The Two Oyster Lagoon Beach Houses are situated on the beach in a quiet residential area, with mountain views of the mainland and sunrises from the front porches and sunsets and Oyster Lagoon from the back porches. There is dock access in Oyster Lagoon and it is just behind the houses. The beach gently slopes into Utila Bay, with coral reef the full length of the beach and an 80 foot drop off less than 100 yards from the house, providing a beautiful area to swim, snorkel, and shore dive. Each of these fully equipped houses are perfect for a family, two couples, or singles.

The house features an open living room, dinning area, and kitchen with open beam ceiling and great views. Both bedrooms are air-conditioned and open onto the back porch. The bedrooms contain king size beds or optionally two single beds with private bath rooms. Below the houses are concrete patios with BBQ grills, hammocks and a shared laundry room under one house (washer and dryer).

The Beach Houses are located on a peninsula in Blue Bayou. It is just a five minute bike ride or 15 minute walk from the west end of Utila town and the public beach area. You will be just far enough out of town to provide privacy and solitude, but just a mile away is our charming town with restaurants, bars, dive shops, stores, internet/phone services, grocery stores, and the friendliest local population you will find in the entire Caribbean!

The houses are cleaned weekly with linen changes. Angel cares for the property and is there 3 days per week. The other 3 days he is right next door. He is extremely friendly and will help you in any way he can. He will ensure you have butane for cooking, your drinking water delivered, and let you know where you can get anything else you want or are in need of.

We also have kayaks for 5. One double, and three singles.

Please contact Sue with any questions. I am the owner, live on the island year round, and am happy to assist you. Once you are on the island, Angel will meet you and help you get to the house. You can also contact us with the provided cell phone if you need something and we are not around.

Oyster Lagoon Beach House

Excellent property - we stayed for 8 weeks and had an excellent stay. We had a couple of very minor problems that were sorted out very quickly by the owner. Very quite location and private. The bedrooms are light and comfortable each with their own shower room which made it comfortable when we have family visiting us. There is a TV and video player with some films for viewing and a variety of books for reading. Snorkelling and swimming out the front is some of the best in Utila. We spent many hours in the water and saw a wide variety of fish, corals etc. We even saw a small nurse shark resting on the sand. An excellent washing machine on site so you don't have to take dirty laundry home. Angel who looks after the property is on site most of the time and is extremely helpful, polite and there when you need him and not around if you don't. Can't give this holiday home enough praise. We will be returning.

New Years Stay 2011

Guest: Eric (Philadlephia)
Date of Stay: 12/27/10 Review Submitted: 01/06/11

My 3 friends and I stayed at the Beach House from 12/27/10 - 1/3/11. The house was great. the AC in the bedrooms and hot showers were amazing. Angle, the property manager, was extremely helpful and our stay wouldn't have been as good without him. The only issues are that its about a 30 min walk from town so you will need to rent a golf cart. Also, the house could you an iPOD docking station.

charming place in excellent location

Date of Stay: 04/03/10 Review Submitted: 05/12/10

We made the Oyster Lagoon Beach House our temporary home during April 2010. We booked a few months in advance after having reviewed most of the properties available with aboututila.com. From the pictures and the description this house seemed to fit the purpose of our stay, which was a combination of work, school and - of course - diving and snorkeling. We were not disappointed! The house is spacious, charming, clean, cozy and perhaps sitting on one of the best locations on the island. It is located about one mile west off the bustling and sometimes noisy village - a nice escape from village life. The shoreline coral reef with all its marine life is just in front of the house. Therefore snorkeling is a must, if one really wants to appreciate this place. The bay is mostly protected from the sometimes strong east winds, so there was not a single day where we couldn't chill out floating above the reef. The down side of less wind is more bugs. So bring OFF for those humid days without a breeze – its sandfly time. It seems that just few people react strongly to those nasty bites. While I wasn’t bothered, my wife was, but only on windless days. The house itself has two nice porches overlooking either the lagoon or the Caribbean sea. Two hammocks below the house invited for an afternoon nap after a long day of diving. The house has all one needs, even for an extended stay, washer, dryer, coffee maker, and a mixer for nice smoothies or milk shakes. Ceiling fans help to cope with the heat and if that's not enough, AC in the bedrooms will make hot nights bearable. Angel took care of almost everything. He was always friendly and ready to help. Likewise, our landlord Sue was always attentive and friendly. So, all-in-all, we enjoyed every minute of our stay on Utila and in particular in this very special place. The bike ride from and to town took about 10 minutes at the most, but other ways of motorized traveling are also an option. Well, and if you want to come here for diving, go with BICD! We shopped around before we made a decision and didn't regret going with BICD. Very professional and friendly staff, excellent facility and biggest boats on the island (boats from other dive shops often looked crowded). We felt safe and in good hands throughout our 25 dives including an AOW dive course. And, we snorkeled with Whalesharks and Spinner Dolphins! Finally thanks again to Sue for her outstanding hospitality!

We thought the house was really well furnished and so clean it sweeked. The comlimentery case of beer and snacks were just what the doctor ordered. After a day of travel to just sit and relax was too cool. Thanks for a great place and a great time. we will definateley see you again. Tom
