We know you'll love staying in our wonderful Miner's Cottage, located in the Galena Territory. Fabulous cottage décor, with cathedral, wood-clad ceilings, massive floor-to-ceiling wood burning fireplace. Great for couples, extended family gatherings, women's getaways, and families with children. Located in the Galena Territory, 10 minute drive to Eagle Ridge Resort or downtown Galena.
Great golfing, shopping, dining, skiing. Access to fitness center, recreation room, and outdoor and indoor pools at the owner's club. Two bedrooms have queen beds; a third bedroom has two sets of bunk beds with trundle beds underneath; there is also a pull-out couch in the family room. Each bedroom has a private bath. Fully-equipped kitchen and dining area open to living area, all with volume ceilings.

Our family of 10 stayed there August of last year and found it worked well for us. It is not perfect or in top shape, but we found it worked well for us. It would be nice to have some outside chairs on the deck. We would stay there again, It could use a little better cleaning but nothing that was terrible,Recommended for: Families with young children.

Our extended family enjoyed a weekend at this clean, roomy, family friendly home. It's quiet location made sitting on the deck very pleasant and the double living area including the downstair's family room and bedrooms allowed people to be together or spread out. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large dining table. The pool is a short drive and is wonderful for families with children. Our grandchildren, 2 and 5 couldn't have had more fun! We rented a pontoon boat at the marina for a very reasonable charge and when a grandson catches 6 fish in 1 hour, you know there were smiles all around. The golfers found several courses to challenge them in the area. The owner was available and easy to work with providing answers to questions and making the rental process easy. The town of Galena is a short drive and away and offers a wonderful venue for shoppers and those with food on their minds. We were happy to find this home which allowed us to rent for only 2 nights while many require a 3 night stay.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

Photos did not reflect the condition of the home. Never had a contract. Blinds missing on 2 windows, one being in the bedroom where you want security. the other in the main living room. Many light fixtures inside and all outside fixtures had burnt out bulbs. When this was brought to the owners attention, she said she was aware of it. Air conditoner could not keep up. It was cold downstairs but 79 upstairs. Owner did call A/C repair man but he said it was just to small of a unit. Basement had lots of spiders and webs. Upstairs window sills and top of rerfigerator had thick dust and lots of dead flies on them. Some mold on the downstairs bathroom floor. Owner said you get that when you are in the country. We have rented in Tennessee in the mountains and never had such an unkept home. Outside had many over grown weeds. Ivy that was growing up the screen door of the downstairs bedroom. We couldn't even open it. Nice decks and OK view, but no outside chairs to sit on. We had to take the kitchen chairs outside if we wanted to sit on the deck. The owner did make sure we had a working grill before we got there. No WiFI. CD player. No satelite on the upstairs old tv. Could only get a hand full of tv stations downtairs. Had to rent movies. Owner did return our cleaning fee and an small amount for our inconvenience. Location was great. Pool and facilities are great. Golf was great. We went to Dyersville Iowa to see the "Field of Dreams". Rented a pontoon on Lake Galena, but you can't swim in the lake. Found out later that there is a beautiful lake in Apple Canyon down the road. Would not recommend this home. The house is for sale and maybe that is why it has been neglected.Owner response: I am truly sorry that this guest had a negative experience. There was indeed an issue with weeds around the house that I had been unaware of, and this problem has been corrected. I have spoken to the cleaning person regarding the cleanliness and light bulb issues and am confident that any problems have been addressed. It is important to mention that the home has been rented for many years, with numerous happy guests, many who have returned for second and third stays. The air conditioning people report to me that upon arrival at the home, the thermostat was at 74 degrees and the temperature in the house was also 74 degrees. No problem was found with the air conditioning. The satellite does operate both TVs, so I am not sure what the issue was there. For any inconvenience these guests encountered, I gave a sizeable refund. It should also be mentioned that these guests related to me that they decided to cut their stay short by two days as their friends who were to come out could not make it after all, and the guests wanted a refund for the entire cost of that weekend. It is unfortunate that these guests therefore experienced a financial loss through their shortened stay. Again, I have offered my sincerest apologies for any inconveniences encountered and am confident that future guests, as with many, many past guests, will find the home to be the source of many happy vacation memories.

Why the Owner Chose Galena:
We have the best home for families in the Territory! Your kids will love our bunk beds and the large yard. We have games and toys as well, and satellite TV. Our home is also great for women's getaway weekends due to the open floor plan, which allows people to relax in the living room, sit at the dining room table, and prepare a meal in the kitchen...all while being in the same open space together. We have a huge, long dining room table that can seat about 8-10 people--perfect for crafting or large meals!
