at all that my daughter crawled around on the floors and there was so much room between the cottage and the lake for my daughter to play outside. The gazebo in the back was great and we enjoyed many nights listening music, drinking cocktails and playing cards while looking up at the beautiful stars over the lake. During the day I did a good amount of fishing and caught perch, sunnies, and small mouth bass. I would have liked to catch some walleye but there is always next time. The place was also such a nice short drive to bemus point and the nice little shops and restaurants. Our stay was amazing and I would highly recommend this place to couples, families, young and old. Thank you once again for making it the best week of our summer.

This lovely cottage was the scene of a romantic and well deserved getaway for my wife and I. We planned our stay for October 13th thru 19th and were not disappointed. Autumn in NY state is one of the most beautiful times of the year and this cottage only enhanced the enjoyment of our visit. I was most impressed at the cleanliness and attention to detail that the owners provided. Among the ammenities I enjoyed most were the Wi-Fi and the beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed morning coffee under the gazebo and on the couch in the cottage, both of which offered breathtaking views of the water. The sunset was equally amazing as we ate dinner in front of the blazing firepit. Nirvana for the romantic! We explored Jamestown, shopped and had "beers and beef-on-a-wek" in Bemus Point, and took in the "Fall Festival" at Peak-n-Peek resort. As a father of two teenage boys and an avid fisherman, I regret we didn't get out on the lake. This does, however, give us a perfect reason to return to Lola Lakeside. We very much look forward to our next visit.

The cottage was very clean and updated. The owners did a good job of providing many amenities and seem to care about the overall condition of the cottage. We did however run into some issues that prevented us from truly relaxing. The critters in the attic (bats and others) were very noisy in the evening! And they got worse as the week went on. After reading the journal in the cottage it appears that we were not the only ones that experienced this. There were a few things that I realize the owners don't have much control over however these are some things I wish I would have read in previous reviews so that we were more prepared....The large shaded yard was pleasant but the shoreline and closeness to the road were disappointing. The cottage was extremely close to the road and highway which was a little scary having two young children with us. The shoreline was very dirty- something we figured out is typical for this lake. Also, anyone over 6 ft tall will be hitting their heads on the cottage ceiling. The ceiling heights are different in every room and my husband who is 6' 3" was constantly hitting his head. :( Overall, I know the owners care about the comfort of those staying at the cottage but I wish I would have known about some of these things before we decided to stay here.
Owner response:It is unfortunate the posted reviews did not address your needs in choosing a cottage on Chautauqua Lake. We work very hard to maintain our property and are disappointed that the cottage did not provide you with the vacation you expected. The bat issue is a complicated one. Bats play an important role in pest management within the ecosystem of our area and they are not harmful to people. One bat can consume over one thousand mosquito size insects each night. They are able to access attics through the smallest of openings and it is illegal to kill them due to a severe drop in the bat population. The only solution is to bat-proof the building by blocking all possible entrances when all the bats are out. This can only be done during the early spring or from mid-August to mid-October, when their babies are able to leave the nest. The sound was brought to our attention by a family that commented in the journal. No other families have commented about them in the notes they leave us. We will certainly take the proper steps to rectify the problem at the appropriate time. The cottage is near Route 430, which is a two lane local road. The door of the cottage is more than 3 car lengths from the large shoulder of the road. I believe it is all relative to a parent’s degree of comfort. A previous family’s review recommended our property to families with children. The highway is elevated on a hill quite a distance, but in view, from the back of the cottage. It is impossible to consider the highway a safety issue – not only because of the distance, but because there is also a fence. Our lake has a variety of fresh water plants and has cycles in it’s ecology. At times the water is clear and at other times it is not. I assume this is what was meant by “dirty” because we do not have any garbage in our lake. Traditional cottages happen to have quirky features and ours has an archway that is low, in an area that does not need to be walked through. My 6’2” husband avoids it for the same reason. However, he does not need to duck anywhere else.

The owners are very friendly, honest and helpful. The bass fishing was awesome too. I would very highly recommend renting this cottage for your Chautauqua vacation!!

This is the cleanest, coziest cottage we've found on Chautauqua Lake. We loved the long dock and the fishing was great! The outdoor grill added to our enjoyment and we loved the entire week, (although the weather was cold by Florida standards). We hope to return next summer

LoLa Lakeside provided the perfect retreat for our family. The cottage is beautiful and my children loved their new "home." The water was warm and the fish bite. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer!!
Owner response:Happy to have you - glad you caught some fish! Hope to see you next year:)
