This cozy lake house was built by one of the original German Scientist who came to work in the space program with Werner Von Braun in the 1950's. A group of them built houses in this quiet cove of Lake Guntersville because it reminded them of their mountainous native land. They were known to spend hours working in their beautifully landscaped yards and then gather in the late afternoon to swim or float on rafts and visit with friends and neighbors in the quiet lake setting.
The house has been recently updated to accommodate a family who enjoys being together and entertaining friends of all ages. It is perfect for a family gathering because it has nice open spaces for gathering inside and outdoors and plenty of comfortable beds. Great private boathouse (built in 2003) and party dock for swimming, fishing and star gazing. Nice flat manicured yard with jungle gym and rope swing for kids, perfect for backyard football.
Two small ponds for bait and catch habitat. (That will keep your kids busy). The boathouse is new and has two boatslips plus one jet ski slip. The porch is covered and has a lovely view of the yard and lake. It is nice and well protected even if it rains. The water is eight feet deep at the dock with a gradual slope to the shore making it perfect for swimming.
There is a large comfortable room for gathering around the fireplace in colder months. A separate room for piling up and watching TV or movies. There is also a playroom/bunkroom for the kids with a separate TV and game table.
Lake Guntersville is world famous for its bass fishing. We have pulled in 5 pound bass right off the dock. Honeycomb is about eight miles west of the town Guntersville, and 20 minutes from Huntsville city limits. A public access boat launch is conveniently located one mile from the house.
Bed configuration: Bedroom one, King-size bed. Bedroom two, King-size bed. Bedroom three, twin-size bunkbed plus one single. Bunkroom/playroom two twin-size bunkbeds= 4 beds. |
