THE MAIN HOUSE:
Located just outside of Tahoe City, and one block from Lake Tahoe, this Old Tahoe cabin has everything you need to escape city life without roughing it. The Main House features the kitchen, living/dining area, laundry, one large bedroom and two baths. It is furnished in Old Hickory and vintage Mission furnishings that includes a sitting area with an antique-style gas fireplace. Additionally, two separate guest cabins (described below) each feature an additional bedroom and bathroom. A great location for the in-laws (don’t tell them we said this) or another couple of kids! (TOTAL OF THREE BEDROOMS for a total accomodation of SEVEN GUESTS).
Built of local stone and native lodgepole pine, this 1930s home features WIRELESS INTERNET, a hot tub, period fixtures, comfortable furnishings, a stone fireplace, log construction, and plenty of charm. The compact kitchen is modern and features a Bosch dishwasher and dual-fuel convection oven/range.
The home sits on a third of an acre and the property connects to the dedicated bike and pedestrian pathway passing through Lake Tahoe, Sunnyside, Homewood, Tahoe City and Truckee. (bring your bikes along)
Off the Main House is a stone patio featuring plantation-grown Teak furniture and a patio heater. This is a great place to BBQ, have dinner, enjoy drinks or just relax under the market umbrella on a sunny afternoon. A few steps away, the hot tub sits under a covered patio. There is a third deck with Teak furniture arranged for outdoor living. (deck furnishings for spring, summer & fall)
There are a variety of things to do within walking, biking or skiing distance of our home!
THE GUEST HOUSE:
This is a nice comfortable space for two additional guests. This cabin has one bedroom with a queen bed. It has a full bathroom and closet. It is perfect for a second couple or a grandfather that snores. It is finished in knotty pine and it has an Old Hickory table and chairs for writing or reading, a television with DVD & cable, and a telephone.
THE BOAT HOUSE:
The Boat House is an additional small one bedroom, one bath guest quarters adjacent to the hot tub. It has a set of bunk beds for older kids or whomever wants their own space. The Boat House is located just a few feet from the main house.
A note on the history and architecture of our home:
Years ago locals referred to our home as Casa Chica, or in Spanish vernacular, "little home" Casa Chica has many of the modern amenities you have come to expect without compromising the classic charm of an Old Tahoe style cabin. The Main House retains most of the original divided-light casement windows and Dutch doors. The log construction, knotty pine walls and vintage Mission and Old Hickory furnishings will remind you of a by-gone era. There are several original Old Tahoe cabins on our street, and the setting is peaceful with beautiful towering trees.

I stayed here last February with my sister and a few of our friends. The main house and the smaller cabins are adorable and it was really fun to be able to spread out and claim our own cabins. The covered hot tub and covered walkways to the hot tub were also really nice to have during that very snowy snowy week.

My two daughters and I had a most wonderful time. This house was very cozy and meet all of our needs. It was located to everything we wanted to do. We could ride our bikes everywhere from the house. The owner was also very helpful and pleasant to deal with. it was a terrific time...

From a previous visit we already knew Casa Chica was the perfect set of cabins for our family and were pleasantly surprised to find even more amenities when we arrived, Iphone/pod charger, music dock, wireless internet among them. The perfect location is just minutes from Tahoe City or Meeks Bay, and it was an easy hike up Eagle Rock to what feels like the top of the world and stunning views. We are looking forward to our third stay at Casa Chica!

After staying at Casa Chica in the summer of 2009 with a party of 7, we just booked to return August 2011. We loved BBQing after a fun day on the lake and eating on the patio. Four bathrooms was a huge bonus! It was nice for everyone to retire to their own private accomodations after board games in the comfy living room. Cool summer nights were perfect for a few logs in the fireplace. It was a perfect combination of warm summer days with cozy nights. The bike trail was close, the neighbors were friendly, hiking was gorgeous, and on and on! We've stayed in a number of nice Tahoe homes, but this is our number one choice!

I've visited Casa Chica several times and love it. The layout is great. It's in a neighborhood that lends itself to longs walks. The house is close access to the lake, bike trails and a variety of restaurants and activities. Eagle Rock and Homewood are just up the street. So, activities are close by year round. Make sure you make it to The Fire Sign Cafe and Sunnyside Restaurants. I'd recommend staying here to anyone. I know I'll be back!

We so enjoyed our stay at Casa Chica. It was perfect for 2 families to share with plenty of private space for all. The hot tub was wonderful and so was the patio for dining outside. The decor is really nice with many nice features and great proximity to the bike trail and restaurants and lake. We look forward to our next visit!

Casa Chica is our favorite get away destination! It is has all the the comforts of home in Lake Tahoe! My kids love to have their "own" cabin in the boat house. This place is by far the best we have ever stayed at in the Tahoe area! We can't wait to return!

Casa Chica was an amazing place to spend Christmas. Location was perfect for us – just south of Sunnyside. The cabin (actually 3 cabins) greeted us covered in snow; it reminded me of a fairy tale scene. The cabins were super cozy, warm and welcoming. We loved the wooden interiors and high ceilings, and we appreciated the luxury of modern appliances and 4 full bathrooms. We enjoyed winter activities in the near mountain resorts during the day as much as we enjoyed playing games by the fire in the evening. We were hoping to get snowed in, so we would have to stay until March. Unfortunately, the plow service was annoyingly on the top of their game and cleared the roads and even our drive-way a couple times a day. In the past we rented other two great cabins but this one was our favorite by far! We are planning on coming back sometimes soon. Helena

My husband and I stayed at Casa Chica with our two boys and my mom in Aug. 2007. The stay and house could not have been better. It is cozy old Tahoe at it's best, though in the summer, with the doors open, it feels like a large 3 bed, 4 bath house. We cooked at "home," and ate all our meals ourdoors. It was such nice place to stay. It was easy to go from the house to the beech, or hiking, or into Tahoe City- perfectly located. It is nicely decorated and equipped. We really fell in love with the place and hope to return. Kelly Houston, TX

I stayed here in spring'07. It is all that is described in the ad - very charming, historic, and in a great location. You are really on vacation... you're not near a strip-mall that looks just like the one in your hometown. You're in a relaxing historic old tahoe neighborhood, yet still close to town and activities. I walked to the public beach in just about 5 minutes and could have walked to town for morning coffee, but I was lazy and enjoying the patio. Bring your bike and you can ride the mt trails that start in the neighborhood, or ride the main road to a good local pub near Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City-- order the teriyaki sandwich and a beer.
