The Unique Benefits at this House

The trailhead of Pond Creek trail starts in our back yard. 2 miles down and 2 miles back. It is a fantastic workout. After a day of outdoor activity we enjoy using the hot tub. Even on the warmest days we have, the nights always seem cool enough to use.

The location of our home is very conveinent to accessing anything on the mountain. We can run up to Fred's for a paper or condiments and be back in less than 5 minutes...

Owner's Map of Beech Mountain

I fell in love with this mountain in 1986 while I attended Appalachian State University. I promised I would have a place here at that time. Stacey and I love coming here and enjoying the endless outdoor activities. We call Clemmons NC our home but try to escape up here as often as we can.

We treat our tenants as our friends and will make your trip as memorable as we possibly can. We try to be "on call" or reachable for questions before, during and after your stay. We love seeing the same faces come back year to year.

Wonderful Thanksgiving weekend

Guest: Danny (High Point , North Carolina)
Date of Stay: 11/26/10 Review Submitted: 12/20/10

My family of 5 had a wonderful and very comfortable stay during Thanksgiving weekend. We were able sled on the hill near Freds and hike the trail right outside of the cabin down to the lake. The house is located very close to everthing you want to do on Beech Mountain. The only improvement we would suggest would be to make the hot tub hotter. The house warmed off nicely with the heat and the gas fireplace running together. We will definately be staying here in the future. I would highly recommend this home for family vacations.

Hidden Gem

We have been coming to Beech for 12 years every summer. It is hard to find such a nice comfortable home for such a rate. Most are out dated and have not been re furnished or updated since the eighties. We were first sad when our regular cottage was sold to new owners and we needed to find a new place to stay. Now we are so greatfull. My wife and I are retired and we found staying on the main level perfect. The lodge is quite open and airy. Our children came to visit during our long weekend and we found the large kitchen table and eat-in bar perfect for the eight of us. Kitchen had more than everything we could need and even tried out the George Foreman grill indoors during afternoon storm. The family room is huge with wonderful large chairs. Our favorite thing was rocking in the two large chairs on back porch every morning. Some times the deer would come right up to the back deck. We did not use hot tub but grandchildren raved about it... Allan was a pleasure to deal with and got the Lodge ready for us in a day. Even though he lives 2 hours away he was able to get the Lodge cleaned and ready for our stay. We will be staying here for as long as we keep coming up from Naples. George and Phyllis-

We headed up with a few friends to kyak and canoe. To our surprise we found a great "home" and not the usual run down 80's rent house we are use to at Beech Mountain. What a great value thi home is. The weather was awsome and the hot tub was a great relaxing way to wind down after kyaking all morning. The rivers were down from lack of rain but the Lodge made it a lot more easier to come back to. Great comfortable beds and awesome decks. To our surprise it got down to the high fifty's one night and we enjoyed the chimenea. Next time we are in NC for any stay in the high country we definitely will be back here!!

Sweet Summertime Rental.

Guest: BLAZE (Richmond, VA)
Date of Stay: 07/01/10 Review Submitted: 07/22/10

We six adults thoroughly enjoyed are 10-day (early July) vacation stay in the "Tamarack Lodge." We found the house very clean, comfortable and well provisioned... just like home. And the hot tub was most-welcoming in the cool evenings after long hikes and biking day-trips. We recommend this Beech Mountain house highly!

Owner response:We are doing some updates on the Lodge this summer. Exterior painting and staining the decks. Purchase of a few items for kitchen such as cooking pots and pans etc... New cutlery, and items to just have EVERYTHING anyone could want. We purchased at least 10 new throws this past winter and they are ever-so comfortable to wrap up with on bone chilling nights. The Summer has been the warmest on record so far and we purchased two new fans for the heat. We are not used to 81 degree temps up here but when it's 101 in Charlotte/Winston it makes it easier to deal with. Flooring for kitchen and family room is on the "to do" list as soon as the economy gets better. Patching ceiling near fireplace is also taking place soon. It's hard to find a cherry picker 27 feet high that can fit into the house. Scafolding may be needed.... I know all that comes enjoys and I hope more people leave feedback. Allan Coats

What a great home. We loved the huge fireplace and the HUGE loveseat that looks out the back windows. We had 6 adults and had plent of room. The hot tub was great for our aching muscles after hiking the Pond Creek trail 3 TIMES!! We will definately use your home again. The personal service you gave us was great. Thanks again and we'll see you in March 2008. The Fanchells- WS NC
