Casa Tortuga villa is a five bedroom villa with a one bedroom guest house adjacent to the villa, for a total of six bedrooms. The pale pink villa is two stories, with five large arches and 60 foot long verandas on each floor. The upper level has two very large bedrooms with king canopy beds. The beach level has three additional canopy beds, and a large lanai around the pool.

The beach has a giant chess set from Neiman Marcus. The King and Queen in the chess set are three feet tall, which makes the game a lot of fun. Our pool is the largest private pool in Belize, with an eight foot high bronze horse fountain from Versailles. At one end of the pool is a booth for 'in pool' dining. We also have 250 feet of beach front, on the Caribbean Sea. Our beach is the longest of any villa in San Pedro.

The guest house has a king bed in the bedroom and a queen sofa bed in the living room. It also has a jacuzzi tub, and a roof garden, where you can see all over the island.

Our cook and her assistant prepare three delicious meals for our guests each day. We have a breakfast china, a luncheon china, and two different patterns for dinner, which she alternates. Our cook, Maria, also uses linen napkins at all meals, and crystal stemware at dinner. Her meal presentations are truly exceptional, as well as her floral centre pieces for the villa.

Guides will pick you up at our private dock for activities and excursions. On the evening of your arrival, our guide, Carlos, will come over to the villa after dinner, when everyone is together, and tell you about the activities available in the area.

Casa Tortuga Villa is a truly magical place. We hope to make your vacation here the most wonderful one ever.

Had an awesome time on our 8 girls getaway for March break. Casa Tortuga far exceeded our expectations. The villa was luxurious and had everything you needed for a fun social holiday. My top 10 memories of the trip: 1 Maria's amazing cooking 2 swimming with sharks, stingrays and turtles only 5 min boat ride away (thanks carlos) 3 golfing on our own private island for $75 us in Caya Chapel ..45 min boat ride away 4 lounging at the pool enjoying Maria's frozen fruity drinks 5 volleyball in the afternoon 6 golfcarting to the purple parrot and the Chicken Drop event for fun evening activities 7 watching the sunset from the pelican nest 8 beach style boot camp ( we had a crazy fitness instructor in our group) 9 enjoying fresh coconut from one of the many coconut palms 10 the hot sauce. Love Marie Sharpe! Thanks Peggy and I think we will be back some day!

Our group of 8 adults visited this beautiful property the first week of Dec. 2012. We have rented several higher-end properties from VRBO in the past but this was by far the best. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The chef Maria spoiled us rotten with fantastic cuisine. She was kind and accommodating and made sure we were well taken care of. Carlos from Suya tours met us at the villa and arranged all of our excursions. It was seamless and the tour guides from Suya were professional and friendly. The pool and grounds were well kept and we enjoyed relaxing in the many hammocks and lounging by the pool. The fisherman in our group fished off the on-property dock every day. And having left my dogs at home, it was nice having visits from our beach doggie, Sassy! It was nice being able to get around town with only a golf cart. No rental car needed on this compact and tourist friendly island. I would most definitely recommend this property and hope to visit again in the near future. Thank you to Peggy, Maria, Carlos and all for making this such a memorable trip for our group.

Our family, age 17 to 86, were guests at this amazing property for a week in August! We can't stop talking about how much fun we all had! Our meal time was amazing due to Maria and her excellent helpers! We have never eaten so good!! Every meal was incredible!! We also enjoyed several days of scuba and snorkeling with our new friends from Suya Tours, as well as excursions to the mainland for a day of Mayan Ruins, Zip-lining and Cave Tubing. Evenings had our boys mixing it up with the locals in friendly games of beach volleyball - right in our own back yard. It was the perfect setting for a week of memories we will never forget!

Our group of 11, including children 9, 12 and 13 stayed at the Casa Tortuga from April 11-21 and it was a perfect fit for us. Casa Tortuga is close enough to town that it isn't an inconvenience but far enough away that it is quiet and relaxing. The watertaxi, excursion boats and fishing guides all picked us up and dropped us off right at the dock. The kids lived in the pool and loved exploring and spotting all the sealife in the ocean. The grounds are set up perfectly so you can enjoy the sun or relax in the shade or in one of the large hammocks. Maria and her staff were friendly and accomodating and made us feel at home. A group of us flyfished quite a few days and Maria got up early to make us breakfast and then made breakfast again later for the rest of the group. We ate out a few meals but didn't find anything close to Maria's cooking. Every meal was exceptional. There was not one thing we didn't devour. Carlos was great to deal with and we enjoyed our day ziplining and cave tubing. We were short a fly fishing guide and he was able to find us an excellent one as well. The worst part of our stay at Casa Tortuga was leaving. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later.

10 of us gathered to celebrate a friends 40th for a week. We were greeted by Maria with Ceviche and pina coladas and toured the absolutely beautiful and well decorated home. Each of us had our own bedroom with private bath - mine was located just off the pool so I enjoyed the ocean breeze and sounds every night! The pool is perfect and our biggest decision each day was do we lay by the pool or do we walk 7 feet to the beautiful sand shores and enjoy a hammock or lounge chair by the ocean! Carlos, our guide, arrived the first night to give us a low down of adventure options. We selected a day of snorkel and an all day adventure of mayan ruins and cave tubing. The monring of our adventure Carlos pulled up in his boat right at our dock so we just walked down, jumped on and away we went! Maria and her team cooked us 3 meals a day - we never lifted a finger! she would accomidate various lunch/dinner times and made something delicious and homemade for every meal. Every morning started with fresh squeezed oj, fresh fruit, coffee and some spectacular main dish. There were 2 vegetarians in the group and for each meal Maria made sure there was something special for us! The room were cleaned every day and the grounds were kept spotless! We ventured into town a couple times but every time I just wanted to return to the sanctuary of the home to relax!!!! Def a trip of a lifetime and hope to return soon!!!!

We are a family of 6 who just returned from a week's vacation from Casa Tortuga! What do I say, the setting is beyond expecations, a view from every room, We all had to take pictures from bed looking out to the beautiful Carribean with palm trees swaying in the breeze! The home was more beautiful then we could have imagined. Each room is generous in size, and filled with lovely decoratoins, but not overdone. We swam, played on the beach, played volleyball, chess and games which were supplied until late at night, we ate amazing meals preparted by a wonderful chef in Maria, and her assistant. We tried a few lunches out, but found Maria's cooking to be much better then what you found in town. She was there for us when ever we needed her and was quick to give advice about what to do and what we would see in the area. My first night at home was very sad to realize Maria was not going to be coming around the corner! The side tours we took from Carlos were also amazing I would highly recommend the trip to Cockroach key where we got to snorkle while Carlos and his guides went spear fishing, then we had a great bbq in an gorgeous setting! We took additional tours with him snorkling with sting rays, nurse sharks and turtles! What an adventure! This home is truly special and I would highly recommend it to anyone! Thank you Peggy for sharing with us, we hope to come back sometime in the future!

I'll have to say the actual villa by far surpassed the description and pics - which is unusual in itself. From the moment our group arrived, we felt and indeed were pampered by Maria and her staff. Simply cannot say enough about Maria, her wonderful cooking, and her graciousness. She asked upon our arrival what kind of food we all preferred. We all shouted SEAFOOD. And seafood we got. Every meal was a delight! I even got up for breakfast - which for me was unusual. And the rum punch, margaritas, homemade civiche (melt in your mouth!) served around the pool - WOW! The rooms were very nicely decorated - but not too much "stuff" sitting around. Plenty of room for you to unpack and have plenty of room. We had the Seabreeze room. Beautiful ocean and pool view. And the pool...well, we spent quite a number of hours in it. I don't think I've ever had such a relaxing vacation. We came away with many, many good memories. I would highly recommend Casa Tortuga. Thank you so much, Peggy, for sharing your beautiful home.

Casa Tortuga is a wonderful house to rent in San Pedro, Belize. We traveled there in June to snorkel, scuba, fish, and relax. Maria and her assistants created three gourmet meals each day for us---delicious!! They did the shopping, cleaning up, and were there to give us lots of advice on questions we had. The house and pool are just as perfect as the pictures make them seem. The property sits right on the beachfront, giving our two families privacy and a super place to relax and enjoy the paradise of Belize. It is probably the nicest house that we have ever rented, with much attention given to details! I would highly recommend Casa Tortuga for your vacation getaway.

Oh, my gosh. Casa Tortuga. Where do I start? 6 couples traveled to Casa Tortuga last month for a weeks' stay. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a smiling Maria (the chef) and quickly a cold tropical drink was placed in our hands. We rented the whole villa and the Pelican's Nest (guest house). My wife and I drew the Palm Room. It was fantastic, as were the other beautifully furnished rooms. They each face the open water and a wonderful breeze blows in so that no A/C is needed in the daytime. Each room has A/C, so it is turned on before bedtime and the room is very cool. The pool and the hammocks are outstanding. The white sand beach is soft and beautiful. The food is probably the top attraction after the villa itself. Maria is an outstanding chef and the meals are to die for every time. Breakfasts were hugh and wholesome, always with fresh squeezed juice of some kind. Lunch was sometimes served inside and sometimes on the veranda. It could be a full meal and sometimes something light, depending on our desire. Dinner was always a treat, mostly seafood, with fresh vegetables, fruit, and always a surprise dessert. There was always fresh fruit at every meal. Besides the wonderful preperation and taste, the second best part of the meals was the cost. We ate about 4 meals in San Pedro and the rest were eaten at the villa. We did catch a lot of fish, which Maria prepared for us many different ways as long as it lasted. At the end of the week the food cost was less than $130 apiece, less than $20 a day. Maria also kept rum punch, pina coladas, and margaritas made up so that we would always have them if needed. Maria's girls (the ladies who helped her) were so friendly and pleasant and truly seemed to enjoy their work. We were pampered at every turn. The opportunites for fishing, diving, snorkeling, etc. were numerous. Carlos came and presented the list of things he could offer us. Several of the guests went, fishing, diving, snorkeling, sunset catamaran sailing and all were very pleased with the excursions and the folks who took us. San Pedro is a great little town. I don't think I have ever seen a friendlier buch of people as are the people of Ambergris Caye. The food in town was great. Never a bad meal. The Wahoo Lounge should be visited. Good folks. I would highly suggest a vacation on Ambergris Caye and a stay at Casa Tortuga. It was the vacation of a lifetime for us and we will definetly be returning.
