  In over 30 years of renting various properties on the Del/Md shores, we have never enjoyed a property as much as we enjoyed our two stays at Southpointe. This is a beautiful house, with comfortable, high quality furnishings, large inviting common areas for group gatherings, comfortable beds, ample bedrooms including two beautiful master suites and other nicely furnished bedrooms, clean, modern and roomy bathrooms, a convenient and ample laundry room, a pretty, well-equipped kitchen, and a full complement of beach equipment including chairs, boogie boards, etc. The owner has gone well beyond anything else I have experienced in this area in the quality of the furnishings and amenities and the attention to detail. Our experience has been so positive that we were surprised and sad to see the one negative review, and felt compelled to comment. It is certainly true that Southpointe is not directly on the Ocean Front; as a result one should not expect the expansive water views you would get if the property were directly on the water; there are ocean views from a couple of the porches, though they are somewhat limited, just as the photos illustrate. However, I don't think that should come as a surprise from the rental information which does not hide the fact that the house is not directly on the beach. More importantly, being back a bit from the beach really did not diminish our enjoyment of the property at all. The porches are shaded with rocking chairs and comfortable, high quality furnishings. The garden view is charming. The short path to the beach is a few steps from the door. Yes, the beach will get crowded in the middle of the day during high season, but we also took many tranquil morning and later afternoon walks on the beach right outside the front door. I also believe that the renter's experience with the cleanliness of the house must have been a one time occurrence. The place was spotless both of the times we rented (and we are pretty picky -- I have called rental agencies to reclean other units more than once),. Perusing other comments in the guest books, I think that most guests found the property to be in excellent condition. We did have one maintenance issue, and it was addressed fully and expeditiously by the rental company. Again, we have dealt with other agencies and other properties and can say without qualification that Southpointe was the best rental experience we have had in the Bethany/Rehoboth/OC/Fenwick. We look forward to visits

  We were disappointed in this property. The house was not beachfront as described and was in a crowded area of Fenwick. The views from the decks were of houses to the front, back, and sides of the property, rather than the beach as described. Additionally, the house was not clean when we arrived, so we had to call the rental agent to have a cleaning crew come through (carpets aren still in desperate need of a shampoo).

In addition to all the positive reviews left in the guest book at SouthPointe, guests who posted online reviews below have had a very positive experience with their stay at SouthPointe, and so we are so sorry to hear that your stay wasn't a positive experience. SouthPointe is not "beachfront" and we have never advertised in that regard. We are three houses from the ocean, steps to the sand (55 steps by my husband), and have nice ocean views. The photos were taken by myself, from my camera, and really speak for themselves. We deeply apologize that the cleaning staff had to be called back to the house. We always expect SouthPointe to be clean for our vacationers. However, the cleaning staff did return to re clean the house the day they were called, which was two days after you checked in. We would have been happy to clean the carpets for you as well, but it was not disclosed to us until you checked out. The carpets were cleaned after you left, in between rentals, as we want to make sure that our carpets are always clean for our vacationers. Your stay was during peak, high season, at the Delaware beaches and you will find that other beaches in DE at that time are actually even more crowded than our lovely beach in Fenwick.

  My family and I were thrilled with our experience renting this house! The house is enormous, is one block from the beach, is professionally decorated with an intercom system all around the house as well as an around the house stereo system, has multiple decks, and an amazing kitchen. It is kept up impecably. The bedrooms are beautiful. Plenty of parking. Lots of beach toys, beach chairs, and bikes in the garage you can use. Easy walking distance to restaurants, coffee shop, candy store, liquor store, and 2 mini-golf places. The house is like brand new. Very organized. We were there when it was alittle chilly/windy (03/31-04/07) and still had a wonderful time. So fun! You will not be disappointed.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

• Great vacation home

  We rented this wonderful home during Memorial Day weekend 2011. 4 families (with 6 kids under 5) shared the home and had a wonderful time! Well appointed and GREAT location - walking distance to the beach and mini-golf. Highly recommend.

  We had a wonderful time at South Pointe! The house is beautifully appointed and so conveniently located! Perfect for a family getaway, you are steps from the beach, great restaurants, mini-golf and the wonderful smell of Fisher's popcorn.

  We stayed at SouthPointe the week of July 26th, and had the most wonderful time. Everything about the cottage was top notch. We loved the way each room was decorated. It's a big place, but it always seemed very warm and cozy. SouthPointe had everything we needed!

  Dear Perspective Vacationers, We have had rave reviews from all of our guests that stayed at "SouthPointe" in its first season, last summer.
