My husband and I are owners of a small retail floorcovering business in the Foothills of North Carolina. We have owned this business for 20 years, or should I say it has owned us? We work six days a week at our store. We occasionally "get away" to come to the beach, mostly for short weekends, but once or twice a year for longer periods of time. We enjoy the beautiful view of the inlet from our front porch and our master suite balcony. The grandchildren love to "sack out" in the bunkroom, a special room set up just for kids with 2 sets of bunkbeds and a sofa bed. They have their own TV and DVD player. For the older kids and adults, we have just last year added a gameroom, complete with 42" flat panel LCD HDTV, pool table, and arcade style Golden Tee video game for the golfers in the family.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
The Cherry Grove area has always been known as "The Family Beach," because it has always been mostly homes, not hotels. Our location is on the North Point, so traffic is at a minimum and we are right across the street from the inlet, but only 2 blocks from the ocean. A beautiful wide sandy beach is in plain view right in front of our house! This is a great area for fishing and crabbing too! And, of course, Myrtle Beach is the "Golf Capital" of America.
We have had a house here since 1978, but this house was custom-designed and built in 2002. Our families have been coming to this area since we were children for vacations each summer. A public pier is a few blocks away for those who enjoy flounder fishing.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The large private swimming pool in the backyard is a favorite place for the kids to play and the grown-ups to cool off. There are many great seafood restaurants, as well as other types of restaurants within a 5 minute drive. A deep sea fishing marina also is 5 minutes away.
