Lovely, secluded house three miles from the charming, historic village of Woodstock, New York. This house is a perfect getaway. Private, but with many things to do and see nearby.
Expansive Yankeetown Pond sits at the bottom of the road, complete with wildlife, fishing and canoeing/kayaking and cross-country skiing/skating in the winter. Sit in the yard and read, play sports, run under the sprinkler, go for a bike ride, or hike in the woods. From Spring and into Fall, you can BBQ on the porch and dine on the screened-in porch.
In the summertime, enjoy the great outdoors!! Hiking, biking, tennis, swimming, canoeing, bird-watching, spelunking, golf, antiquing, craft fairs, yard sales, etc, etc. In the Fall, enjoy the beautiful Fall foliage while taking a walk or drive. Take your family apple picking. Peruse local antique shops and yard sales. In the wintertime, you can ice skate on yankeetown pond (at the bottom of the road), or cross country ski on nearby trails. Excellent skiing/snowboarding at nearby Highmount/Bellayre, Hunter and Windham ski resorts. Other local activities include: mountain biking and hiking trails, tennis courts, playgrounds, basketball courts, natural swimming holes and rock climbing. The town of Woodstock (and surrounding areas) offers great shopping, antiquing, theatre, music, movies and restaurants. Don't forget: The Woodstock Film Festival, Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble, H.I.T.S in nearby Saugerties, NY, The Vanderbilt and Roosevelt Museums in Dutchess County, The fabulous restaurants at the Culinary Institute of America, (incredible) Opus 40 and DIA Beacon. Explore the historic towns of: Saugerties, Phoenicia, High Falls, Stone Ridge and Rhinebeck. Or stay local and enjoy the Saturday Flea Market and other great shopping and restaurants right in Woodstock.
Our house has been lovingly decorated with some of our favorite furniture, art work and antiques. The kitchen is newly renovated, as are the den, mud room, deck, screened-in porch and half-bath. The entire house is cozy, comfortable and a pleasure in which to spend time.
