Contemporary 3-story beach house on wonderful sandy beach with fantastic water views. At low tide you can take a two mile walk along the beach, barefoot! All wood floors (oak on first two floors, Brazilian mesquite on third), open layout on first floor ideal for entertaining, with Pella slider to 12' x 35' deck on ocean, with outdoor tables and seating for eating lobster while the sunset paints the sky. Outdoor shower on rear deck (8' x 35'.)
Two front (oceanside) bedrooms have king size beds, large closets; one has en suite bathroom w/ shower. Second full bath on same floor. Rear bedrooms have, respectively, two twin beds and a queen futon. Huge third floor great room/master suite has king size bed, additional bathroom,and possible additional sleeping space (w/ queen inflatable bed and sofa.) Sleeps 10 to 14 altogether. Total area over 2600 sq.ft. This is a well-maintained, modern family cottage that is rented during the August high season and in the fall and spring (at reduced rates).

season weekends ($1200 to $1500)
Rental periods are from Saturday-Saturday, Check-in 4 pm, Check-out 10 am.
Fifty percent of rental is due with reservation and is not refundable.
$500 Refundable Cleaning deposit required (if unit is left in suitable condition).

Why the Owner Chose Scituate
A cousin at Harvard Medical School found this beach in 1964 with his three boys, and he purchased the original cottage there. The family has enjoyed this getaway ever since. We also appreciate the fact that we are less than an hour from Cambridge/Boston.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Great beach walks; digging clams; great variety of seascape and beach;
Famous for its role in the War of 1812 when two sisters made lots of noise and kept the British away.
One of a series of semi-tidal ponds, ours is surrounded by ferns and growth and has a pair of swans. Mated for life they continue to use this pond as home. (There are more swans in a larger pond just to the north.)
For the most accurate locator, use 80 Egypt Avenue, the approximate address of our mail box. Our section of Seaside Road disappeared in the Portland 'Noreaster of 1898!
Walk along the water at low tide from our house to Minot Point, approx. 2.5 miles. It's restorative.
Owner's Map of Scituate
This beach house was a replacement for an early 20th C cottage that disappeared in the great Blizzard of 1978. In 1980 we moved back on the lot and built on piles. I am a retired environmental planner/urban development consultant; my wife teaches Russian at Tufts University. We have been in Cambridge since the early 1960's. We share this lovely getaway with relatives from California.

This was a great house for our family of 6, lots of space on 3 floors, with 2 decks, right on a sandy beach. WiFi and cable TV were excellent. Quiet location, very little traffic. Good beach walking and swimming right out front. House was fully equipped and well maintained.
