The warmth and wonder of this home embraced us start to finish. When the tide is out the walking is great - all the way to the lighthouse. When the tide is in, guests can fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape - the water, the mountain, the view of land across the sound, and evening lights at dusk and nightfall from Tacoma to Des Moines. Sleeping space allows for privacy yet the living room is intimate and conducive to conversation, working on puzzles and a feeling of closeness with loved ones. We were greeted with a lovely welcome basket of treats and left with a settled sense of peace, having been restored and renewed by the gracious ambiance provided by the owners through color, design, lovely furnishings and comforting sense of home. Nancy, the owner, communicated well with us and was even available for questions after we arrived. She/they obviously care that their guests have the best experience possible.

We just returned from our second visit to this wonderful house, and I've already contacted the owners about reserving our spot for next year! We have rented dozens of vacation homes over the years, and this stands out as one of the best ever. The location is incredible, you feel as though you're the only people anywhere around, the sense of privacy is amazing. And yet you're just a few minutes from a delightful little town (Vashon has some great restaurants, cute shops, and a super grocery store!) and just a few more minutes either way gets you up to the ferry to Seattle or down to the ferry to Tacoma. The beach in front of the house is a joy, when the tide is out you can walk for miles, and when it comes in, the water splashes dramatically. You can literally just sit in the hot tub or on the patio and watch the water change, watch Mt. Rainier come in and out of clouds, watch shore birds dip and dive. The house itself is perfect, the beds are wonderful and it's equipped with everything one could need. The kitchen is first-rate, and the thoughtful owners even leave a welcome basket with local treats, and the supplies to make s'mores on the beach! My entire family was sad to leave the house, we'd just move in and stay if we didn't have "real life" calling us back home. You simply cannot beat this as a vacation destination, it's got everything. Location, view, peace and utter relaxation, but just a few minutes from a truly world-class city. A+++!

Pros: Fantastic retro-style (but VERY cool) home, on an absolutely FANTASTIC beach. We had views of Seattle day & night, not to mention the amazing views of Mt. Rainier. I couldn't imagine a more perfect setting. All amenities were great and in exc. condition. The kids couldn't get enough of the beach or mussels. Great value, great trip. Con: If there was a con (I don't consider it one) it would be the rocky beach. Some might like sand, but with the water at a constant cool (if not down right cold) temp., sand would only be a benefit if you were going swimming. And if you really want to, there's sand at the lighthouse not far away. For the location and seclusion, this wasn't a con for our families.
Owner response:The beach is rocky and sandy. When the tide is out, it's very sandy all the way out to the buoy. This is home for the sand loving gooey duck clams but the beach is rockier closer to shore . This is a great place for beach fires and s'mores.

Every mid-winter break, my husband and I and our 4 kids (ages 13-5) try to take a quick getaway to Vashon from our home in Bellevue. We have rented some great waterfront property, but this one tops them all! We were majorly "wowed" with the beautiful and very comfortable house, the "crow's nest", the amazing views of Mt. Rainier from everywhere on the property, the hot tub, the private beach which we strolled to the Pt. Robinson lighthouse, while seeing bald eagles, starfish, deer, horses, seals. We lucked out with perfect, sunny, warm weather in February, but that house in any weather would have been a treat. It's a fantastic getaway and we'll definitely be back!

We were VERY impressed with the property and house.. Even though the pictures looked great on VRBO, we were surprised that it was even better than we expected! Spending Thanksgiving at the house was amazing and we felt so relaxed and enjoyed the opportunity to all be together in such a lovely setting. The eagles were our guests most of the days and we felt like we were so close to nature, with the water and beach at our doorstep. Our children loved everything about our stay. When they weren't playing on the beach, they loved the puzzles and games you provided. We will definetly return! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful spot with us!

We had a wonderful time at this gorgeous spot. An old group of friends were able to reunite, relax, enjoy the stunning views of Mt. Rainier did a little scuba diving right in front of the house, kayaking, made shmores on the beach, took dips in the hot tub and gazed at the fabulous stars. It was wonderful to have such a wonderful home to retreat to (just steps away) in between and after all of our fun activities at such a uniquely secluded and beautiful spot. Thanks for the hospitality and helping to make for a memorable weekend we won't forget for a long time.

Our family stayed at this beautiful beach waterfront home and absolutely fell in love with it. It has something to offer for every age. My children (ages 11, 7 & 5) thought it was the best place they have ever been. They made forts out of drift wood, found many shells, discovered many sea animals like starfish, and roasted marshmallows over the beach fire. They LOVED the lighthouse. We didn't need to worry about them at all. It's a very private beach that is very flat and sandy when the tide is out. We even saw an eagle and enjoyed rowing in the boat the owners let us use. We have rented vacation homes for the past 10+ years and this is the best place we have ever stayed. I would highly recommend it for families and/or couples. It is a very unique place to stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful, perfectly located property. We spent hours sitting inside, outside, and in the hot tub, looking across the water, at the boats/ships ranging from canoes to huge cargo ships, at the hummingbirds, and at Mt. Rainer. The house and amenities exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it for family groups. Our ferry ornament graced our Christmas tree this year, a touching reminder of a perfect week with our daughter and grandchildren.

My husband, son, and grandson rented this home to celebrate our Anniversary and our grandson's sixth birthday. For us, it was a very unique experience, one that we will not forget. The home's setting is secluded, steps from the water and has incredible views of the water and mainland. There are no other homes on the waterfront, so we had unlimited privacy. Occasionally someone would pass by on the beach, but that happened rarely while we were there. The home itself has a nautical theme throughout including a "crows nest" that our grandson loved. There are views from every room and the master suite is spacious with a unique nautical vanity. The grounds are beautiful and the rear patio large and accommodating. The owners take great pride in this home and they were great to work with both during the rental process and while we were staying in their home. My son and grandson took a nautical tour in the row boat provided and had great fun encountering seals and other wildlife. Each evening we built a fire in one of the fire pits and relaxed in our private little paradise. It was a great way to build memories around our special occasions. I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a truly special vacation away from the hustle and bustle of life.

The cruise ship on land lived up to its advance billing. We had a remarkably sunny weekend and enjoyed the long walks on the very private beach, the numerous visits from eagles and seals & just relaxing on the patio and watching Mount Rainier in all its splendor. Thanks for allowing this group of old friends to reconnect in such a spectacular setting.

Just back from a spectacular Women's Weekend at this amazing home. The house itself is fantastic--fun, comfortable, beautifully and thoughtfully appointed--and the setting is, of course, stunning. The nine of us (we got permission!) had plenty of room to roam, and those four bathrooms were much appreciated. We'd all come back in a heartbeat.

My team needed to get out of the office to focus on our 1-3 year initiatives. Your home was the perfect setting to clear our minds of the day to day distractions and dive deep into our pool of priorities. We kicked off the meeting by diving into the Puget Sound... a better idea on paper than in real life. Not only did we achieve our professional objectives, we also spent a lot of time catching up with each other and remembering all the fun we've had over the years, growing the company and growing up together. Thank you for opening up your amazing home. I highly recommend this home as a perfect business retreat, vacation spot (also great for kids), or a romantic getaway.

Our Women's Circle had our annual Retreat at this beautiful house this winter, and it was wonderful. The no-bank beach is perfect for walking, the setting is very private, the view is stunning, the facilities are well-appointed and comfortable, and the orcas, seals, eagles, and herons made excellent company. We recommend it!

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us, this gorgeous secluded home on Vashon Island is the perfect get away. My sister and I were looking for a place to decompress from all the stresses of life and your home proved to be exactly what we were looking for. The setting is extremely relaxing with the view of the water and Mt Rainier in the near distance along with the private beach. We enjoyed many hours just sitting and taking it all in. The accommodations were of high quality and comfortable. My sister loves to cook and was impressed with the kitchen tools. I give high marks to the design of the master suite, a truly zen experience. Vashon had much to offer, great restaurants, extensive hiking trials and fun shops to explore. We are looking forward to a return visit with other family members and friends.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. Everything about the place is great, from the magnificent master bedroom suite to the meticulously manicured yard. The stunning view just took our breath away! We had a delightful time taking daily walks along the sandy beach, amazed by the vibrant colored sea stars we found. Our family also had fun building "house" from drift woods. Never a boring moment!! Thank you again for a memorable stay!
