Fish, ski, tube or just cruise this very scenic, low trafficked lake. Enjoy the outdoor firepit or snuggle inside by the fireplace. Games, ping pong, Direct TV, darts, fully equipped kitchen, library and more are yours to enjoy.
Relax and enjoy this scenic location.
There are three bedrooms-the master is very large with a King size bed-lot of room for an air mattress or portacrib if needed. Second bedroom has a queen size, pillow top, extra comfy bed. Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
We are a family of four that live in Florida year round so take every chance we get to head to the mountains. We have two boys ages 11 and 16. We have two dogs who absolutely LOVE this place-they are the first in the lake every year!
Why the Owner Chose Bristol
We rented for years on various lakes in Tennessee and North Carolina. When we found South Holston lake we were so overwhelmed by the beauty and tranquility of this lake that we had to make it permanent. We love to waterski, tube and wakeboard and there is absolutely no where we have found that is better than this lake. There is very little traffic and during the week it is almost non-existent. You pretty much have the lake to yourself. We also love biking and whitewater rafting so really enjoy the various rivers that are in easy driving distance AND one of our favorite things to do is bike the Virginia Creeper Trail. This great trail take you by the river, through the woods-do not miss this while in the area.

Nice, rustic lake house on a lovely, wooded lot.

Although the house was clean and well maintained, there were a few things that would have made our stay a little more comfortable. The house is big enough for 8 adults. We had 5 in our group, which the owner was aware of. We were only given 4 towels and 4 wash cloths for a 2 night stay. Had I known, we could have brought our own, but were told that it was included. In the kitchen, there very few utensils and cookware, except for the very basic items. Nobody wants to travel with casserole dish, muffin pan, etc.A full size coffee maker is a must when you have a house that sleeps 8 people. We're big coffee drinkers, and we spent our morning brewing pot after pot because it was so small. But I guess the most troubling inconvenience was the water situation. I believe the house has well water. After 2 showers, we had to wait quite some time before anyone else could shower, or even flush the toilet. One person in our group couldn't wash her hair because of this problem. Outdoor furniture was of poor quality, with no padding. But the deck was huge! A hot tub would have been a nice addition on a deck that large. Drapes in the master would have been nice, since the room faces east, and the sun was beaming in by 7:30 or 8:00 am. No sleeping in on this vacation! But all in all, we enjoyed our stay. If certain upgrades were made to the property, we would definitely return for another stay.
Owner response:Thank you for your comments. Some were valid and we have addressed them. The most important one being the water-we are on a well and every now and then a power surge or other interuption will cause the switch on the well to flip. It just needs to be reset, directions on how to do so are in the info binder at the house. I will make those more prominent for future guests. A phone call to us could have helped you but we are sorry for the inconvenience. As far as the muffin pan and utensils etc... there are actually two pans in the draw under the stove, utensils for 12 as well as glasses, wine glasses, coffee mugs etc for the same number. Not sure how much is expected but has not been a problem before. A larger coffee maker has been added. Apparently the one that was originally there was broken by a renter and replaced with a smaller one-we did not notice until you mentioned it so thanks. There is also a full supply of towels in the linen closet. We put out one for each guest but have a healthy supply for replenishing. Again, reading the info binder or a call to us would solve most problems but I will make note of that more prominent as well. Aaa yes, a hot tub-that would be nice, but we don't have one. :-(
