Description: This rental is ideally located south of Hilo about 25 minutes, about 300 feet from the ocean. We are in a very quiet area, almost at the end of a dead end road. There is a large open space just to the north of the house where you can walk along the coast for miles and miles. There are incredible rock formations and awesome blue waves. You will see whales often, and the turtles swim just feet from shore, making you wonder how they keep from getting pounded by the waves.

This is a brand new custom home, completed in April, 2004. It has 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large swimming pool with a backyard lanai, a large atrium, and an observation deck for viewing the ocean at your leisure.

The kitchen is customized with granite counter-tops and a refrigerator with "through the door" ice and water. It is complete with microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender and has dishes, pots and pans, silverware, and serving ware. There is a full-sized, stacked washer and dryer.

Both bedrooms have queen beds, air conditioning, and 8 foot sliding glass doors looking out at the Pacific Ocean. (Very few homes in the area have air conditioning.) The master bath has an outside shower in a redwood enclosure for privacy and a designer sink in a custom cabinet. The guest bath has a granite counter-top and oversized shower. The bath in the lanai is darling and also has a shower.

The living room is equipped with high-backed couch and chairs and a Direct TV system. The atrium is mostly covered and has a large dining room table and chairs. It also contains the spiral staircase for going up to the observation deck. The observation deck has a table and chairs, lots of privacy, and is a great place for morning coffee. You can often see both volcano's at once, and of course the ocean is right there. There is 'once-a-week' maid service, she is a wonderful and helpful person and she also provides fresh flowers.

Large Swimming Pool, 32 foot X 18 foot.

Activities: There are so many things to do in the area that it's almost too much to list. The Big Island is currently most famous for its active volcano. Volcano National Park is 25 minutes away and the current lava flow to the ocean is another 20 minutes past that. There is snorkeling in Kapoho and an incredible huge, hot springs swimming hole just past there.

The three most popular surfing beaches are 20 minutes and a half hour away. Hiking and biking is right outside the front door. Hilo's swimming areas are 30 minutes away. Kona's sandy beaches and its grand hotels are two hours away. When it snows on Mauna Kea, skiing is 1.5 hours away. Hilo, 15 miles away, boasts the University of Hawaii with all the amenities and social occasions provided at a small state university.

The windward Big Island also provides ample opportunities for scuba diving, shoreline and deep sea fishing, outrigger canoeing, and kayaking. Many types of restaurants are within a ten-minute drive, including the best Thai-style cuisine in Hawaii, in Pahoa.
Area: If you need more room, our neighbors also have a vacation rental and we may be able to make arrangements.

Pet Friendly, Although there is no smoking in the house, there are plenty of smoking area's that are convenient and comfortable.

If you have a pet, we can discuss it...
