We had just the vacation that we desperately needed! I cannot describe how fantastic touring NYC is. Our vacation was enriched by staying at Marina's apt! Marina took us to a grocery store that was not close so we could get some food as we did not want to eat breakfast out. Marina stayed in the apt next to us. I have some medical problems and needed to order some supplies as I had a complication. Marina asked me to come to her apt and use her personal computer to order what I needed to ensure that all of my credit card information would stay safe. She was always there for any question that we had and checking to see if there was anything else that she could do to help us. Our vacation flew by. We plan on returning in a couple of years and staying at Marina's! She is such a sweet, caring wonderful person! Thank you, Marina.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I just want start off by saying that the owner was extremely welcoming and great! I would definitely recommend this place to any couple wishing to stay in the area. The area was very nice. The beach was in close distance, the stores around were very convenient and transportation to and from the city was easy. My finace and myself only stayed for 3 day but it was well worth it!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed here for 2 weeks with our 10 month old son. We wanted accommodation to suit our needs which was access to a kitchen and a separate living space from the bedroom so when our son went to bed early we wouldn't have to join him. Therefore 'Resort Living' was perfect for us. We had our own kitchen and living room with plenty of space for our son to play and a separate bedroom with an en-suite. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with plenty of towels and a cleaning service after our first week. The accommodation had a telephone, wireless internet, a PC in the living room and Cable TV with films on demand. The apartment owner Marina was fantastic, very welcoming and helpful. She went out of her way to help us to settle in which made our arrival and first days so much easier. The location was right across the road from the sandy beach where there is a very long boardwalk/promenade. There are plenty of local restaurants and takeaways nearby, as well as all the usual amenities within a short walk. We took the local bus and the ferry into Manhattan each day which did take time, about 1 hour from our door to Manhattan's South Ferry Terminal (including waiting time). Although you can get the Express 'commuter' buses which take 22 minutes into Manhattan we were unable to do this as we had a large 3 wheeled all terrain pushchair which was too big for the express bus and is more like a coach. In hindsight we would have been fine on the express buses with a small collapsable buggy. On the whole we enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time exploring Manhattan. We would never have been able to afford the same quality of accommodation in Manhattan and as a more affordable option this gave us the opportunity to stay for much longer. What we liked best was spacious and comfortable apartment. What we liked least was the commute into Manhattan on the local bus.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Firstly we need to echo the views of other reviewers and say that Marina was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Secondly, however in contrast to every other reviewer this is not somewhere we would recommend. We had the noise from the people above, a bed with inadequate covers and countless other minor grievances. We felt as though we were invading someone else's space in that there were so many personal possessions in drawers, cupboards and on display. It has not been professionally set up as a holiday let. We did not complain to Marina at the time because on the one occasion we did raise something she got so defensive it was not worth falling out over, since you have to live next door to her!Owner response: First of all at arrival this person accused me that my apartment does not match to the pictures posted with my listing, which made me really surprised. As a proof... he showed me a printout of a totally different listing...in Brooklyn!! What actually happened he booked a totally wrong apartment. I did defend myself by showing him his original inquiry and my real listing on this site. I also found the listing he printed out. Of course I had to defend myself and my reputation! In order not to look as a complete idiot in front of the lady he traveled with, he accused ME of his mistake. This couple arrived couple of days after hurricane Irene, when all coastal houses in the area, including mine, were mandatory evacuated. I had to accommodate 13 guests staying at my property at that time with my friends and relatives in the upper areas of New York, (I did not let any of them to go to public shelter!), and we all came back just 2 days before this couple arrived. I went out of my way to make their vacation happen. But New York was still recovering after the hurricane: it was delays with transportation, some streets were closed due to the fell trees, etc. Most NYC guests were tolerant and happy that city was coming back to normal fast. These guests were very irritated and turned their misery against me. Yes, they could hear the guests from the apartment above, but they were quiet with the lights off by 10 p.m. It's New York apartment, not the house in the woods. The covers (can be seen at the picture) are soft, nice and being washed after each guest. Of course they did not match to the ones in the listing Derek kept in mind when booking. Yes, I keep some coffee, tea, sugar, macaroni, cookies in the cupboard, and usually guests with late night arrivals appreciate it. As to personal processions, I keep all of them in one out of 3 closed wall units, 2 others are for the guests use. These guests were instructed about it, but still decided to go through my personal belongings. The only thing on display was my son's personal DVD collection which is offered for guests' use. Usually people appreciate it too. Derek complained about me living next door from them. I never ever invade my guests' privacy, and do not see them at all unless they want to see me. He did not complain about me living so close while using my office equipment or asking for the car ride to the local supermarket, etc. Some reviews say more about reviewer than about the property!

I was going to stay here for 9 nights.Ended up for 20. The owner Marina is fabulous- very helpful and lovely. The property itself is located across from the South Beach boardwalk and beach. You really get a feel for local life. I watched local softball games and took trips to Staten Island Mall, Brooklyn and Manhattan. I would suggest paying extra for the express bus metrocard if you like to travel from point A to B faster. It is extremely easy to get around. The apartment was clean and the amenities wonderful. I was alone and always felt safe. Marina is always close by with advice on local attractions as well.Overall a fantastic experience. I am looking forward to returning there soon. Thank you MarinaRecommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I had to extend a business trip to include some personal business as well. While looking for the best way to reduce my costs and not be too much out of my way, we came across this listing. It was a perfect size for the price, Marina was extremely helpful and polite. There are small shops right around the corner including a bank with a 24/7 cash station. The pleasant walk across the street to the boardwalk was the best thing ever! Transportation around Staten Island and into the city is very flexible! Overall the stay was great and I look forward to coming back in the summer! Thanks Marina!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful stay with Marina in Staten Island in this beautiful apartment. It was just my son and myself, so the place was the perfect size for us. The kitchen was perfectly equipped, clean and easy to keep clean (with a dishwasher). Bus to Manhattan is directly outside the door, so travel to and from the city was no issue at all. The apartment is as well set up as a home, so we felt very much as though we lived in New York, not that we were tourists. The apartment is clean, warm, cozy, and has everything you could ever need. Highly recommended!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We were staying in New York for 7days in November and wanted an apartment away from the hustle and bustle of Manhatten. Marina's apartment on Staten Island was perfect for the 2 of us - a very clean apartment with the bus stop right outside, the beach nearby and local shops. The commute to Manhatten took 30 minutes on the Xpress bus and a little longer using the ferry. Marina was really helpful and friendly. In all, very good value for money and worth a visit!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We stayed in this apartment in November. It was absolutely perfect for our needs. It is really easy to get into Manhattan using the bus and the ferry. We didn't use an Express Bus but the standard buses were fine and were included on our Metro Cards. The ferry is free, which is fantastic! Marina, the owner, was extremely friendly and very, very helpful. She answered all my questions about the apartment in advance very promptly, met us on arrival, told us everything we needed to know and more! There was a computer in the apartment and free internet which was extremely useful. We only wish we could have stayed longer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I spent one week in Oct. with my sister, brother and elderly parents in Staten Island. Unfortunately, my father took ill and spent 2 nights in hospital. Marina was very helpful in a difficult time for us and couldn't do enough for us. Thankfully our father made a speedy recovery and we had a very enjoyable holiday. I would recommend Marina's apartment in Staten Island to all my friends. The ferry has lovely views of The Statue of Liberty and I felt very safe coming home from Manhattan at night in a group. i am a former new yorker. my girlfriend has never been there. so i wanted to take her and show her manhattan for a couple of days. hotels are expensive and so are vacation rentals in manhattan. plus manhattan is noisy 24/7. she especially wanted to see the statue of liberty, central park and times square. i saw Marinas place on trip advisor, read the reviews and thought it would be ideal. and it was. we checked in and marina was right there, very pleasant and helpful. we had a car so she suggested driving to the staten island ferry and parking there for $7 (round trip bus was more than $8 for two people). so off we went...ferry statue of liberty subway times square all within two hours of checking in! back at midnight. same thing and more the next day. marinas place is great.modern clean and quiet. she was always available for anything we needed. we will definetely stay there again next time we come to new yorkDid you find this review helpful? we had only one week, but from the first day on the house and especially Marina, the landlady, made us at home. The house is and very clean and very well appointed so that we found all things we need. The location is great. After a long trip, we found it very relaxing to walk some minutes on the beach, looking to the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Brooklyn and the over the sea. Travelling to the heart of Manhattan takes indeed about 1 hour by bus (perfect: 3 minutes walk to the bus stop), staten island ferry and subway, but it was every day a nice experience, passing the statue of liberty and looking to the manhattan skyline, changing the view by different day and night times. And to keep in mind a real highlight: Marina was always very kindly and so helpful. She provided us with all information for the journey, with hints for transportation and sightseeing which saved us money and time. She equipped us with a discount card for a local supermarket, printed out our board cards, manged at late night our transportation back to the airport ... Thanks a lot, Marina, for being more than just a host ! If we would come back again to New York in the future, it is quite sure which accommodation we will choose.Did you find this review helpful? We have been to NYC before and stayed in Manhattan but it was so expensive we looked for an alternative. I always liked the idea of staying on Staten Island and catching the ferry in each day so we looked online and found this place. We stayed for 11 nights and right from the start Marina looked after us - waited in the cold to show the taxi where the driveway is when we arrived and taking us to Brookyln and ording a taxi to the airport on our last day. The ferry is still about 20 minutes from the appartment, so most days we just caught the express bus (which runs right outside if you get up before 9.30 and all day if you catch a 5 minute connecting bus to it). Coming home is a little more ticky on the bus. They go really late too but wating for a local transfer for that 5 minute ride can take over 30minutes, so we just walked. The streets are really safe. The apparment is big and warm and cosy. The only downside is that you can hear the people upstairs for a while in the evening and the morning. We already had ear plugs so if you are a sensitive sleeper, I would say you will need them. Overall, the appartment and service was so nice. Very clean and warm. It was also nice to stay out of the city for a different perspective. The travelling takes it's time as expected, but when you are on holiday it doesn't really matter.Owner response: Thanks for your honest review. It was a pleasure having you as my guests. At the time of your stay 3 bedroom apartment above yours was rented to a very nice but a little noisy family (8 people), which does not happen that often, usually it's 4-5 people. It's true that sound isolation is not that great, but that's how they build new homes in NY (the house is just 4 years old).

Recrational place where you can escape the bustling city of NY after a stressful day. Very clean apt with all facilities one can need and imagine. Marina is the perfect "host", she will always have an answer for your questions and will help where she can! Just across the street is a long beautiful beach with a nice bordwalk and a good seafood restaurant. Also in walking distance is everything for daily life like subways, Chinese or Mexican restaurant, pharmacy and tiny supermarkets! On the other side of the road is also the bus stop which takes you to Staten Island Ferry in about 25 minutes every 20 minutes. SIF takes about 25 minutes too to get you to Manhattan. It's a quite relaxing way to start your day with a small breakfast during a "boat trip".Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Marina is a great host and the apt she offers is perfect for people who want to see NY and get to know a bit the normal life in America. It's very clean and little shops for every day life are just a short walk away. Right on the other site of the street is the bus stop to get to the Staten Island ferry (it takes about 25 min) and the ferry corresponds with the bus. Therefore you normally don't have to wait long to get to Manhattan. The ferry itself is kinda relaxing after a stressful day in NYC and one can enjoy the skyline in the morning, the afternoon or at night. In the summer months it's perfect to have the beach just around the corner. It's supervised by life guards for safety in the water. We would always go back and stay at the apt. It was a very pleasant time and Marina was very helpful with everything. Thanks again Marina and all the best for you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My partner and I recently stayed in this apartment for one week. We would highly recommend it. The description was very accurate. The apartment was just as we had anticipated, if not better. It was clean, well looked after and equipped with everything you need for a short stay. The buses to the ferry leave from just across the road from the apartment and the service is very regular, 24 hours a day. It was actually quite a treat to take the Staten Island ferry every day and enjoy one of the best views of the island! If you are looking for Staten Island base for your stay then Marina's place here would be a good option. We found the apartment exactly as described in the listing and it really is very comfortable. Marina herself was most helpful at all stages and you are in very safe hands. With hindsight we spent most of our time in Manhattan and it is quite a bit of travel time if you are there more than a few days, if you are comfortable with that or if you want to spend more time on the island itself it would work out just fine.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

The property is clean and well-maintained. The owner Marina provided me a very good customer service and was very helpful. I recommende this property that is also located close to the beach and seawlak. Bus and ferry run 24 hours a day and bus stops are really close to the house. The bus takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get to the Ferry Terminal in SI, and then the Ferry ride to South Ferry Station in Manhattan is 25 minutes.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The buses and ferries are very regular and work in conjunction with each other, so at 3am in the morning you will not be waiting more than 5mins for a bus. The apartment is very clean with all ameneties. Fab shower, especially after those long hikes around Manhattan. My gilrfriend, my 60 years old dad and I spent 6 nights from August 27th till Sep 2nd, it was a great place to stay far enough from sometimes heavy city of newyork specially when you are travelling with older people, the trip in the ferry is simply relaxing after a busy nyc day. The owner is really kind, caring for any of your needs, and accomplishing with all the issues she placed on the apartment advertisement. Bus is very easy every 20 minutes, and it has a great beach right across the street, there is also a great restaurant and a bar right on the beach offering great food (not that cheap but very good quality seafood) there is also a Ben and Jerrys right there. It is a great choice, for budget travellersRecommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I just returned from 5 days in NYC and was fantastic. Enjoyed all the places. The apartment in Staten Island is a nice and enjoyable apt and very affordable. The bus is right outside and takes you to the ferry. The ferry goes to Manhattan and runs 24/7. There is one subway station at the ferry that will take you to times square. It is around a 45 trek from the apt to Manhattan. They do serve beer on the ferry though. The bus is made to pick you up and drop you off right around the time the ferry is leaving. The boardwalk across the street is nice and can have a drink with live music. I enjoyed my stay at this apt and the owner Marina is great and very helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this property. NICE.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment was extremely good and supplied all our needs. My 17 year old son loved the shower in particular. Marina could not have been more helpful offering us help at every turn. We were in New York for 8 days and I found the cost of Manhatten prohibitive so got the best of both worlds staying there for 2 nights and transferring to Staten Island for the rest. (6 nights in the apartment less expensive than the 2 nights in Manhatten)Certainly there is more travelling involved but my son wanted only so much sight-seeing so we split our time between down time for him, while I read having coffee on the boardwalk oppisite, and heading over to Manhatten for serious tourist time. I would highly recommend this apartment.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I loved this apartment. It reminded me of or trips to Europe. European style furniture, a little Polish market around the corner, and even the shower was in celsius. It was a great place to relax after 11 plus hours in Manhatten, either in the apartment or going across the street to sit on the boardwalk or beach. The hostess was very nice and made sure everything was to mine and my companions expectations.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

My husband and I enjoyed our stay 8 nights at this comfortable Staten Island apartment. The S. Island bus, which is across the street from the apartment, delivered us each day back and forth to the S. Island ferry terminal. The bus comes daily, about every 20 minutes or so. The ferry ride from S. Island to Manhatten took about 25 minutes each way and it goes 24/7. We each purchased metro tickets for $25.00 per week and this allowed us to ride all metro ferries, subways, & buses in Manhatten. Marina was very friendly & helpful. She has furnished the apartment with king bed, couch & chair, dishes, refrig with ice, microwave, coffemaker, computer, TV, CD, video, great shower, towels & space to unpack. She will also not let you get lost. If you are on a budget, this is a nice safe place for you. The excellent lodging price of this apartment allows you to spend extra money on sightseeing tours, which was what we were interested in.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This place was perfect for our first time visiting nyc. Marina drove us from her work, took us to the store, and also took us to buy our bus passes. She was very nice, and so was the house. Its small, clean, and has everything you need. Great shower, great movies, great everything. The bus stops were right across the road, and so is the boardwalk, and a ben and jerry's icecream stand. Very nice when the weather is hot. Also there is a beach right there that you can go swimming in. The bus takes you straight to the ferry and right to Manhattan. Also the staten island mall is just a couple of buses away. Marina is hands down, the nicest New Yorker we found. Thank You Marina, we had a blast.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our stay at Marina's apartment. It was in a nice neighborhood acroos from the Atlantic Ocean with in easy walking distance to the beach and ethnic grocery stores. Very easy 5-10 minute drive to the Staten Isalnd Ferry that we took everyday to go to NYC. Would definitely stay there again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Big thumbs up for this apartment. The location is wonderful and the landlady is just the best person you could ever wish to meet on vacation, thank you so much for all your help. New York is within easy reach via free ferry (try to avoid commuting times) and local shops just around the corner, Deli's are like small grocery shops, they are everywhere. Beach is over the road with a boardwalk, cafe and restaurant with amazing views.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What can I write here that will do Marina and her apartment justice? I guess I'd like to start by saying thank you. From the moment we arrived Marina bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and give us information about the area, the city & local travel options. The apartment it's self is located right on the beach, which in the summer would have been a bustling area. Fully equiped with ever appliance from corkscrews to an Internet enabled computer. Don't be fooled by how far this place is from downtown New York. The transport links work like clockwork 24 hours a day. I really put that to the test and it truely was faultless. The ferry is free and always links up to the bus which stops right outside the apartment. Great value for money, when I'm next in New York I will be staying here again. Thank you Marina for a wonderful stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

This apartment is amazing. Tidy, clean, all mod cons and the best shower in the world!!!! Marina is such a Lovely person, we stayed at the beginning of January and although the weather was very cold the host was not. She gave us so much information as well as unexpected things like a lift to brooklyn. Don;t be put off about being on staten island, the FREE ferry runs 24 hours a day and ALWAYS links up to the bus that takes you virtually to the front door. The neighbour hood is frendly and it's nice to get out of the hustle of NYC. Would we go back? In a heart beat. Thanks Marina, you really made our trip great. Stephen & Wasana.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the good words. Hope to see you again back in NY soon.

From the 1st Minute I felt very comfortable in this apartment and enjoyed my sadly to short stay. Furnished with great attention to detail I had all I need to feel at home. Full equipped kitchen, living-room with a big TV, a lot of free and on demand channels, movies on DVD and a PC with access to Internet. And all this without additional charges ! I slept well in the double-bed situated in a big bedroom and had relaxing showers in the bathroom. A view minutes walk to the bus-station, the beach, the shops or restaurants. I enjoyed my travels to and from Manhattan every day in the restaurant on the ferry with coffee a great view to the skyline of NYC and Liberty Island. The hospitality from Marina, the owner of the apartment, was to sense from the first eMail. She is very keen to arrange a smooth arrival, staying and departure. Many Thanks to Marina for this and especially the saving in Brooklyn ;-) ! I hope like all the other guests to come back soon for a enjoyable holiday !Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

The property is in a great location on the Manhattan side of Staten Island. It is really close to public transport and only 10 minutes by bus to the ferry terminal to Manhattan. The property is near new and has everything you want and need in a short term rental. The owner is really friendly and welcoming. In fact she bends over backwards to make sure you are comfortable and have everything at your fingertips. The accommodation is really first class for a couple wanting to get away from the hussle and bussle of Manhattan and stay in a relaxed and first class facility so close to the City.Did you find this review helpful? Vacation started on such a high when we arrived in NY. Marina was so helpful from the beginning. She even offered to take us to the local grocery store on the first night to buy our essentials. The location of the apartment is perfect...close to Manhattan yet with the benefit of peaceful and tranquil sceneries. Rooms were nicely decorated and spacious, and what about that bathroom?! Let's just say I fell in love with that shower!! Without a doubt, one of the best vacations we have had.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

You may have read all the reviews on this apartment, and they are all absolutely true. It is obvious from our week stay that a lot of love and attention has been put into decorating this apartment. In addition to this the owner, Marina, is a fantastic person, very hospitable, helpful and welcoming. She went out of her way to make sure our stay was confortable. I highly recommend this apartment as it was much better than a 5* hotel. It was also very easy to commute to Manhattan via the transport network. Thank you Marina, for making our New York holiday experience, a fantastic one.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/6

This apartment was perfect for my stay in NYC. It is right across the street from South Beach and within walking distance to most anything you need. I didn't use the Xpress bus and it did take a long time to get back and forth to Manhattan but the ferry ride was pleasant. Marina is a very nice, trustworthy lady. I can't wait to stay there again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/5
