Experience the beautiful Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina with our luxury 2 story log cabin. The Whispering Lake Lodge has everything you need to enjoy your get away. Relax in the 7 person hot tub on the wrap around porch or enjoy the sounds of the mountains from one of the oversize rocking chairs. Catch your favorite TV shows with our big screen TV and satellite system or entertain yourselves playing a game of pool on our pool table. Make use of our dock and spend your days on the lake fishing, swimming, or boating and your evenings by the cozy gas logs in the cabin or build a campfire and roast marshmallows in the fire pit. From the cabin, it is only a short walk to a quaint country store/gas station that has your basic groceries on hand. For informal dining, there is a small restaurant only a couple of minutes away. The town of Andrews is only 20 minutes away and has a grocery store, video store, movie theater, fast food, etc.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, enjoy fishing and boating activities on the lake. There is a boat ramp and dock available just behind the country store. For the fly fisherman, the Nantahala River is only minutes away. Rafting is also very popular on the river, with tours readily available. The river has several beautiful waterfalls that can be enjoyed from pullovers along the highway. For hikers, the Bartram Trail is a short walk below the cabin and the Appalachian Trail is only a short drive away. There is a mountain overlook only a few miles from the cabin, where the Bartram and Appalachian Trails meet. For the wildlife enthusiasts, there is an abundance of wildlife with wild turkeys, deer, bear, geese, ducks, and a variety of wild bird species.
Along with the wildlife, there is a range of native plant species with lovely flowers in the spring and summer. From the wildlife and the beautiful flowers in the spring and summer to the colorful deciduous trees in the fall and the snow in the winter, anytime is the right time to enjoy the mountains at the Whispering Lake Lodge.

Extra nice and clean cabin...Enjoyed the quiet and the ride thru Nantahala. Nature at it's finest. The cabin was well stocked with everything you needed (cooking utensils, etc)...Loved the hot tub and pool table...Rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed a relaxing day trip on Lake Nantahala...going back in July to white water raft...can't wait.....Only thing that was lacking was not being able to get cell phone reception.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My family along with our dear friends have made a weekend at Whispering Lake Lodge a must do every summer for the last 4 years. We absolutely love it there!!! One of the main reasons why is because it is so secluded. In a very good way! The cabin sets up on a hill by itself, so you enjoy privacy and the quiet of nature. The cabin has a fully equipped Kitchen so we bring lots of our favorite foods to prepare. There is an outdoor grill as well. And a fire pit where the teenagers love to cook their hotdogs on a stick as well as toasting marshmellows. The cabin is extremely clean, has air conditioning and a TV. I truly would not mind if it did not have a TV. If you have teenagers you know what I mean. The hot tub is great, as well as the Billiards Table. But, most of our time is spent on the Lake. What an incredible, awesome, clean Lake!!!!!!! The water is the most beautiful Teal with the sun shinning on it. And when you tread water and look down at your feet, you can see them, it's that clear and clean. I am horribly fussy about the quality of water I swim in, and at Lake Nantahala there is no hesitation to get in and swim. The water is refreshingly cool and I swear it has healing powers if you have sore joints or muscles. When you get out, you don't even need to shower. Plus, there are not a lot of people here, no crowds, just a nice amount of friendly people sharing this wonderful place. The wild life is amazing, last time we were up we saw a pair of Eagles. We have a small motor boat that we bring up, as well as a canoe, and we are currently investing in a few Kayaks which we will bring on our next trip. The teens love to swing off the rope swing we found out on the Lake. This is a get away type place, you have to love the tranquility of seclusion. The lack of commercialized entertainment and crowds. The folks who own the Lodge are very friendly and we look forward to seeing them every summer. They run the little country store and are right there if you need them. My only concern after writing this review is that too many people will visit and get hooked like we are, and if I may be selfish, I want it all to myself!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The cabin itself was very nice, well maintained and clean. However, YOU CANNOT SEE THE LAKE FROM THE CABIN, nor could you ACCESS the lake from the cabin without driving. The owner was extremely rude and defensive. She was not helpful at all with any area information. The website said there was a pontoon boat and canoe to rent, but when we called to rent the pontoon, we were told they didn't have a pontoon anymore, but not given any apologies or reason as to why there was no pontoon. So we asked if there were any other places to rent a boat, she did not offer to try to help us locate a boat or marina, except to say, "there's a marina down the road" when we asked for help. The marina did not have any boats available all week and they were the only marina on Nantahala Lake!We had to drive 1 1/2 hours to and from Lake Hiwassee to rent a boat for one afternoon after looking through the phonebook and calling several locations. No wireless service or internet, so you are on your own at this cabin! Most of the restaurants in the town of Andrews closed every night at 8:00! We left a day early because of no boats to rent and owners never asked why or if there were any problems, or if there was anything they could do to help.Did you find this review helpful?
