Enjoy the Santa Barbara life style in the charm of a country french luxury home.It is located on a beautiful street in one of the most sought after neighborhoods of Santa Barbara. Many sights and cafes are only a few blocks away, and the beach is just a five minute ride.
This french country-style home is close to everything, but located on a quiet lane away from the city noise. Built in 1929, the house exudes the charm of a bygone era, but has been updated and expanded with the latest amenities. It is elegantly furnished with many family antiques and custom artwork - details found only in a personal home.
The inviting old world looking kitchen is a gourmet's delight, with granite counters and hand-painted walls and stone floor. Gleaming hardwood floors flow through the rooms, out the french doors to the lushly landscaped courtyard. Here you will enjoy your morning orange juice, freshly squeezed from oranges picked from the orchard. The fountain, umbrella, and dining table make for enchanting entertaining while enjoying the mountain view. Garden lighting and a portable space heater will make cool evenings enjoyable.
The large master suite has a king-size bed, fireplace, walk-in closet, and flat screen TV. You will enjoy the view from the french doors that lead out to the courtyard, and revel in the sound of the fountain.
An elegant tumbled marble master bath includes an extra large shower, jacuzzi tub, double sinks, and dressing table.
The generous second master suite, located on the othr side of the house, provides complete privacy for you and your guests. The bright and airy bedroom includes two single beds, TV, and its own bath with shower.
A cozy den with flat screen TV and fireplace is just off the living room for enjoying an evening of quiet reading or TV.

All the 5 Star reviews previously written are right on, with the possible exception of the one that was somewhat disturbed by the wind chimes. We liked the chimes and their sound so much that we bought the identical set when we got home. Shirley and I are older and perhaps did not hear them as loudly as one of the previous renters. Enough said-their sound is outstanding. Now to the home. This home is beautifully furnished and appointed in a somewhat French Country antique style-even the roof design looks somewhat that way. Beds are very comfortable-Kitchen/Dining is great. Won't repeat all the great things stated by previous renters. We are from the desert and have been renting for the summers for many years along the CA coast. This is the best home we have ever rented and are coming back next year. PS: We left our Apple TV with them because the owner is such a nice person-ie-you have Netflix et al.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We originally came in November for a few weeks and liked the house so much we returned for seven weeks in February and March. This home is as elegant and beautiful as the pictures show it and beautifully maintained. The very private and beautiful patio is a wonderful place to relax with a cup of coffee in the morning, with a book in the afternoon, or a glass of wine in the evening. The inside of the house is filled with lovely furniture and is comfortably decorated to feel like you are in a good friends home--not a skinned down vacation rental. There are several cozy fireplaces that add to the ambiance. The owner is a lovely person who is very helpful and responds quickly to any questions. It is also a superb location; San Roque is a charming, friendly, convenient and safe neighborhood. This home is only a couple of blocks from State Street so it is a quick drive downtown and is only a couple of blocks from San Roque Blvd. which connects to Las Positas that takes you down to Hendry's Beach within a few minutes drive. Within walking distance is a premium grocery store, the town's best bookstore, lots of excellent restaurants, a beautiful day spa, and any services you might need. For food we particularly recommend Renauld's for croissants, breakfast, lunch; via Maestro 42 for any meals, and Harry's for a great martini. These are all within a short walk. A beautiful public golf course is within a mile of the house. The wine country in the area is fun to visit and the wineries are friendly. Santa Barbara is a laid back and beautiful place to visit any time of the year and this home in San Roque makes it all a convenient pleasure. We recommend it highly. And so does our golden retriever who settled in nicely.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I rented Susan's home for five weeks in the January - February timeframe. We very much enjoyed our time in the home, especially breakfasts in the sunny, large and attractive, enclosed patio. The patio furniture is very comfortable and we used the gas grill many times. Our pet cat enjoyed exploring and hanging out in the patio safe from neighborhood dogs and we were pleased that she was safety contained. The house is very comfortable and has all the features most folks would require, such as a study with internet access, cable TV, several fire places, a dining room seating six, and a kitchen with up to date appliances. The private guest quarters with two beds and an en suite bathroom is a definite plus. Susan's home is in an attractive and quiet neighborhood and she has friendly neighbors who extended their welcome to us. The home is conveniently located for easy automobile access to local grocery shopping, to downtown Santa Barbara, to the beach, and to the mountains for hiking. It is also possible to hike from the house to the Jesusita trail via Stevens Park. We would be glad to rent Susan's home in the future and would recommend the home to others.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Finally getting around to writing my review about our "home away from home". My wife and I rented Susan's home for the month of February to get away from Seattle's gray and wet winter weather. On arrival we found it to be more attractive than her photos depicted. The home has all the amenities we were accustomed to, which made our move seamless. It is charming and delightful, in a very peaceful neighborhood with other pretty homes. I'm a light sleeper and can testify to how quiet the nights are once I put the outdoor wind chimes in the garage. And the bed was top notch comfortable. The second bedroom suite was pronounced "perfect" by my cousin's wife during their 3 day visit from nearby LA. In 2 days I had the LA Times delivered to the front door, the TV sport channels humming and my usage of the downtown 24 Hour Fitness facility approved. The sun poured into the large outdoor private patio, kitchen, dining room almost each morning for a perfect start of day breakfast setting. The gardeners appeared like magic each week to keep things tidy and trimmed. The orange trees had lots of good size fruit but not ripe enough for eating, however were lovely to look at. My laptop internet connection went smoothly in the private separate office. The home's location, in San Roque area, is great if you are a hiker. Had no need to use the car for many hikes we took, like the great hike up to Inspiration Point. Can walk to the Mission and nearby park also. Location to shopping and post office is ideal....3 minute drive. Drive downtown or to the beach is a piece of cake. Nothing negative to say other than the days went by too quickly. We highly recommend Susan's home and you couldn't pick a nicer landlady...also helpful and gracious.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This property is a primo rental, nicely updated, in a great location, wonderful walking neighborhood, convenient to shopping, walking to the downtown, resturants, etc. The pictures don't do justice, wonderful back patio where we spent many hours. We brought our small size dog which was never a problem. The owner rented the property to us while she went on vacation. Often we would rent for 4-6 weeks at a time. It's close to the beach, golf, the gym, and a botanical garden which we joined. Also, close to the SB community education center where we took painting, sculpting, and spanish classes. At first we hesitated with this property because of the high deposit required but we could understand the concern because of this high class rental. We always treated the property with respect and our deposits were always returned promptly 100%. For more info. you can call us at 520-370-7175. We eventually purchased a property in northern Idaho and no longer need to rent a house for a summer getaway. Nevertheless, we have fond memories of our summers in SB at this rental.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities.
