DEER LAKE!!! The Detroit Free Press/News called it "The Undiscovered Jewel Of The North." Toast marshmallows and roast hot dogs over a campfire on the beach. From the home's spacious balcony or from the private beach, view the spectacular sunsets that set the water on fire. Bring your kayaks and canoes and paddle among the lily pads, turtles and ducks.
The breeze is often excellent for your smaller summer or winter sail boats. All your larger toys can be launched from the convenient public access. Sunbathe, read a book and enjoy the quiet that only a secluded inland lake can offer. Walk out into the water for 100 feet. Relax, your children can more safely use their water toys. Jet skis are also seen on the lake. Bring yours if you like or rent one nearby.
Enjoy the lakes wildlife. It's called Deer Lake for a reason. At dusk and dawn they can be seen around the lake. Spot our resident Bald Eagles and watch our Osprey catch the fish that got away. Or, give him some competition yourself. Show the kids how it's done. The locals love to fish this lake. You will too!!
Want more action? Drive 5 minutes over the mountain pass and enjoy Boyne Mountain's Avalanche Water Park (all seasons.) There are local marinas for jet ski and wave runner rentals. For a great "family vacation" this home cannot be beat!

This rental property worked very well for our family in winter 2012. The house was well maintained and stocked with everything needed from garbage bags to kitchen supplies. The renters were very easy going and made our experiance great. I would recomend this home on Deer Lake for a group up to 12 people summer or winter.
Owner response:We have so many wonderful families renting the home and we always appreciate when they take time to write a review. A fresh blanket of snow covered the area when this family arrived making there ski/snowboard experience at Boyne Mountain (5 minutes away) even better. We certainly hope you join us again in the near future.

Great layout with enough room for all! Three generations of family had a wonderful stay ~ enough beds, baths and room to stretch. The owners have done a wonderful job to make sure it is stocked with everything. I have been to many rentals with unmade beds, not enough t.p./paper towels/garbage bags/cleaning supplies ~ but not here! It was great! It was also stocked with plenty of dishes/pots & pans and utensils. The garage was great to keep our skiis/snowboards in ~ plus had a 2nd refrigerator! That's great when you have a large family to feed over the holidays! Would rent again anytime of year!

We just returned from an awesome week at this rental and we've already booked for next year! Look no further...this rental is everything the website says - and a lot more! Worth every dollar. Pristine clean and comfortable. My kids loved the lower garage with all the sand, water and outside toys. Kids love the lake which is only a foot deep for several yards out. House offers all the great things Michigan offers...lake, sand, campfire, family time, swimming, boating (paddleboat), etc. Wi Fi worked great - no problems. Extra refrigerator in garage came in handy. Everything well organized and clearly labeled throughout house. It's a home away from home! Close to town (about 6 minutes) and easy access to all 'up north' areas including Mackinac.

Completely as advertised. Very well maintained spacious home, located within a short distance to Boyne Mountain, Boyne City and others.. The lake out back is spectacular and if you're bringing children, they are in for a blast! The lake is very clean with a sandy shallow approach from the shore behind the house. Will definitely go again next year and as I said, don't look any further you can't go wrong.

Great place to stay with large family, no one underfoot and close enough to parks, lodge, and other necessities. Owners are friendly and accomodating. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this rental.

So close to many beautiful sites in Michigan. Home is right next to Boyne Mountain and just a short drive to Petosky, Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. You can walk to The Alpine Golf Course. Deer Lake is just beautiful and so is this immaculate home. Just bring your clothes, bikes and food because that is really all you need to bring. The house is equipped with everything else. My 11 year old and 7 year old boys can't wait to go back. Don't miss the ski lift rides in the evening

This house is outstanding! It had everything and more that was described and shown in the pictures. The beach and lake are perfect for children of all ages but especially young children. The lake is very shallow, sandy and clean. You have to go out very far before there is any danger of deep water. The house is very clean and well cared for and the owner is wonderful. This house is close to everything you may need - groceries, restaurants and/or activities. I would highly recommend this house to other families who are looking for a home away from home.

We rented this cottage last July with 3 families. We had 6 adults and 6 childre under 3. The house was very spacious, clean and well equiped. The backyard was very large, we had a lot of fun running around and playing sports with the kids. The lake was amazing! It was crystal clear and warm not to mention it was a perfect depth for the kids. The cottage is close to many small cities which were great to visit. The owner's daughter is close by if we had any problems we could contact them if needed.(which we didn't need to). One downfall was that there wasn't much of a beach to play on. I would highly recommend renting this cottage. We are actually looking to rent a cottage this year and we are having a difficult time finding one as nice.

Spent a delightful week here last Aug.2008. The house is huge and supplied with everything you would need except food. It is close to so many wonderful cities and restaurants and the weekly farmers market is just up the road. We had two families and had plenty of space for both. The place was extremely clean and comfortable. We felt right at home. The only draw back was how far out we had to walk to get to water that was deep enough to swim. But the water is warm and very shallow and it is ideal for young children. The lake bottom is very sandy and clean. We loved the huge lawn, the fire pit and the peacefulness of the surroundings. The owner's daughter lives close and is available for any problems that arise. (We lost power the first day, but it was quickly restored.)
