Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

In 1979, we began to build our home, here in Willow, and know well the beauty of this mountainous area, which is home to many rivers, lakes and much wildlife. After purchasing this property, just 6 miles from where we live, we knew it would be the perfect place for a wonderful vacation get away because of the unique & wild beauty of the riverfront. We began to build WILLOW CREEK INN in 2006 and opened for business the following year. We've really enjoyed meeting our guests from all over the United States and know that everywhere you travel, each place has it's own beauty unique to that area. We love sharing what we have here in Alaska with others. We are originally from Chicago and St. Louis, but Alaska has been our home since 1975.

Why the Owner Chose Willow

Willow is a beautiful place to vacation. WILLOW CREEK INN is centrally located to other areas popular with visitors. There's many things to do in Willow if you love the outdoors, love to fish or just enjoy scenic beauty & wildlife.

The Unique Benefits of this House

WILLOW CREEK INN is private. The river is 75 feet from the rental and the sound of the water is soothing. This river is not accessible for motorized boats, but a favorite for rafters & kayakers. Our guests have spotted and/or photographed a variety of wildlife on the property. The river is accessible by foot. Great fly-fishing for rainbow/steelhead trout. There are gravel bars you can access for fishing & gold-panning. There's an eagle's nest on the property which eagles occupy during the summer months & raise their young. Willow has an excellent fishing guide who will take you down the river in a raft. In the winter, snow-machiners use the "old military trail" to gain access into Hatcher Pass. Winter renters also enjoy viewing the Northern Lights on cold clear nites in the Northern Sky.

    • This was a great place to stay and the house had everything we needed. Our kids really enjoyed picking the wild berries around the cabin and making syrup with them for french toast. We left wishing we had more time to stay and enjoy Alaska. We would definitely recommend staying here during a visit to Alaska.

      Homeowner Response:
Thanks Brian & Jeanette, Hopefully you'll be able to come back someday! Glad you enjoyed our place. The Pierces

    • What a delightful place to stay! We couldn't have asked for a better vacation spot both in the gorgeous home and the beautiful setting. Very clean, well stocked. This exceeded all our expectations.

    • Had a great time staying at the cabin this past July. My brother and two sons had the vacation of a lifetime! The cabin was perfectly located for access to Hatcher Pass, Talkeetna and Mt. McKinley. Definitely off the beaten path, but still had all the comforts of home and ironically could get a cell signal! Didn't see any bears at the cabin, but did see bald eagles.

    • We were 2 couples that needed a place to stay for 1 night on our way to Denali National Park. The pictures on the website do not do the Inn justice. Beautiful vaulted ceilings, a full size kitchen stocked with plates, utensils, and glasses, and 2 bedrooms with the most comfortable beds that were well received after a long day of traveling from the East Coast. Communication between myself and Paul was excellent. Any questions were answered promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend the Inn and would definitely stay here again when (not if) we return to Alaska.

      Homeowner Response:
Thank you Brian, we are looking forward to seeing you again, here in Alaska. Thanks again for the wonderful response. Paul Pierce (Willow Creek Inn)

    • This is a FABULOUS getway! It was a perfect setting for our family's long weekend. The guys got to fish just steps away from the house, and the gals got to chat and prepare the meals...and we all had fun playing games. The home is decorated beautifully and is so well stocked. We can't wait to return.

    • We were the first guests of this new home on the river and thought it was wonderful. It is supplied with every convenience you could possibly ask for and the friendly owners live just up the road if you need something else. It's great to sit on the deck and enjoy the river flowing by and there are many activities within an easy drive. We are already planning a trip back there next summer. Please feel free to email us for more details.

      Homeowner Response:
