Villa Kulala is a recently completed luxurious four bedroom property on the East coast of Antigua. Sleeping eight people comfortably, the house is in a unique setting at the entrance to Dian Bay and is exposed to constant cooling trade-winds.
The property is very private, sitting at the end of a promontory known as Dumm’s Point in three and one half acres of wild and natural parkland. Long Bay, one of the best of Antigua’s 365 beaches, is only a short walk away.
Villa Kulala has been designed in contemporary Caribbean style with Balinese detailing to the highest possible standard by one of the Caribbean’s leading architects. The villa comes staffed with a house manager, maid, and gardener. A cook can be provided if necessary.
The house sits above a 40 foot cliff and has spectacular views South across Dian Bay. The view encompasses a national park with Devil’s Bridge as well as a small beach which can be accessed either by boat or four-wheel drive vehicle. There is private access to the sea from the property.
Villa Kulala has been designed as a series of interconnected buildings linked by paths and gardens planted with a wide variety of tropical plants. Throughout there is a Balinese theme, whether picked up by the columns specially hand-carved in Bali, the colour scheme, or the Indonesian furniture.
The living and dining areas have been designed to be as open as possible and to take advantage of the breeze. The sitting room leads onto a large pergola-covered terrace with a view across the bay on one side and an inner courtyard with a Balinese style garden on the other.
Villa Kulala’s swimming pool has an infinity edge which melts into the bay beyond.
There are four bedrooms: bedrooms one and two have king-size four poster beds from Bali, bedroom three has twin beds and bedroom four a king-size double bed. Each bedroom is cooled by ceiling fans (the sea breeze means no need for air conditioning) and has an en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom has a rain shower and bathtub. All the other bedrooms have walk-through changing rooms with hanging space and a shower. Each bathroom has a different set of hand carved stone washbasins.
The kitchen is very well equipped and includes a Viking gas range cooker, dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer and Chalon worktable and storage cupboard. |
