Hale Akamai is a private little island house that is perfect for folding into the Kauai-an lifestyle, especially for stays of a month or more.
Hale Akamai is just a short walk to world-class Poipu Beach. The complete amenities, the big back yard, the peaceful lanai, and the friendly neighbors will all make you feel at home. You won't want to leave. We never want to.
Hale Akamai comfortably sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids. It is clean, in great condition, and has everything you need for a delightful stay. It is perfect for two couples to share or one couple to splurge on. We are listed as a two bedroom but we actually have a third smaller bedroom with bunk beds perfect for kids.
The big kitchen is fully equipped. Linens and towels are included. We have an evolving and revolving supply of masks, snorkels, boogie boards, fins, chairs and other beach toys. We are continually renovating and/or updating the furnishings, appliances, paint, and carpets to keep it in tip top shape.
We're ready to take the "Hale Challenge." Compare our single family home rental to other single family home rentals in Poipu. This little hale is truly Hawaiian style located just minutes from world-class Poipu Beach on Kipuka Street. We drive to Poipu Beach in less than a minute, we roll our bikes there and are in the waves in less than a minute, and it takes us less than 10 minutes to walk.
Connected to Poipu Beach, just to the east, is Brennecke Beach, a great place to learn to body board or body surf. We often watch Spinner dolphins playing off Brennecke Beach in the morning. The Waiohai Beach and surf break are connected to Poipu Beach just to the west. From The Waiohai, it's just a short walk along the coast to the super soft sands of the Sheraton.
For an adventure, pile in the car and drive to Ke'e Beach on the north side, hike the Na Pali Coast along the Kalalau trail, or maybe a round of golf and dinner in Hanalei. It is only a 15 minute drive to the overlook of Waimea Canyon (The Grand Canyon of the Pacific). For a Hawaiian style golf experience, check out 9 holes for 9 dollars at Kooks (Kukkuiolono). For a world-class golf experience, Poipu Bay is only a 3 minute drive from Hale Akamai.
Relax in the cool shade under the huge monkey pod tree when the beach is too hot. A grapefruit tree provides a fresh breakfast between March and May. The big sweet-tart grapefruits are remarkable. Play hard in the sun and waves and come back to the outdoor shower, BBQ fresh fish, and take it all in. Nice!

The house is just as described. It is clean and convenient. We've been back a few times. We really enjoy the yard and barbecue and the location.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, families with young children.
