We rented Summer Breeze for spring break with another family so there were eight of us and a dog. This was our first trip to BHI. The family that we rented the house with has been to the island several times and raved about it. We now see why. BHI is one of the most special places we have ever been to in our lives. The kids, with ages ranging from 13-11, had total freedom and could ride their bikes anywhere on the island without the fear of getting hit by a car. They rode their bikes to get ice cream every night. Summer Breeze is a well equipped, clean house close to the stores and the beach. We will be back. We will never go back to the Outer Banks!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and giving us the opportunity to enjoy such an incredible place. The peace and relaxation that fill this island are amazing. Our family so enjoyed every moment of every day - from nature to fun in the sun - one vacation had it all! Seeing the turtle come on the beach to lay eggs was a huge highlight! The waves were great on all sides of the island, and we enjoyed kayaking, surfing, boogie boarding, and just hanging out on the beach. The Shoals Club was great too! Great week on Bald Head Island!!

We couldn't have asked for a better week or a more beautiful place to stay on our first vacation to Bald Head Island. There was never a time when there wasn't something new for us to do or explore and we didn't accomplish everything in one week! If you are looking for a place to stay that gives you all of the comforts of home, Summer Breeze is your place. We had five teenagers and four adults and there was never a time when we were crowded or on top of one another. In fact, the kids even commented on how nice it was to have their own space (the loft!). From watching the sea turtle come and prepare a nest for her eggs to just relaxing on the beach by day or under the beautiful star-lit sky at night, we made so many great memories with our children and nephews that they are asking when we can return. Couldn't Ask For A Better Vacation Spot!

We have been to Bald Head a number of times with a close friend who owns a house on the island. This same friend was married on the island last Saturday, and we rented this lovely villa for the long weekend. This house has it all: large screened in porch, dual shower heads in the renovated master bath, and an HDTV with surround sound and an ipod jack. WIth the feel of a Spanish villa, this house breaks the mold of your traditional Bald Head beach house, but in a very good way. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in their home, and you shouldn't hesitate to make it yours for a week.

The house of arches

Short but great trip! Loved the house of arches, as we call it. Reminded us of a house we once owned with this style. A truly unque home for Bald Head and a fantastic place to get away! We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. It was our first time on BHI, and we loved it! There were not very many people on the island, so at times it felt like we had the island and the whole beach to ourselves. The peace and quiet were just what we needed to escape the "real world." Summer Breeze is perfect and beautiful. We even had fun playing hide and seek on the spacious lot and adjacent woods one night with the kids. Thanks for a wonderful vacation. We hope to be back! What a wonderful spot! The home is nicely located on the island, very convenient to everything. Best of all, the house is very well-appointed, everything we needed or wanted was there! Since we were traveling from Dallas, we could not bring a lot with us so that was great. The owners were very helpful and responsive. We had a great 4th of July visit!

Our daughter, Anya, wrote, "I love Summer Breeze!" after our first day here (one the note pad in the kitchen). I have my parents, grandma, husband, and children here (My brother and his girlfriend visited), and there was plenty room. We have had sweet times together at the beach, eating ice-cream, doing puzzles, and cruising the island in golf carts, very memorable for 6 year old Luke, 4 year old Karis, and Anya too! This home is beautiful; it reminded us of places in the BVI. Yes, the pictures do accurately portray the home. It is airy and calming. Highlights of our trip included using the two adult bikes in the garage to tour the island, walking Sadie, our elderly golden retriever, under the most amazing night sky I have ever seen, and reading a gripping book (The Soloist) in the screened porch hammock. One of the most important aspects of our stay was that the beds were comfortable and the high thread count sheets made them even more so. Some of the homes in the forest on Bald Head seem dark and enclosed. This home is open and inviting. Would I recommend it to others? I already have. When we took the tram back to the ferry to return home, I answered a lot of questions from a young family who visit the island often. They had admired the home for a long time and were excited to find they can rent it in the future. It is a great house for families with teenagers old enough to legally drive. The Bald Head police are trying to crack down on underage driving. We had two young licensed drivers with us and they enjoyed touring the island, climbing the light house and hitting the beach or the Shoals Club at their convenience. It would also be a great rental for a family with young children who would move as one unit on the golf cart. Likewise, it's perfect for a "womancation" if you want peace, the grocery store nearby and lots of time for reading or resting. Sadie, the nine year old dog reports having to deal with few steps and enjoying the low windows in the dining room where she could watch for squirrels while resting on her bed. All in all, a most satisfactory break from the real world. It was our 7th trip to Bald Head and our first stay in the forest. We did not regret our decision. Enjoy!

We were looking for a place to host our family Christmas this year. Since we live in Florida and our three sons live in Raleigh it seemed easier to get everyone together in North Carolina. We found Summer Breeze on BHI thru VRBO. I had no expectations prior to my arrival other than a nice place to relax and enjoy family. We were all amazed at the beatutiful comfort that Summer Breeze provided. The house was everything and so much more than the internet indicated. All the comforts of home were provided with a gentle southern charm. The house is centrally located on the island and within walking distance of shopping. We could not have asked for more. We had a lovely time - our summer vacations at Bald Head Island are a family tradition at this point- Summer Breeze was spacious and accommodating. We enjoyed the Shoals Club membership very much. In the early years, we drove past this house daily when we were renting another home and wondered what it was like inside. When we rented Summer Breeze, we were very pleasantly surprised at how beautifully appointed the house is, and we were very glad that we rented "that house with the arched doorway." We feel very fortunate to have been able to squeeze this vacation into our busy Summer. Thank you for allowing us to do so at such short notice. Summer Breeze is aptly named - suggestions of carefree, rejuvenating, nostalgic, and precious moments fo time spent simply with loved ones. Your home is lovely, comfortable, and very well appointed. We all love the decor, the tile floors (including our lab) and the island feel of this great home. A minor glitch was handled quickly by the owners. They were very responsive. The maritim forrest is cool and shady and offers great privacy. We loved our time at Summer Breeze, and we hope to return soon. The Searles & Tuckes.

We had the opportunity to stay at Summer Breeze in June, 2008. The home was very peaceful and well equipped. It was centrally located between the marina area and East Beach (where the Shoals Club is located). Stayed 12/28/2007 - 1/1/2008 Happy New Year! We had a great long weekend, riding bikes, cooking (great kitchen!), eating the 5 course New Years Eve meal at the Shoals Club, resting, watching football, and watching the Planet of the Apes Movie Marathon!! This is our 4th visit to the island, and we will be back!! We will try to plan our next visit over a full moon weekend so I may continue my photographic study of "The trees of BHI." (Entered from Guest Book) A beautiful sunny week, which could not have been any better on our favorite island! Our dog Rosie had a blast too! Thanks for letting us bring her. Enjoyed wading in the warm tidal pools at Frying Pan Shoals. Found a sand dollar! Saw alot of turtles, deer, racoons, egrets, and cardinals. Saw an aligator by the BHI Villas. Had a delicious lunch at the River Pilot Cafe. Had the Creme Brulee' cheesecake, which was very good! Had alot of fun grilling hotdogs & pork tenderloin on the grill then enjoying them in the large screened porch. I love the Spanish style and theme of Summer Breeze. Can't wait to return to BHI and Summer Breeze!
