This home was perfect for our 3 night stay. There were 5 children and 5 adults. The kids had a great time playing hide and seek and the accomodations were great-clean and adequately supplied. Location ideal for Monterey and Santa Cruz activities. The beach was within good walking distance. All in all it was a perfect vacation house and described as "awesome" by one of the kids. Owner was very helpful in providing information and prompt response to questions. Would recommend.

We had a great stay for four days at this house. We had four adults and four kids and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was very comfortable, roomy and warm. We had a great time enjoying the outdoor fire at night. The kids really enjoyed the short walk (or scooter ride) to the beach each day. The beach was just beautiful with huge crashing waves. We did day trips to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Capitola and Santa Cruz which are not too far. I would definitely come back next year if it is available.

The La Selva Beach House is exactly that...a little slice of heaven. Our stay over Presidents weekend was spectacular. There were a total of 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children. The expansive yard provided plenty of safe space for the children to ride scooters, play tag and fly kites. The outdoor fire area felt secluded and gave the cozy warmth needed as the sun set, all the while listening to the waves not far off in the distance. The nearby beach was one of the cleanest and most beautiful I have been to in Northern California. Plenty of shells for the children and a safe distance between the shore and crashing waves. The house was very spacious and accommodated all of us very well. The kitchen and entire house was well equipped. The area itself is quiet and peaceful exactly what we all needed, a getaway from the city madness. Thank you for a spectacular weekend at your beach house. We hope to return.

My family of 11 (plus two large dogs) met here for Christmas, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our holiday. We rented both the upstairs and downstairs, and for the first time (ever) no one felt like they were living on top of each other. The kitchen is well appointed, and we felt quite comfortable cooking there. The proximity to Monterey and Santa Cruz is great, but we chose to bum around the house and the beach, and actually felt relaxed by the time we left. We all hope to get back there for another family vacation in the future.
Owner response:Thanks for the review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will return in the future. ~ Mary

Our stay at this house was amazing and the house was beautiful. It was so much more than we expected. The house is very inviting, warm and comfortable.. There is enough room for more than one family to stay. The kids had a great time exploring the property and watching the bunnies. It had everything we needed. The balcony was a fun place to hang out with friends. The kids loved the fact that we could walk to the beach. The beach was clean and not over crowded at all. It is also a short drive to upper Manrisa beach where we had a bonfire on the beach. The location was perfect, we spent one day in Monterey at the aquarium, next day at Santa Cruz, the next at Capitola Beach. We definately recommend this house if you are planning on staying in Monterey or Santa Cruz, too much traffic and people in both cities, it is so worth short drive to have the peacefulness we had here. We will be back.

Greetings Mary and Mark, Thank you for sharing your beach home with us these past days. Our time spent there was wonderful. The location is perfect for vacationers to travel to the aquarium and also to the Santa Cruz area. The children loved roaming outside and we watched, but weren't fearful of a busy street right out front. We found the trail to the beach and took advantage of that. Thank you. We did take the info to pass to others. Pat

Loved the proximity to the many local beaches, Monterey County, and local beach towns. What a treat to see seals and pelicans by the nearby beach, stars at night and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding area. Great house for a large group.

We had a great time. The weather was a bit too foggy, but that is just the risk this time of year. As for the house, my suggestions for improvements are many more serving dishes for food and the knifes are really awful. We cook a lot and were hampered by these two things. Great that there is so much storage in the kitchen cabinets (and in the bedrooms). It was VERY helpful to have the paper products etc. And all the towels. I also LOVE that the process to rent from you is so straightforward and clear, and that you do not have pages and pages of instructions for everything. We are going to try to come again in two years. Thanks for your feedback Lisa. I will add serving plates and sharpen and/or replace the knives right away. I look forward to your return. ~ Mary

My friends and I have stayed at the Beach House three times now and each time has been wonderful. All three times we have rented the house for scrapbooking getaways. There have been up to 12 of us and the house is plenty big enough for that many women and ALL there scrapbooking stuff. Everything you need is at the house and there is always enough of everything, towels, plates, glasses, beds, everything! The beach is a just a short walk away and the view from the house is amazing. I would highly recommend the Beach House to friends and family. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we have!

The purpose of our trip was to commemorate a fallen soldier, but most of all a fallen friend. La Selva was the perfect escape and brought a lot of sunshine to what could have been a gloomy weekend. Upon arriving we were amazed at the decorative style of the home. Its natural elegance was complimented by the homely feel it radiated. The house was fully furnished and extremely comfortable. We many times sought refuge by the fire, all together around the dinner table, or our many walks to the beach. To wake up with the Pacific Coast breeze filling our lungs was therapy you can't find on a couch. While close enough to Aptos to take care of our needs and wants, this sanctuary felt like it was ours and solitude was not required yet rather welcomed. Its many rooms, leather couches, and beautiful relaxation areas made finding which place to rest the only hard decision to make. As the night settled and the liveliness increased, our live performances on PlayStation 3's Guitar Hero, card games, and hooting and hollering were ours to enjoy with little or no disturbance to the natural and beautiful surroundings. The only sadness came when the weekend settled and we had to say goodbye. We hope to all see each other there again very soon. Thank you La Selva!

As far as the house goes, we really enjoyed how spacious it was and the separation between the living room and the sitting area off the dining room. It allowed some people to watch a movie while others read, played games, or did puzzles. Also, some of the kids set up a jigsaw puzzle downstairs and it was nice to have that separate area as well. The walk to the beach is just great and I can't tell you how nice it was to have our dogs with us. All in all it was a nice, relaxing time.

The house was wonderful for the 10 people! The large t.v. was super for the young people's Wii. We used one of the BBQ's one night - and all of the utensils I think. It was clean and ready for our group. You were correct about the recycling available for the Christmas tree - yeah! The beach was close and very private this time of the year. Lovely walk. Good broom/dustpan and vacuum cleaner. Clean windows for great view. Open floor plan was welcome with so many guests! Large kitchen was great and furniture amount was amenable to the large number of occupants.
